Most pet ferrets spend their entire lives doing a handful of things, they eat, they sleep, they bound around with that awkwardly adorable half-hop, and they stink...a lot.
Most ferrets don't watch television, or read novels, or sneak around outside their habitats to ensure they don't miss out on a new adventure in their fandom.
Most ferrets don't, but Chewwie does.

It all started when he was only a few weeks old, the day he was picked out from the chaos of ferret young hopping and bouncing around their habitat in the store. The door bell jingled as a young girl entered the store with a confident stride. She struck him as neither incredibly beautiful nor unpleasent, but rather plain and polite. Wearing a hand-me-down Star Wars t-shirt and sporting her hard earned cash, the girl approached the ferrets with a wide smile and an excited twinkle in her eyes. The little ferret's nose twitched in curiosity as he peered over his siblings at this new character. He didn't know who she was or what she was all about, but he knew he liked her. She took her time pondering the little furry critters carefully before slowly reaching in and patting his head. He pounced playfully on her, anxious to make her like him. And, to his joy, it worked. She plucked him up and held him close, nose to nose. Within seconds she burst into a beaming grin.
"You're the one, you're coming home with me mister Chewwie."

They spent the entire weekend playing. He pounced and bounded and snuggled his new friend with the utmost zeal. Before the weekend was up they had watched both trilogies in which his namesake starred. After the outer space adventure came a world of magic. Each night before bed she would read to him, making silly voices and laughing loudly when he acted out the trolls, dragons, and dwarfs in the tales. It took them over a month to finish the three novels.
In the meantime, there was no shortage of new fandoms for him to become immersed in. Together they solved crimes with a sociopathic genius, fought demons with emotionally-damaged brothers, stood up to the government with self-thinkers and rebels, traveled through space and time with lords and companions, and saved the world time and again with a whole menagerie of heroes.

There seemed to be no end to their adventures. Even when her schooling began again, she would always return to him in the afternoons so that they could explore new stories or relish in their old favorite tales. Weekends were still reserved for popcorn and movies - once or twice she even managed to sneak him into the theater to enjoy the newest blockbuster adventure. And even when she was out, gone with friends or for classes, she always kept him in mind. It was rare for her to exit the house without first popping in a movie or setting out a book - knowing her little friend was as big a fan now as she was.
And when they had a rough day, or a long week, or just felt the urge they would still put on that old trilogy, snuggle up, and revisit the adventures for which her little ferret friend was named.
