ethos is actually pathos's counterpart. they observed the entire universe, with the both of them in another astral plane. they could see the past, the present, and the future of all infinite timelines of every single planet and every being. yeah. if that isn't fucking awful and mindscarring i dunno what is. it's even hard for me, the writer, to comprehend because of the massive scale. they're basically built like robots-- created for the sole purpose of watching.

neither of them were suppose to have emotions, or any thoughts of their own. the two just knew they were watching. who they were watching for, who told them to watch, no clue. after observing a particular universe for a little longer than they were suppose to, ethos begins to form the concept of free will. they realize that they didn't want to watch for the entirety of their infinite existence.

pathos told them plain and simple: "you know that there are many paths you can go down. we both know how each of them end." and lets ethos go without a fight, since pathos has not yet formed the level of emotions ethos had. ethos descends down a million or more planes in order to reach our galaxy, the one they had been glued to.

but instead of becoming some sort of heroic savior who had the power to stop all bad things for occurring well... ethos wasn't about that. ethos wanted to have fun. they have contented themselves to basically fucking everything they can over. why? well... because they can. it's like a child setting an ant on fire with a magnifying glass to them. they enjoy watching beings-- whether human or supernatural-- suffer. perhaps this is because they have seen so much in the world that they literally can not bring in themselves to care about anything.

they have a plethora of powers: shapeshifting, shadow manifestations, teleportation, telekinesis, mind manipulation. although very powerful, their current state is a weakling compared to what they were when they were a watcher. however, they have closed their 'third eye' of sorts in order to focus more clearly on this universe. if it was to be opened again, it would be so overwhelming from the lack of doing it so often that they would basically just... shut down and reset. they would go back to their astral plane and become robotic once more.

so they tend to make sure that it stays closed. this limits their power and they can not see the infinite galaxies or possibilities like they use to. if they focus on something, they can see the most likely potential futures, but nothing is concrete. they do not use this power for the most part.

they studied our world pretty well. they have found about lucifer and disguised themselves as the embodiment of Fear, deciding to work with the devil. they're amused on how he thinks that he's basically the one who can tip the scales, since they know he's basically just a tiny grain of sand. although he's 'loyal', he does it more because it's fun rather than the fact that he's scared of what lucifer will do (unlike most others).

the alias Fear is what most supernatural creature know them as, which is perfectly fine with them. those who know them hold them in high regard... and are generally afraid of their carefree, nihilistic nature.

one of the beings ethos has met is death, which they fall head over heels for. after all, death and general fuckery like paranoia go hand in hand. death isn't amused by their flirts, and it's hilarious to ethos because death thinks that they're just a small being compared to them. ethos is more than certain that one day they'll win death over. they like to feign being human and faking their death in order to go to death's realm often. death isn't very pleased with it.

APPEARANCE — their true form would be a behemoth. i always pictured them in a dark shroud made of galaxies, and they would be slightly humanoid but not. a white, wispy figure, with no real detail to it. human wise, their appearance is easier. they can take on several forms, but they have two go to ones: a tall, feminine form with dark long hair that curls at the end. in this form, ethos has light skin, a slender frame, and blue eyes. their male form is only slightly taller, with dark black curly hair, brown skin, dark eyes, and a muscular build. their masculine form is the one they take the most often.
