the ghoul

- trying to live a relatively normal life while dealing with a constant desire to eat human flesh
- became a ghoul as a curse after being trapped in a freak cave-in; he was slowly starving before he, in a fit of hysterical desperation, attacked and cannibalized the person he was trapped with, killing them
- has a huge amount of guilt over the event and over the things he's done since then
- after being disowned by his family, he went through a period of apathy during which he embraced his inner monster and did horrible things
- considers himself subhuman and has a self-deprecating sense of humor. gets very emo sometimes. he is messed up and depressed, but trying
- his partner is halden, who has a healing factor that extends to quickly regenerating lost tissue. they use this to their advantage when dealing with nick's cravings. it's disturbing but it works
- while men who engage in consensual cannibalism probably should not be allowed to raise a child, they've pseudo-adopted fanto, a teenager whose past involves him having been a resurrected, amnesiac ghost.
- nick is very amused by what a bizarrely colorful history his little family has. sometimes he thinks they should have their own sitcom
