[/align][align="center"]Arthur is the embodiment of the United Kingdom through the ages. Specifically England, as he has unseen brothers representing Wales, Ireland, and Scotland, but known to other nations as the United Kingdom on his own, Arthur is a very complex character.
[/align][align="center"]Throughout the years, he`s shown some very different sides of himself. In the past, he`s been influenced by the Celts, practicing the dark arts. He`s been bossed around by the church. And...he`s fought many wars.
[/align][align="center"]He`s had a long-running animosity with France (Francis Bonnefoy), having secretly admired him and his culture but been too stubborn to admit to it. Francis and Arthur have a strained friendship, and Francis is continuously rubbing Arthur the wrong way, but they manage to cooperate when they share a common foe.
[/align][align="center"]During his pirating days, Arthur had many skirmishes with Spain (Antonio Fernandez Carriedo). In response to Spain`s powerful armada, Arthur resorted to bullying, becoming a pirate and beating Antonio up often. Particularly in matters of the Americas, mostly the Colonies and North America, Arthur left Antonio bruised and battered.
[/align] [align="center"]Arthur has a decent friendship with Japan (Kiku Honda). While Kiku has stopped seeing the spirits and creatures of his younger years, Arthur sees ghosts and fairies quite clearly. Visiting Kiku, he has met and spoken with some of the old spirits of Japan who were sad to leave, but preparing to disappear now that they were no longer seen in the culture of Japan.
[/align][align="center"]Of all of Arthur`s relationships, his history with The United States of America (Alfred F. Jones) is the most complex. Having heard, along with Francis, about a child in the New World from Finland (Tino Väinämöinen) on behalf of the Nordics, Arthur hurried to see. Out of a desire to beat Francis to something, he met the young America. After a heart-warming first meeting, Francis tried to win little Alfred over. Using food, which France was renowned for, Francis tried to tempt the boy. Arthur gave his best to offer food as well, which he was known for in a less flattering sense, but knew it was futile. However, when little Alfred saw Arthur crying, he ignored Francis` offer of food, going to the one who needed him most.
[/align][align="center"]Over the years, though Arthur couldn`t watch over him as much as he`d have liked, Alfred grew. A lot. One day, after a few years of separation, Arthur came to visit...That day, Alfred was taller than him. It was startling for Arthur, but he was still very fond of his ``Little Brother``.
[/align][align="center"]It wasn`t long after this that, following Arthur`s harrowing battle with Francis over control of Alfred, things took a turn for the worst. While Arthur had just thrown money and resources into protecting Alfred, and was now calling for his colony for taxes to recover, Alfred rebelled.
[/align][align="center"]Having lost the colonies, Arthur nursed a bruised ego and, just as much, crushed self-esteem. Due to the conflict, he`s been quite critical of Alfred over the years. Relations are strained between the two, though Alfred is as cheerful and tactless as could be.
[/align][align="center"]Now a refined gentleman, for the most part, Arthur has abandoned his marauding days, content with the size of his country as is. Having quieted down considerably, he takes great pleasure in a cup of tea or a bit of needle-point. On his off days, however, Arthur is a bit of an alcoholic. He gets a bit wild on his pub crawls, and is known for various public acts of indecency and the like.
[/align][align="center"]Despite his apparent impurity, Arthur is friends with unicorns and fairies, which no one else can see. Most of his peers tease him about it, though they also seem a bit worried for him, thinking him insane when he talks to these ``halucinations``.
