Carmon used to be a perfectly happy little tigrean. She lived in her own little world, totally void of death, destruction, and anything unjust. You could hardly say she knew what the real would is like. But she would eventually find out just how harsh reality is--and bitterly accept it.

Carmon's happy little life was rudely interrupted by Merana, the sea witch. Carmon had decided to take her row boat out for a leisurely drift in the sea. That's where she met Merana, who deceivingly appeared to be sweet and caring to Carmon. It didn't take much for her to gain Carmon's trust.

Before long, Merana had convinced Carmon to submerge herself into the depths of her domain (along with a few ingredients). Carmon emerged not only as a hydrus tigrean, but also as Merana's slave. Merana let out a cold, maniacal cackle the instant Carmon realized what had happened.

"You are now, and forever more, my minion!
"You will not be able to resist any order I give," rambled Merana.

Carmon could only look upon her mistress in horror, for there was nothing she could possibly do.

Carmon served Merana well for many months. She gave up hope for freedom ages ago. But her will was reignited when she overheard her mistress.

"Damn that Shinwa! How dare she deny me my well-deserved sacrifice? I will soon teach her that she can't control a damn thing I do. The girl's blood will be on her hands, not mine."

Carmon was both horrified and excited after hearing Merana. Why hadn't she thought to go to Shinwa before? After all, Merana never directly ordered her not to go. So Carmon made haste. She needed to see Shinwa, both to break Merana's curse and to warn her about Merana's plan.

*~*~*~*~*After a long journey on the harsh seas in her old row boat, Carmon finally made it to the sacred lands. Upon entering Shinwa's temple, she was greeted with harsh words.

"How dare a pawn of Merana step foot in my chambers?
"Tell me why I shouldn't kill you where you stand."

Carmon swallowed her fear and pleaded with Shinwa. She told her all about how Merana had tricked her, so Merana could have another slave. About how Merana planned on taking the life of a mere child. And about how she needed Shinwa's help to break Merana's hold.

Shinwa looked Carmon over for quite some time, and finally she said:

"You are brave, young tigrean. For your courage and help, I will reward you."

Shinwa handed Carmon a potion; it was hot to the touch.

"Be sure to drink it all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go warn the pirates of Merana's intentions."

Shinwa left Carmon in complete shock. She would be free of Merana's clutches if she just drank that potion? That's it? She hurriedly guzzled it down, only to collapse from pain seconds later. Her entire body felt like it was on fire.

Then, suddenly, it stopped. She felt fine. She looked over to a nearby mirror and saw, to her amazement, that she had been transformed. No longer was she cold and damp--now, she was fire.

Pure energy.

With her new-found determination, she vowed to get her revenge on that witch for misleading her into months of servitude.

Oh, she will pay. One day soon.
