Name: Jadore
Gender: Female
In the evenings, after she has locked up the shop for the day, she loves to read. Jadore refuses to own a kindle, loving the musty smell of a good book almost as much as she loves the story contained therein. She reads any story that comes recommended to her, trusting her patrons explicitly when they tell her about each story. She actually prefers a book with a love story somewhere in the sub-plots but will read horror stories just as easily and just as avidly. She often loses hours at a time, crawling into bed just two hours before her alarm is set to go off, just because she has become so engrossed in the book she is reading.
She is often described by the patrons of the store as flighty or ditsy. As sometimes she daydreams and will forget what she is doing or even where she is going, standing stock still in the middle of the shop until her fantasy is finished and she starts on another task until the previous job comes back to her.
She is very feminine in her clothing choices, preferring to be over-dressed in skirts and dresses than under-dressed in jeans and vest tops. She often prefers darker colours in order to emphasise her skin tone. She always wears heels, feeling they better disguise her diminuitive stature. Her secret expense, her guilty pleasure, is some highly impractical but seductively sexy lingerie; an overwhelming froth of lace and satin that hugs and shapes her body underneath her clothes.
After a temping job at a newspaper as a journalist, Jadore realised that she preferred the happier side of stories, not the depressing stories of war torn countries. She also tried writing a book but, after eight months of trying all the publishers, including the lesser known and less popular publishers, she decided that telling stories was not her forte. Therefor she took on an ailing book shop as her new project.
She set to work making the book shop the place to be and, with her positive attitude at the helm, the shop has gone from strength to strength in the last year since she took over.
Today was the first Saturday of the month. And as always, there was a new window display at Jadore Books. She smiled to herself, surveying her handiwork one last time.
Yes, she thought that will do. At precisely 8:59am she took a deep breath and pulled the cord to raise the blinds.
The looks of wonder on the faces of the children outside made her five o'clock start worth it. The dragon made of books curled spectacularly around a great red jewel that was also made entirely of books. The brave Knight of Knowledge, made entirely from rolled up posters in clear plastic tubes and attacking the dragon with a silver foil sword completed another amazing window display.
In silence, Jadore opened the door to the book shop, the bell on the frame ringing lightly, alerting the children and their parents to her presence.
Children are never known to be quiet, especially when shopping, but in Jadore Books they were always so in awe of the window displays she made that their parents were able to shop in peace. Her window themes always told parents which books were on sale for 15% off the retail price. This month, any books that were about dragons or knights, be they fiction, legend or fact, would receive a discount.
Jadore stood looking at the window display as the customers filed in talking animatedly in almost hushed reverence. She really ought to do something...she ought to...
He walked into the store, his dark brooding eyes staring into her soul as he walked towards her. He reached out to her, whispering her name softly, taking her in his arms without even a token resistence. He dipped his head as she raised hers, their lips brushing lightly, his hands around her waist stroking her back lightly as he pulled away and looked into her eyes. His lips parted and he softly whispered...
ding-ding-ding
Jadore shook her head and smiled at the woman standing at the desk, ringing the bell. The woman held up a biography of Sir Michael Caine and asked if it would also get the discount as, after all, it was about a Knight. Jadore tried not to roll her eyes. There was always one customer who would push their luck on the first and last day of the sale. Jadore scanned the book and, with a laugh, discounted it by 15%, placing it in a carrier bag and taking the woman's money.
Jadore looked at the stack of books that were newly delivered that hadn't been put out that morning and picked up a selection of titles to put out in the right...
A gentle hand on her lower back surprised her as she straightened. The hand slipped to her waist, pulling her against a hard muscular body, his lips lightly brushing the top of her head. His hand stroked higher over her rib cage and she closed her eyes, lips parting on a moan as he said her name...
"Excuthe me mith book lady?" The child tugged on her skirt, looking up at her shyly. Jadore collected her thoughts and stared down at the little blonde boy sucking his thumb. She knew she needed to stop fantasising and get in with her work so for the rest of the day every time she felt herself drifting off she would dig her nails into the palms of her hands and stop thinking.
The day flew by in a rush of sales, the most profitable day she had had in a while. Her assistant had left early and Jadore had been left on her own for the last two hours of the day.
Finally, with a sigh, she ushered the last customer out, closed the door and flipped the sign to "CLOSED". She took the key out of her pocket and locked the door firmly, standing to survey the unfortunate mess of a busy day. She lowered the blinds on the windows, shielding her dragon from the stares of passers by and started to tidy up.
Tap-tap-tap went his knuckles on the door. She ignored him pointedly. Tap-tap-tap he knocked again. She looked at the door and pointed at her wrist, signifying simply that he was too late. Tap-tap-tap-tap-tap he stared in, his gorgeous dark eyes slightly hooded by a dark fan of lashes. She sighed softly and dug her nails into her palms...
Tap-tappa-tap-tap-tap-tap the gorgeous man stood at the door, smiling crookedly as she blinked twice. Her hands stung from her nails digging in and yet he still stood there, looking slightly confused. Slowly she walked towards the door and tapped beside the sign. The man shook his head and winked, pointing at her. He silently mouthed just three words that made her heartbeat quicken.
I. Want. You.
She paused and ever so slowly reached for the key to unlock the door...

Personality
Jadore is a lively, bubbly young woman. She spends most of her time during the day chatting to the patrons of her book shop. It's her passion in life, she feels priveleged to be able to be surrounded by books of all types: from the classics by CharlesDickens and Jane Austen to the modern works of Harlan Coben and J.K.RowlingIn the evenings, after she has locked up the shop for the day, she loves to read. Jadore refuses to own a kindle, loving the musty smell of a good book almost as much as she loves the story contained therein. Appearance
Jadore is a striking looking young woman, with long straight jet black hair and dark eyes. Her skin, paler than the average dark haired girls in the town she lives, is entirely blemish free, making her the envy of many of the teenagers when she was younger. She has no real need of make-up and often wears only a small amount of lip gloss and eye shadow, preferring to enhance her features and not embellish them. Her thick dark lashes require no mascara and she has never used foundation at all.She is very feminine in her clothing choices, preferring to be over-dressed in skirts and dresses than under-dressed in jeans and vest tops. She often prefers darker colours in order to emphasise her skin tone. She always wears heels, feeling they better disguise her diminuitive stature. Backstory
Originally studying for a double major bachelor of arts at university, Jadore specialised in English Literature and Ancient Greek History, loving the legends and stories that were told. She eventually dropped Ancient Greek History to get a single major in English Literature. After a temping job at a newspaper as a journalist, Jadore realised that she preferred the happier side of stories, not the depressing stories of war torn countries.
