The pick-pocket

"You are young...Life has been kind to you...You will learn."

Boss,

___His real name is not know,
Nor is much else about him.
We met near the Capital of Texas.
I understand he looks like street trash,
and smells of far worse.
The city is unkind to us all, least of all those that cannot accommodate it's lifestyle
His talent however (of manipulation), is a wonder in itself
I have no doubt of this. Therefor-

___I'm asking- no telling you to allow me to personally train him
As your officer in charge, you cannot deny me of this.

Sincerly,Raize

Let's not dilly with the aspects of where I've come from, and who I am.
In the end, I wound up in Austin. With my age jobs did not come easy. That is, when they came at all. Therefor, before I could get setteled I was on the streets.

Now, my background being what it was, pick pocketing came natural.

I thought it was all over when the suits came.

He walked briskly towards me. In the heat of the day, my eyes didn't catch him at first but as he drew in closer I did. The acidity of his fur was the first thing I saw. The second, was the terrible thing that had trailed behind him. All muscle and teeth, the brown creature stalked forwards without really seeing anything. It's eyes moved from person to person. I could only assume it was searching for the kill.

Naturally, I turned to run.

Naturally, the suits weren't allowing such a thing.

I blinked back the glare of sunlight, and the acid green on dark fur. His eyes now meeting mine, I realized that they too had been tainted in acidity. For a long moment, he only stared at me, blocking my only exit. To sidestep him now would mean facing what I could only refer to as "the killing machine", and I wasn't stupid enough to do that.

"You've got skills kid"

His voice caught me off guard, and I jumped before focusing back on him.

"I'm Raize"

He waited, only I wasn't speaking.
So he went on.

"We've been watching you" he began again, his eyes narrowed as he spoke four words no one ever wants to hear "You've got the job"

For a long moment, it was silent. I would have to speak sometime I knew, only I couldn't seem to remember how. Raize's partner stepped forward, revealing a very sharp set on teeth. The way his mouth parted, it almost look like a smile.

"J-j-j-j-job?"

"What job?" Getting some defiance back into my tone, I stood tall. Even though they were both twice my size, I couldn't make myself show fear.

A smile etched across Raize's features, and the cruelty seemed to ebb from his voice: "That's classified"

Even as they escorted me unwilling down the street, I could only think that I had saw some sort of remorse in his eyes before forcing me to move.

Of course that had to be part of my over active imagination.
Damn me, always trying to see the good in people.

What you are on the outside does no justice of who you can be

Raize.
I admire you. My only wish is that you tried to see how great you could be if only you hadn't lived in shadows
