"Ah-ha! Fear not, sweet maiden! Tis I, the Great Knight Tabalay the Lionhearted!"

"Foul beast! I shall sentence you back to whence you came! Taste my blade!"

--

[Heroic][Delusional][Naive][Sweet]

Name: The Great Knight Sir Tabalay the Lionhearted, but you may call him just Sir Tabalay.

------Origin------

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, a child laid in his bed, and asked his father for a bedtime story. The father had just come home from his job as a blacksmith and found himself both exhausted and short on fantasy tales. But his son was adamant, and the working man wracked his brains for a suitable tale to send his kid into the land of dreams.

Drumming up the name of a commissioner he had attended that day, he concocted a tale about some wonderful knight his son had never heard of. It was the story of the knight named Tabalay.The story was like all knight stories. Some noblewoman in distress, a duchess perhaps, and a kingdom under siege from an ogre or the like. But the father told such a wonderful story and ended it halfway through, leaving the son hungry for the conclusion of the tale.

It was a good way of biding time for the father, who, while crafting horseshoes in his shop, found himself thinking of all sorts of unusual adventures for his new creation Tabalay to go through. The simple blacksmith crafted a world filled with wizards, magic, good and bad witches, and of course royalty and their loyal knights. Every night was a new telling of a fantastic adventure of Tabalays, every night until the son himself was a blacksmith, and no longer a boy.

For years, Tabalays ordeals were passed from generation to generation via word of mouth. Children would be lulled to sleep by his tales and find themselves in dream land as his squire or as a princess for him to protect.The stories almost seemed to take on a life of their own.

But thats the thing about stories. If they enter the point where they live, they can die as well.

If no one tells a story, its as if it never existed.

One day, there was a war. Father and son went to the battlefield together. Not the battlefield with horses and jousts and pretty banners. The one with guns and bombs and gases.

There they died. The army that devoured them was insatiable. It demanded more. It turned to the son and fathers house. It knew that their family was still inside, so it made a meal of them, too.For the first time in eighty years, Tabalay ceased to live.

Where do stories go when they die?

For so long the gentle knight had been living in a land of dreams with his loyal steed. He kept a kingdom safe. He was happy, even if he had yet to find a princess that would stay in 'true love' with him for more then a week.

Then, a few screams woke him one morning.

Everything began to change.

It took him a while to notice that they days were getting shorter, even if autumn was not due for six more months.

It was just after he finished his dinner that he looked outside and stars were already out. The next day, and he couldn't even begin making dinner before it got dark.

Noon was blanketed by night.

And soon there wasn't even a dawn.

Only the stars. And empty space.

Where dreams fade into nightmares.

In the light of the full moon, Tabalay rode his steed that had learned to gallop over stars. In space he had seen horrible things. Monsters. Skeletons. Creatures without a name. But they did have a name once. They were all once members of his kingdom.

His lordship was gone. The princess? Turned into a ghoul.

He and his horse were the only ones left. So he turned to the moon and raised his lance.

"We have one last chance, my friend!" He called out, eyes filled with tears. "We must go to the last place of light left! I can feel myself already changing... We must hurry! Courage now, courage! Now charge!"

Golden hooves created sparks as they stomped through emptiness. Knight and mount were a comet streaking through the darkness.

He brought forth his lance, and thrust it forward.He wanted to be a hero again.

The hole he created brought forth an even brighter light then the moon, then the stars. It was so bright... he could feel himself being taken by it.

When he awoke, he found himself once again in daylight. In a strange world that still had dreams.

-----Personality----

Tabalay is an extremely friendly creature, having been raised to believe that everyone was generally very kind, and the ones that weren't just needed some kindness as an example to follow. He also does not believe that most people are capable of lying, except for evil witches and scheming Dukes. If he has discovered that someone has lied, he will accuse them of being one of the two.

Outspoken, overbearing and overconfident, he will charge into battle to protect even the most remote stranger.

He is over romantic, and loves to present 'maidens' with flowers, trinkets, and sweets.

---Appearance---

Tabalay generally is humanoid looking. His skin is an almost golden color, but relatively light with freckles on his cheeks.

His long hair was originally supposed to be golden, but in his escape from the Realm of Nightmares, it had turned dark black/blue. His eyes are tawny.

He stands rather tall and is slightly heavy set, which is emphasized by his full armor he wears. The armor consists of a blue and yellow neck guard undershirt, with a black shirt on top of it. His breastplate is gold with navy trim, and his double shoulder pads match. His cape is black with a yellow lining.

Feature-wise, he is pretty fair and has a blonde beard.

However, he does have two odd features; the ribbon like objects on the top of his head, and black lion ears in place of human ears. To the lion ears, he explains that it is obvious why he has them; hes the Lionhearted Knight!

As to the ribbons, he hasnt got them figured out quite yet. But hes narrowed it down to them either being a gift from a wizard he aided a long time ago, or his mom lied about who his father was.

----Relations with other pets----

Crostblade;

The warrior-wannabe sees Tabalay as bat-bug insane. But Tabalay sees him as a potential squire.

Silksherri;

She finds his Devil-May-Care attitude to be QUITE bothersome, especially since it's her that regularly ends up having to heal the wounded he creates afterwards.

Siylent;

Upon first meeting her, Tabalay brashly accused her of being a Sea-witch, which hurt the Keeto's feelings immensely. Thankfully Mao was around to remark that Siylent was more of a Sandwich then a Sea-witch, which cheered up the girl and eased the tension between the two.
