Chena's story:
Have you ever heard of this legend before?
My life is good, I have nothing to complain. Except my parents were pretty strict. Well, more my dad. He's a total ass sometimes. But he has his reasons. Mom is very loving and caring. I get along pretty well with her. For the rest, I'm pretty much alone.

A long time ago in the world of Subeta there lived a small Jollin on a small Island just between the Sacred Lands and the Shadowglen. Its mother was a Darklight Jollin, while its Father was a Spectrum.. In those times the two petcolors clashed over territory on that Island.

I'm a bit too hyper and weird for most of the people so I'm often left out on games. I have other friends though. Niev and Kota, they're like my older brother and little sister. I'm an only child at home.

The small family of the Jollin was constantly attacked because they picked no side. One day the little one got fed up with everything, it wanted peace. So they sought out the help of a Zodiac spirit, Shiromi the Wish Weaver.

I used to have a brother. His name was Ren.
He was 18 years old at the time. I was 11.
He died protecting me, that's what dad tells me. I don't remember much of that day though. We were out in the woods, I was weaving flowers together to make a flower necklace for mom while my brother was looking for berries for dad's potions, you see, we're spellcasters or alchemists by trade. I'm not that good at it, but my brother was dubbed genius at the age of 14. I wanted to be like him.

The Wish Weaver told the Jollin to start collecting glass beads of all colors. 'If you collect 1000 different colored beads for me, I will grant your wish.' She told the youngster. And so the Jollin set out, all by its self in search for every color, from deep blue to neon pink. After a while the small child had collected over 50 beads, but time was running out, the fights became more violent with each passing day, if nothing was done they would be done for it, for sure.

That day, I saw a small shadow moving along the trees. I decided to follow it looked like a little dragon. Without noticing I was straying further and further away from Ren. I came into a clearing where I saw the little thing. It wasn't a normal dragon, it had puffs of shadow matter coming off it and ice aqua blue eyes. It stared at me curiously and grinned while it made odd noises that seemed to be his way of talking. I smiled and took a step closer.

Luckily other small Jollins on the island started to notice the quest and started helping. Soon they were at 100, more and more small Jollins from the BlackLight and Spectrum packs came to help the little Jollin in it's quest. Adult ones started picking it up too.

As soon as I did, masses of shadow creatures started pouring out of the forest into the clearing, roughly pulling the little shadow dragon, who was squealing and screaming, into them. Then they turned their attention to me. I turned around to flee but they surrounded me completely. I dropped the flowers I was holding and screamed.

Finally after months and maybe even years they collected 998 beads, two more remained, a black and white bead. But those were only available to the elders, who refused to hand them over to any of the youngsters. And soon, it was too late. The final battle between the two packs began to fight, it was more violent than anything the young ones ever saw, many started crying and hiding. But not the mix, it snuck into both sides and claimed the last two beads, as it returned to set them on top of the collection the Jollin was attacked by a group of spectrums rendering its hind legs almost useless. Still it kept going, with the others close in pursuit, miraculously it made it to the beads and laid the last two down.

As soon as I did I heard a voice and footsteps nearing me. 'Chena!!' It was Ren. I screamed back. 'Don't come here! S-Shadows!' He approached the clearing and spread his hands while he muttered a spell. Light engulfed the field for a moment and the shadows retreated. He ran to my side and grabbed my hand. 'Hurry! Get out of here!' But it was too late, the light had faded and now we were both in big trouble. 'Linta! Get father!' Ren commanded his pet dragon, it nodded and flew away. Ren pulled me into a hug and started muttering a spell, the spell wasn't strong enough for them all and a few got in. They pulled me away from him, I felt my body turn cold as dark matter started pouring out of me too. The last thing I heard was Ren screaming something.

The Jollins who were in pursuit came to a halt in front of the heap of beads and gazed at it awestruck. Never before had they seen so many colors, dark and light, clear and clouded. 'What is the meaning of this?!' One of them asked where the small Jollin replied: 'I-it's our wish. The wishes of your children, grandchildren and us. From both sides of this forest.' Other small Jollins started to gather around the little one and they spoke in one voice, as if they had rehearsed this for ages. 'We wish no more war. We wish for a peace between our clans. We are all one and the same. The beads show that.' The elder Jollins paused, looking as confused as ever. And for the first time the Blacklight and Spectrum Jollins faced each other neutrally, not full of hatred. They inspected each other like it was new and strange. Finally they looked back at the children.

I woke up in my room. Quite relieved to be frankly, I thought it was all a dream. But it wasn't a dream, when I came downstairs I saw the torn and beaten body of my brother, my mother grieving on his chest and my father trying to comfort her. Tears sprung into my eyes. 'Ren!' I ran to his side and shook his head around the way I always did to wake him up. There was no response. I did everything I could, pulled his hair, forcing his eyes open, smacking him a few times until father pulled me away from him and hugged me.
-He was protecting you.-
It was all my fault. I ran away to the old temple and collapsed onto the stone floor sobbing.

The Jollins finally made peace seeing how the little ones worked so hard together. And the story of this brave little Jollin spread across the other clans.

I didn't know why I was there, but it felt right. 'Please.. bring Ren back. Bring my brother back to us..'.

Years later the little Jollin was all grown up and an elder to the clan. From time to time little cubs would come to it and tell it their wish for they believed the elder could make them come true.

A small light swept over the floor and when I looked up there was a woman, she wore rags, but somehow it was still very elegant on her, she had horns and golden highlights over her nightsky hair.
'You have made a wish in my temple, little one. However, a wish alone is never enough.'

However the Jollin always replied with a smile:

'Tell me! I'll do anything!'

'Collect 1000 colors of beads'

How to read this story: The italic parts and the normal parts are two separate stories. But they connect to each other by one important line. Italics is the legend of the Bead Jollin. There's no gender specified because the tale is so old it was lost if the Jollin was male or female. The normal text is Chena's story how we know it.
