Ringo stands center ring, no mic or megaphone in hand as he waits for the crowd to hush.

‘ Welcome everyone to the Circus of Lights. I’m your ringmaster today and if you haven’t seen our performances before my name is Ringo. If you have seen our performances before I come as a bearer of sad news. ‘ Hands tuck behind his back and the ringmaster looks around the performance tent before he lets his gaze drop to the ground for only a moment. ‘ It pains me to share that our former ringmaster, my adoptive father, has passed away recently. I never knew his real name, but Ciel will be remembered by everyone who he knew in his life. ‘ Hands come out from behind his back and Ringo holds them up, a slight shrug with a small laugh. ‘ Ciel wouldn’t want his life work to stop just because he passed away though, and in his passing it is my honour to present to you the first of many performances dedicated to his memory. So please, enjoy. ‘ There’s an extravagant bow before he turns and walks off main stage.

Kender and Elephant await him off stage, brows furrowed as Kender watches her brother sigh, fingers hooking under his collar to relieve some of the heat. He catches her though, a smile weak but wide on his lips as she gives him an equally weak and wide one.

‘ We’ll be okay, Kendra. Dad may be gone but we still have each other, right ?? ‘ his voice is quiet and careful, but she still nods, mess of vibrant curls bouncing before her own smile is more sincere. ‘ There’s the Kender I know. Now get a move on, aren’t you performing tonight ?? ‘

There’s a small squeak from the girl before she runs off and Ringo can only laugh. He takes a quick look at Loïc, another smile directed towards the male. He had been taken in by Ciel as well, the three of them an odd trio of kids that the old ringmaster took in. Stepping towards him, Ringo pulls Loïc in for a hug, holding him there tight before letting him go, the other tucking himself away in a corner. Taking the time to check in on other performers in the back. Spirits aren’t down from the recent death it seems, Chasen and Hendrick excitedly yammering as Aluin finishes getting himself ready and brushing past Ringo onto the floor. Louis is in the corner, shuffling cards as they’re flipped through his fingers and back into the deck, and Nevac has a lion cub on his lap, murmuring to it in hopes it would listen, Danny beside him watching as he does. This was his family as odd as it was, and Ringo would do anything to keep them happy.

It’s not his only family though sadly.

It’s days later when they’re on a break day for performances and Ringo leaves Kender incharge of the troupe. If anything went wrong she would know who to contact. Makeup is cleaned off his face and his piercings are cleaned before put back in. He barely looked intimidating but he knew that his family -- his other family -- would still listen to him, they had for years as Ciel had raised Ringo at his side. The collar to his shirt is popped up as he weaves a tie as he walks, folding it back down as he pulls on his jacket and slips into a car he hasn’t needed to use in a few weeks. There’s a quiet sigh and he heads off, the big city of Atlas waiting for his arrival.

The casino is as normal when he arrives, workers noting when he enters and a hush covers the room. ‘ At ease, I’m not here to get anyone in trouble. ‘ The chatter builds up again but Lucien leans against his table, empty in the early day as Ringo walks past.

‘ Raoul. Didn’t expect to see you home so soon. ‘

There’s a disgusted sigh as he stops, spinning to see his former right hand, a man he let go when Ciel had passed away. Lucien was a far better leader than he ever could be, stronger and held more of a presence. But he was soft, refused to kill no matter what. Raoul… he wasn’t soft when the need called for it.

‘ I heard there was business that needed me. Business that when Ciel passed away started to cause difficulties for you. ‘ Rival families were nothing but a hassle, and it got more irritating that they decided Lucien was their target now that he left the family.

‘ Oh, there isn’t just one person, but we do have one in a back room waiting for your gentle hand. ‘ There’s a bit of a twisted laugh that slips from Lucien’s lips and Raoul knows too well that that was the Lucien Ciel had trusted with getting information out of people with. ‘ I had my fun with him already, he isn’t too fond of … well, magic and tricks it seems. ‘

There’s a laugh and Raoul nods, metal against his teeth as piercings shift with his smile.

‘ I don’t think he’ll be fond of my magic either. ‘

The dagger up his sleeve slips out when Raoul enters the back room, a man tied to a chair against the wall. It’s thrown with practiced aim, the edge of the blade a flash against skin before sinking into the wall behind the man.

‘ Why is the Blackwell family so adamant about messing up Lucien’s life ?? Care to explain ?? ‘ Another knife is pulled from his sleeve as Raoul sits backwards on a chair, hanging over the back rest as he spins the dagger in his fingers.
