There were two regal sisters who ruled together, and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn. One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness ...

[/i] [/center][b]Princess Celestia is the Eldest of the two sisters, using her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn. Together with her sister, Luna, they ruled over Equestria and maintained balance. But after Princess Celestia banished her into the moon, she took responsibility for the rising of the moon. Slowly but surely, the fact about Luna, now known as Nightmare Moon, and her imprisonment in the moon, all faded into myth. But it was still rumored that at the 1000th year of the Summer sun celebration, the stars would aid her escape, and the night would last forever.

Although the world had forgotten that her sister would return, Celestia's most faithful student, Twilight Sparkle, had not. She tried so desperately to warn Princess Celestia of her coming, but Celestia was more concerned about the fact that she had not many friends. She knew of her sister's return, and wanted Twilight to understand the importance of friendship to defeat her. So she had sent her student to Ponyville in order to correct this, and subtly prepare her for the oncoming battle, instructing her to oversee the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration, as well as instructing her to make friends.

On the eve of the Summer sun celebration, she had mysteriously disappeared, and in her place, Nightmare Moon had appeared, vowing what she had promised, that the night would last forever.

To save her, Twilight Sparkle, along with her newfound friends, traveled great lengths to reach Nightmare Moon in her Castle, where it was revealed that each of the ponies making up that party had represented each Element of Harmony: Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Loyalty, and Magic. Using their magic, they were able to revert Nightmare Moon back into Princess Luna, Princess Celestia was freed, giving forgiveness to her sister despite what she had done.

She currently still rules along side with her sister, keeping track of Twilight's progress about friendship.
