It is common to use the phrase "there's more to them than meets the eye" when referring to people. Generally, this is because it's true -- human beings are highly complex beings with a lot going on in their heads. However, this is more drastically true with some than it is for others. Take, for example, Aubre Pierce. Upon first encounter, one would assume that Aubre is somewhat ditzy, somewhat girly, kind of cute, but all around just another teenaged girl. In reality, Aubre is intelligent, motivated, assertive, and...well...male.

Yes, Aubre is a man.

This fact seems to raise a lot of questions. Question number one: is he gay? Yes, actually, he is, and he's dating a hipster that he's way too good for. But we'll get into that. Question number two: is he transsexual? Well, he says no. In his own words, he just likes to dress up like a girl. Why exactly? Aubre usually goes off onto a rant about how society has created false gender-roles and that technically, nothing about modern male or female identification is real especially when considering clothing because clothing is unnatural and therefor how is it any more unnatural for a man to wear a dress than a woman? Most people just nod their heads at this point to placate him, and then the whole question of why he actually so adamantly defies gender stereotypes gets forgotten and everyone comes to accept that Aubre Pierce looks like a girl.

The thing is though, he's good at it. He's so good at it, it's his job. He models as a cross-dresser for various off-beat publications and websites that post photos of that sort of thing. He also runs some sort of off-beat fashion blog and seems to make money off of that. He actually has quite a few ways he's collecting money, which he's secretly saving for college.

Another thing that people assume for Aubre is that he's just some dumb kid who ran off after college to date some older dirtbag and live in a crowded apartment and remain poor and struggling for the rest of his life without any sort of motivation to get out of it. But what really happened was that he intended to go to college all along. He was even accepted into his dream school, the prestigious University of Chicago...he just couldn't afford it. And, rather than go to community college to knock out a few years worth of GEs, he decided to get some real life experience holding jobs and all those fun shenanigans while he saves up so he can get a degree in biological sciences or physics or something crazy like that.
