History:
Scarlett Chaperon, also known by the nickname Red Hood, was the first human to become a Hunter in Fableton. After an incident in her youth, Scarlett joined with the Three Brothers Gruff to hunt dangerous creatures in Gwydion's Forest, whether they be wolves or trolls. As their training progressed, new members started to join.
As Fableton expanded, Scarlett's team evolved into a paramilitary force known as the Hunters, an homage to the man who rescued her at her grandmother's house. With assistance from Three Brothers Construction, the Hunters' Headquarters was constructed as a sturdy building made of stone and brick. To this day, not a single storm or wind has been able to blow it down.
Today:
It has been three centuries since the curse descended upon the forest, turning it into the Vale of Hungry Shadows, and Fableton into Mournstead. Despite being one of the most skilled members of the Hunters, she now enjoys a semi-retirement, only emerging once a century or so to assist with particularly troublesome monsters.
About:
No one knows exactly how many centuries this woman has lived, but she maintains a youthful appearance of someone in their mid-twenties. She, along with several other members of Mournstead, seem to be blessed with a kind of passive immortality.
Wielding a blessed silver scythe or glaive as her preferred weapons, this nimble young/old Hunter has probably forgotten more about monsters than any of the journals in the Hunters' HQ Library could hope to cover.
Most of her time these days is spent training the youngest recruits, both in mind and body. Her personality is patient, kind, and dedicated toward protecting children from the darkness in the forest. She also has a spark of mischief in her, as she enjoys introducing outsiders to the town's key members and seeing the realization dawn across their faces.
Goals:
Scarlett's past experiences when she was younger instilled in her a deep desire for personal growth and a determination not to let her innocence and naivety put herself or others in harm's way from those who would wish them harm. She is dedicated to protecting the town, especially the children. Recognizing the importance of a network of trust and care with safe adults, Scarlett has focused on fostering a close-knit community in Mournstead where people watch out for each other and where support systems are readily available for those in need.
Currently, Scarlett and her Hunters are struggling to understand why the Vale of Hungry Shadows is deteriorating, and why one of the core tenets, "children are protected," has been broken. With an influx of new recruits, Scarlett is determined to train them to reach their full potential. Together with her protege, Elena, they are investigating why the forest became cursed in the first place, and seeking ways to prevent the curse from causing a collapse of the magic that only barely sustains it.
What are her weaknesses? How has her relationship with the Three Brothers Gruff fared these several centuries? Have they drawn closer, farther apart? Why has she waited three centeries to investigate this curse? Does she herself know why she has immortality? What would be the hardest thing for her to sacrifice as she strives to accomplish her goals?
