Qualta is my name. I can't speak more then three words. I know others.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Just that one line. Seems to be my only vocal response to everything. Right now as a reader you're able to see my thoughts.
There was a moment in my life where I had finally found the right words to warn my best friend of the monster he so blindly followed.
However, the wind took up his wings and swallowed the first few. Off he went into more blood-filled combat.

A quick review of my life up until, you know, that. In the city we inhabit now Heiltha and I were crammed into a decent one bedroom apartment. Heiltha stayed on the couch while he let me take the room. I worked during the day as a nurses aid, Heiltha the night as a body guard to some club. No one could ever take him down no matter how drunk.

Even now it didn't seem like a terrible or hard life. The money was good, we never went hungry, and after working the long hours it was comforting to know someone was at home, possibly thinking of you. Even if just the thought, 'Had they gone shopping yet?'

More into the future from our once comfortable lives.. I remember there was fire. During the day, so much smoke and flame. We didn't know the cause of it in the hospital we were so busy just trying to sooth burns or move people to the morgue.

Then it happened. From one end of the hospital the sound swept forward to us like rushing wind. People were screaming louder then any pissed off siren. A nurse named Minder had been in front of me holding some prescriptions in hand. Next thing I saw was something like swollen glands trying to burst from under the skin. Only they hadn't stayed in spot like a boil would, they moved. The one rolling under her throat caused her to gurgle out small terrified--

Personally I couldn't run. Even with my extreme detail of the subject the 'wind' had brushed by me not long after Minders strange plague began. The scream continue even past me. I felt fine. Examining myself I decided to help Minder. I dropped to my knees and crawled to her. My legs deciding they'd rather given into a paralyzing fear. I reached her in not much time. I went sssh, pressing my hand to hers. Which she squeezed.

My spine had felt like it was cracking apart slowly.

I don't want to relive anymore of that.

When I awoke it hadn't been in the hospital. Not that I even gave a thought the building would be habitable any longer. I was cuddled against something red, feathery. Those things had smelled so good. I stirred myself to move but stopped when i felt another snapping of bone. I coughed so much flem up it was almost smothering me. A strong hand pressed against my shoulder, I heard a hissing where my vomit had landed. Badly shaking my eyes finally met his.

The monster was standing in front of me smiling.
