Profile
Belazar's natural ambition and his former adventuring partner's keen interest in the strange and forbidden led the two of them to form pacts with an otherworldly entity of unknown and terrifying power. It's difficult to say how much of Belazar's growing corruption has been due to the influence of that unknown being and how much has simply been an evolution of his own greed; but his escalating behavior was enough to push away the only companion he'd ever wanted, a bitter fact that he refuses to acknowledge, much less consider his own fault in.
Driven by a hunger that can never be truly satiated, Belazar's definition of what he would consider food has expanded to include just about anything and everything, and he's gained a particular appreciation for the meat of humanoids. Without Ravik to steer him toward anything better (or, in Belazar's opinion, hold him back), he has devoted himself to becoming the leader of what can be described only as a cult, in order to put himself in the best position to continue amassing power... and indulging his appetite.

Relationships
former partner
His feelings toward Ravik turned romantic over time but he was never in a rush to act on them, until he ended up missing his change entirely. Their relationship fractured some time after they bound themselves to their monstrous patron. When Belazar's increasingly amoral choices and expanding diet became too much for Ravik, they began to distance themself from him before finally disappearing from his life, leaving behind nothing but a short note.
Belazar views Ravik's disappearance as nothing short of abandonment, even a betrayal, and is consumed by a bitter grudge. He isn't sure what he would do if he were to see Ravik again, at this point, for it's hard to decide if he wants their suffering or companionship more; but he knows that he would give anything to see them again, and that nothing will be the same once he does.
right-hand man
Their relationship, never anything close to equal, only became more unbalanced when it turned romantic, but Belazar doesn't mind. Subservient, loyal Ezekiel has proven himself to be reliable as well as competent, and he caters to Belazar's preferences with no objection. Belazar wouldn't describe what he feels toward the other man as love, exactly, but he certainly values him and enjoys their time together.
Ezekiel is too loyal to challenge him in the ways Ravik sometimes used to, too calculating for impulsive behavior, too submissive to push -- all traits that, to Belazar, make him a worthy partner, but a bit dull in comparison.
Patron

Ifren,
the many-eyed beast from beyond the stars, the lord of the outer realms, the riftborn god.
The source of Belazar's magical power, his otherworldly patron is every bit as enigmatic as the tales suggest. It prefers not to directly communicate with its followers. Occasionally, Belazar will get a sense of what Ifren wants from him -- and, rarely, he may even have the impression of a word or two in his mind, spoken in an unknowable and terrible language yet with its meaning clear to him.
Belazar is careful to always do as bidden; pleasing Ifren and spreading its influence and power means more power for himself, after all. He wouldn't go so far as to call himself devoted (though he often plays the part of devotee; people always want something to believe in, after all.) He is a loyal follower insofar as he does his job and he does it damn well, but his motivations are self-serving. Faith and religion have never held much interest for Belazar, but power is a different matter, and Ifren can be a generous benefactor.
Ifren's endgame is unknown to even its followers. Many suspect its eventual goal is to corrupt the material plane and remake it in its own monstrous image, and, while Belazar might miss some things about the world, he wouldn't much mind if that came to fruition. He knows he'll be rewarded greatly for the role he's playing and, as long as he has power and plenty to eat, Belazar cares for little else.

(Side note: while Belazar's profile and design lean very heavily into the Subeta riftborn aesthetic, he and the other characters in his group are equally inspired by the Far Realm in D&D. I was a player in an almost 6-year-long campaign whose overarching plot involved an extremely powerful entity from the Far Realm that was on its way to godhood. Wanting to get a few riftborn pets here gave me a great excuse to draw inspiration from that memorable campaign and combine two of my f!)
