Bit of a Potions Master, eh?

"Where the bloody heck did this storm even come from?"
"Dunno but it doesn't look like it's gonna end anytime soon."
"Can't last forever. We'll be out of it in no time."
"Wait... Wha's that in the distance?"

The two rude crewmates from earlier peered out on the horizon as bolts of lightning lit the sky. The clouds were now swirling in an odd manner though didn't look like the start of a hurricane. The clouds were dark black and angry with short sparks flickering out from time to time. By the time Deo and the rest of the crew came over to their side of the boat the cloud had inched ever closer to them to the point they could almost touch it. Eyes soon peered through the mass and the head of a creature appeared, the crew was now in utter shock as they observed the thing.

"Is-is that a bloody dog?"
"Look's like me grandmum's poodle."
"Now's not the time for jokes!"
"Well what are we gonna do then?!?"

They didn't get the time to discuss as the dog jumped to the boat and caused an outage to occur. The men scrambled for any type of weapons they could find. Deo managed to find a spear and chucked it at the creature who deflected it with a wave of their tail. Deo didn't get a chance to react as he was soon knocked off the boat and into the churning waters below. He surfaced only twice before witnessing the creature explode in a cloud of electricity and annihilating the boat in mere seconds. Deo was soon targeted himself, unable to dodge the incoming bolt and getting hit directly in the face and sending him into a great sleep.
When he awoke he found himself on a shoreline. The sun was shining softly over him and the gentle waves lapped at him playfully. He slowly sat up so that he may get a good look around at his surroundings and gather his bearings. Though when he looked down he nearly screamed in horror. He no longer had legs or even a lower half. It looked as if he had hidden himself under some sort of aquatic blanket yet there was no true limbs to speak of. His arms had sharp black claws instead of fingertips. He took note of a huge fin on his back and a double set of horns on either side of his head. Worse of all his eyes seemed to have disappear, leaving his face blank except for a gemstone that he could "see" out of. It was almost like looking out of a spyglass and made him feel nauseated to begin with. He attempted to "stand" and found he could float. He couldn't go high however, just enough to make it look like he was standing and that if he had legs they would be hidden beneath the sea colored cloak. As he explored around he realized he was in a part of the world called the Omen Islands. A desolate set of lands that held many mysterious and even deadlier creatures, or so the rumors said. Unfortunately for Deo this was now his new home and thus he decided to make the best of it. He built a little home by the sea and soon begun exploring inland and found remnants of other homes. He also found plenty of remains both human and creature. The most curious thing was something an alchemist left behind. A few journals and some potions that they made. When Deo tested them on easy to catch creatures they immediately transformed into something entirely different. Deo did not know of the species that they did morph into but decided he would try to follow in the footsteps of this fallen person. Over time he was able to perfect the craft and soon began receiving letters asking him to make potions of all kinds. He has no idea how these letters get to him or how anyone even knew he had been stranded on these islands. These days he simply fulfills the orders he gets and is quite contempt with living on these cursed lands.
