Rey grew up in a middle-class family, and he didn't particularly get along with them. An intelligent young man, he graduated high school early and was accepted at a prestigious university. Although he was fond of learning, he found college life unbearable, and he took off a year to "go out and see the galaxy." His parents did not approve and refused to fund his little excursion, leading Rey to seek out whatever jobs he could, most of them illegal. While in a bar on a planet not too far from his home, he saved Vexx from being killed in a bar brawl gone wrong. In return, Vexx offered him a job working with him. Rey agreed, but it wasn't too long later that he was captured by slavers when both of them made a stop on a planet that endorsed human trafficking. Rather than abandoning him, as Rey expected, Vexx came to his rescue and the two have had an unshakeable friendship ever since.

Rey is always at Vexx's side, letting the captain lead the way while he quietly and efficiently makes sure that everything's running as it should be. Although he may appear uptight, Rey actually has a strong thirst for adventure and loves to be challenged. If he ever had any qualms with performing illegal acts, he got over them rather quickly and came to embrace the life of an outlaw without a hitch. Mentally tough, he doesn't often show fear, and will do what needs to be done without complaint, no matter how unpleasant it may be.

Since he also tends to act as Vexx's eyes, he has to be wary and observant. He is suspicious of pretty much everyone he meets, and is always prepared to draw his gun. He often makes little to no effort to be polite unless he needs to step in and keep Vexx--who tends to run his mouth and get under peoples' skins--from getting them both killed. Rey is a practical sort and usually very calm, but between him and Vexx, he is the more likely one to do something drastic when truly angered.
