Before the end of the world, she was a university student at an elite private university. Her and her little sister, Martie, both attended the school together. When the world ended, the two stuck together fiercely along with their small band of survivors. Mitchie is one of the few who the virus successfully adapted to giving her enhanced strength, a numbness to pain, and pupils blown wide and cracked a little like a spilled ink well. Five years after the end of the world, Mitchie is traveling mostly on her own with just siblings, Verner and Vaia for company. Mitchie left her younger sister, Martie, at the safest survivor camp known as simply The Encampment and is operated by the largest remains of the army on the West Coast. As an "Enhanced", Mitchie isn't allowed to stay at The Encampment herself, but she still assists The Encampment regularly, bringing survivors to the safety of camps all up and down the coast. General Lordes, the General in charge of The Encampment reluctantly likes Mitchie and accepts her help, but doesn't much like having an Enhanced having free reign of her camp. Still, Mitchie has a way of worming past most people's defenses, even the stiff-upper lipped General.
