The Businessman

Mage energy is of utmost importance. Everyone uses it, needs it, wants it. For everyday needs such as lighting and mechanics, to luxuries such as heating and cooling, mage energy can provide it all. Where would we all be without this vital resource?

Of course, as some would love to point out, there are risks involved. These are made known to every mage in our employ. No one goes about his job whilst uneducated as to the dangers he is facing. All of our mages do what they do for the love of you, our customers.

So the next time you purchase a new mage power cell or enjoy the brightly-lit rooms in your home, remember -- Fremont Energies is here for you, the citizens of our fine country of Pridd.

-----

Thatcher Fremont propped his well-polished, impeccable boots on top of his desk and leaned back in his chair. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply, inhaling the rich scent of its leather, and he smiled. He quite enjoyed this office, he thought. Though it had been his father's originally, Thatcher was spending more and more time in it of late, taking over an increasingly large portion of the business duties that kept Fremont Energies afloat. More and more often, his father preferred to keep to the house and allow his son to deal with the minutiae of running a large company like this one. Since taking more control, Thatcher had started sending out city operatives, whose job it was to keep him abreast of new happenings among the rest of the city's residents -- his customers. He enjoyed keeping on top of the goings-on around town because it helped him plan his business projects, stay on top of marketing trends, and to keep his company's thumb lightly but nevertheless firmly planted on the people that lived there. It didn't matter to him that his father was still alive, still technically the president of Fremont Energies. Thatcher was clearly calling the shots at this point -- as well as he should, he thought, as a flicker of a smile passed over his face; he was certain that his old man would be passing on the reins of the company sooner rather than later.

As if summoned by his thought, his assistant rapped nervously at the office door, opening it just a crack and announcing in a timid voice that the newest operative report was in for him. Thatcher waved him in pleasantly, though the assistant still seemed to be treading on eggshells as he approached the desk and gingerly laid the stack of papers on its oaken surface.

Thatcher glanced down at the report, and his genial but somehow false smile quickly fell. Frowning, he dropped his feet from the desk and leaned in closer, grabbing the papers up and holding them closer to his face.

Written in large, deliberate script along the top of the front page was the phrase "Steam Flight Project: C.O. Fen Whiting, Thomas Rhodes."

Spoiled, selfish little child
Went out to play out in the wild
I found you shaking like a leaf
Underneath your family tree

Winifred
Thank goodness you no longer associate with the family -- what an embarassment.

Pecan
I'll thank you to keep your nose out of my business, "friend."

Fen
Your work is an inconvenience... I'll have to do something about that.

Walnut
You, however, are not a problem. You couldn't engineer your way out of a wet paper sack.

Seth
Tsk, such a pity. It's always so terrible when we lose a power source.
