A happy, ocean-eyed girl

Eloise has spent most of her life out on the ocean. Her father is a fisherman, and he spends anywhere from days, to months at at time out at sea. Fishing is known to be a laborious profession, but he works hard to provide for Eloise and her family. As a child, Eloise tagged along on many of her father's journeys whenever it was possible to do so- at the disdain of her worrisome mother. Because of these years of experience on the boat, Eloise has become rather ocean-savvy herself.

Growing up, Eloise had no fear of water. She spent hot summer days running around the fishing boat, or peering over the ledge to try and catch a glimpse of the colorful, exotic fish swimming below.

Eloise has mixed-feelings about her father's profession, as she loves to see the fish in their natural state. Sometimes Eloise will tip-toe through her father's catches carefully, making sure to toss back any starfish or crabs that may have accidentally gotten tangled in the fishing nets.

On frigid, early mornings at sea, Eloise likes to curl up in the warm cabin of the boat, watching the men bustle outside. She likes to wrap her chunky knit cardigan tightly around her and browse through sea maps, and marine biology encyclopedias. Eloise daydreams of having a boat of her own and sailing away to look for treasure, or to see new kinds of rare and beautiful fish and dolphins. Eloise respects her dad's profession, but she does not see fishing in her future- she loves them all too much.

Eloise is now in her teen years, and her her childhood dream to "sail the seven seas" is the one thing she knows that she will never grow out of. And although many of her friends tease her for it, Eloise likes to wear a single, long seagull feather in her hair daily. This reminds her of her love of the sea no mater where she goes.
