Miki was once an abandoned toy. She doesn’t have many memories of her life before being adopted, but she does remember the feeling of being lost, afraid, and unsure of herself in the world. When I met her she insisted that I also adopt all of her friends… I chuckled and said “I don’t possibly have enough food and shelter for all of them, but I promise we will find them all a place to belong.”I bonded with Miki quickly- she was easy to love, and a delight to be around. It was no wonder why she had so many friends. Kindness was second nature to her, and she put everyone else’s needs above her own- truly a selfless soul.
I worked for months to put together the perfect gift for her first birthday: her very own toy adoption center. I knew it was her dream to help her friends and all abandoned toys find a home that they truly deserved.
