Esmerelda
Esmerelda (ez-mer-EL-dah), sometimes referred to as simple Esme (EZ-may), is the owner of Subeautique and the premiere voice of fashion in Centropolis.
Biography
Esmerelda grew up in a large family; as the youngest of eight she would always get the hand-me-down clothes of her older siblings. Her mother was busy taking care of the other kids, and her father worked constantly to afford what little the family had. Esmerelda taught herself how to sew at a young age so that she could repair her clothes, and make new ones out of scraps of cloth. Soon whenever her brothers and sisters needed holes patched or seams repaired they’d come to her.
Eventually Esmerelda made clothes for everyone in her family. It was her dream to become a famous fashion designer, to make clothes for everyone to enjoy. As soon as she could, she moved to Centropolis in the hopes of gaining recognition with her line. Sadly she spent years trying to gain a start in the business and never succeeded, but after years of constant rejection she saw her true calling. She opened up a shop called Subeautique to sell the lines of other, more successful designers. Subeautique opened with three distinct lines; Morning Bell by Hazel, Void by Poison and Mauvicorn by Unicornvomit. All three lines were an astounding success. Esmerelda and her shop became popular overnight.
Many more lines have been sold in Subeautique recently, including Symphoni Nacht’s Bloody Sunday, Sougara’s Modair and others. Unfortunately, the sudden success of her shop has gone to her head and she is quite snooty about who comes into her shop and what lines she’ll sell, all of which have been of the highest prices, highest quality and most famous of designers. However, her most loyal customers don’t seem to hold that against her. No one quite knows what Esmerelda will release next, but the people of Subeta wait in anticipation.
