Personality
Baine's a rather easy-going guy, and is the type to make friends with anyone (whether the other person wants it or not). He likes to laugh, likes to make others laugh and is a little bit of a prankster and tease at heart. Baine's always been the type of guy everyone wants at their parties because he knows how to have a good time, and he's never had a problem making friends growing up. He's the guy who'll bring porn to movie nights with friends, just to see their faces and has the bad habit of drinking out of the cartons in people's fridges. He doesn't mind being the center of attention, and can be a little bit of a drama queen mostly for the laughs. To this day, Baine's closest friend however is his twin brother, Jaice.

Being a little nerd, deep down, Baine knows quite a bit of things about quite a few things that most do not. He's smart, but certainly doesn't always act it. And would much rather play a video game or watch anime than read a book. He can make references from movies or games in everyday conversation, one of the few ways his inner geek does show through, but he tries a lot to keep that to a minimum.

Baine's genuinely a caring person. Despite his loud, flirtatious and sometimes teasing nature, he likes to think of himself as a sort of big brother to all those around him, even if the people are older than him. He likes to think it helps to have that sort of figure as a friend, and is secretly really happy when people come to him for advice. Because of this reason though, Baine can be a little clingy and sometimes overprotective of his friends and especially his boyfriend, Kat.

History
Baine grew up in a happy family. He and his twin brother, Jaice, were almost inseparable throughout their younger years. Their parents were both fairly art-orientated; their mother an established children's book illustrator, and their father an executive for a music label. So it was easy to predict that both the boys would be as well. While Jaice was more attracted to the music, Baine started to draw almost as soon as he could hold a crayon, giving his family members sheet after sheet of colorful scribbles.

The two had an average childhood together, as average as too descendants of mer-kind could be. Baine and Jaice both had to learn to deal with this fact at a very young age. When either becomes completely wet, whether by swimming or simply taking a bath, their feet merge and their fin grows out from them, showing their true mer-nature. Both boys often found themselves caught in the rain at school, which would result in some scales popping up and some teasing. But Baine figured out if they didn't let it bother them, then kids wouldn't have any reason to continue. And soon enough, both boys were surrounded with friends like any other kids.

As Baine aged, he continued to draw, often winning school art contests. He had always had an interest in comic books, the occasional manga, anime or cartoon, but it wasn't until he took a studying abroad opportunity in Tokyo in his second semester of college that he really gained a huge interest in that sort of thing. While he was there, Baine learned the basics of the Japanese language as part of he program, and is now fluent in the language and knows a little bit of Chinese after returning home and teaching himself. He fell in love with the culture and the people of the place, fell in love with the food and fell in love with the east in general.

While he was in Japan, he also finally decided what he wanted to do in his life, something that had been quite hard for him before. He met an older tattoo artist on one of his trips to the town between his studies. With permission from the artist, Baine came to watch him work after his classes and even got a part time job at the parlor eventually making appointments and cleaning the shop. Before he left back to the states, Baine got a tattoo down his back, a Japanese koi fish, something he thought would symbolize his new love for this place and its art, as well as something that would embrace what he was.

When Baine returned home, he continued his studies in college, getting a degree in business management and took out a loan to buy a small building in the city to renovate into a tattoo parlor. He's since paid the loan back, and has turned the shop into quite the thriving business. He decorated the place with an Asian flair, even putting a small koi pond in the floor. He's been back to Japan a few times, one trip getting his sleeves done again with the Asian influence and honoring his family heritage. They were done by the same man who first inspired him, the waves wrapping around the koi at his back along his arms and partially on his chest, spotted with the occasional cherry blossom.

It was Baine's successful shop which brought him his current, and very special by his terms, boyfriend, Katsuroshi. The other was actually a visiting model from Japan looking to get a tattoo. Baine did his tattoo, wings on either hip, and got up the courage to ask him out to a local sushi restaurant. After a few more dates, the two were quite inseparable. Baine knows quite well how much he loves Kat, but has yet tried to further their relationship. Though he has glanced through various jewelry stores, hoping to find the perfect ring ever since Jaice proposed to Masaru.

Baine stood by his brother throughout Jaice's quest to be with Masaru, and still secretly admires his brother for being so strong and being there for Masaru throughout his troubles. He can only hope that if Katsuroshi ever needed him as much as that, he could be just as strong for him.
