BATTLE OF THE BANDS FINALS!
Well, they\'re finally here! Holy Oracle there were a lot of entries. I actually had to work! At least some of you had the foresight to give me a good chuckle. Or maybe that was just accidental. Either way, good work, everyone that entered!
We\'ve narrowed the finalists down, and have 6 finalists for each genre. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the R&B/Soul genre as there were so few entries, entrants from that category were moved into the \'Other\' category to be judged. (I guess Subeta has no soul! Or rhythm. I\'m sure we have plenty of Blues)
Now, to find our Grand Champion, the bands are going to need some support. This is where you guys come in! Have a look through our Finalist Showdown and pick your favourite band, the one you want to support right to the bitter end. That\'s the band you\'re going to be battling for! And how do you battle, I hear you ask in wonder? Well, you need to play Street Team of course! Woah! Much game! Very battle!
For now, scores can\'t be sent - we want to give you a chance to pick out your favorite bands and get familiar with the game for a few hours first. But starting from around noon tomorrow you will be able to start sending scores - and each score sent will go towards your chosen bands total! Users can send 3 scores per day - or 4 if they have a Gold Account. VIP users\' scores count for 25% extra towards their total! (So, a score of 20 will give you 25 points!)
Now, prizes. There are going to be a variety - but seeing as you guys continually impress us with your skills, we haven\'t yet decided exactly how they\'re going to be distributed. There will likely be prize(s) for the winner of each genre, and then the grand champion will be rewarded - along with all the people that supported the grand champions band. There will also separately be prizes for users that submit the highest scores, so even if you are in a team that maybe aren\'t doing so well - you can still work hard and achieve something on your own! The Grand Champion band will get to work with us on designing some items, so all prizes will be awarded after Peka-Boo has come to an end. Score-sending will end on Monday 28th, again around about noon so that we can tally up the scores and announce the winners in the evening!
Every one of you could be instrumental in getting a band to victory. So pick who you want to support, and stand by them! Yeesh, that was a lot of information. I\'m going back to my tent.

Kind of annoyed that I put a lot of time in on my vacation for our band to not make the cut. The bands that made it are amazing, and I don't begrudge them, but it's upsetting that I (and I'm sure many others) spent a ton of time perfecting our band to basically be told we get nothing for all that effort. I mean, a "hey you entered" SOMETHING would at least make all that time spent mean something.
I'm glad to see so many of my friend's bands made it and plan on supporting them, but it's sort of time completely lost for, as you said yourself, 400+ users.

Staff has said that just by clicking on a band that you support you earns points for them,You don't have to play the game,Your presence earns points too if you find the game difficult.

@Predator: A band does not need to have five or six people to be regarded as a band. I fail to see how the bands with less members are automatically less deserving. That is such a rude thing to say. Why should the number of people in a band matter? A few of my favorite bands irl have only two people.

I managed to score 351 and I am tempted to let the window open until we can submit our scores for real because no way in hell I can make these numbers again my hand HURTS
As for the battle of the bands itself, I knew it was an avatar contest type thing from day one because if it was something to do with actual music making it would be an EXTREMELY limiting activity, I for one know jack shit about music, I think most people don't, so that would have been a bit sad for most of the population

Okay, with over 400 entries, I can see why this would come down to a staff decision but I'm still not comfortable with it. I feel like some of the more creative bands got shoved unfairly out of the way for those less deserving... and no offense, but a duet of skeletons should NOT have made the finals. Every other band is 3+ members strong and even three seems too few, imo. Also, I love how this is a "battle of the bands" but basically, it boils down to a costume and creative writing contest. XD Perhaps next time you guys could have an actual synthesizer so people can actually make music to go along with their bands? If we ever see this event again, that is. :/
As for the game, it's not... impossible but I don't know how well it'll serve the voting process. With costume contests, it was anonymous unless someone wore their costume on the forums. With this, I don't see how it'll stop from being a popularity contest and the inclusion of both GA and VIP advantage, just skews this contest even further.

As for the way to vote for your favorite band, I wonder why the staff decided that playing a flash game that has awkward controls was a good idea. It's not. People who don't have flash gaming skills won't have much of a say in voting. There's one instance of voting inequality.
Not only that, but the gold account and VIP members have score boosts. That's not fair to have an "elitist" group have more of a say in voting. Sure, a regular user can be awesome at the game, but they don't get the voting perks the "elite" group has. It just would be fair if no one had those voting perks.

I got the promotional candy, too, and thought it was cute! It definitely got me to check out the band itself. I think I like some other bands more, but it definitely made them stick out. It was creative and fun and I don't mind it at all! It's fun to get random messages/gifts like that. :)

So I got one of the candy boxes asking for support, and in my opinion, this is FANTASTIC initiative! Being a member of a real street team for a band, I can tell you, this is how they work in real life. Getting their name out there so people can check them out. And guess what? In my initial perusal of the bands, I didn't look twice at them, but after the candy promotion, I went back and really checked them out. It worked. This isn't a bribe, it's called promotion and they're doing it right! Good luck ladies!!

For the record, I'm sending out the candies from SUG★R AUDIO, but they're not bribes! Whoops, I didn't realize there would be so much fuss over it. We're trying to stand out from the crowd with viral advertising!

Somebody from SUGR AUDIO just sent me a giftbox with a lame promotion in it. First of all, that's weird because my comment literally said that I like NONE of the bands, zero. So I know they're just going down the line sending them to EVERYONE. Second, DON'T BRIBE ME WITH BAD ITEMS I do not have a supple baby brain that can be swayed by crappy bribes. - You will be able to support ONE band. Bands are encouraged to put in a link to a forum thread where hopefully they will hang out with you, get more supporters, really get some support going. You essentially all become one big team, helping out your chosen band. This is where the bands can put together all those graphics they've been making! (And set list, and any extra thing that they want)
- Bands themselves can play the game and earn points for themselves. I believe we may have made it so that you automatically will be supporting/promoting for your own band if it's in the finals, because you gotta love yourself before you can love anybody else, can I get an AMEN *sashays away*
- Every score will count to the end scores, so we encourage everyone to /try/. Even just submitting a few points could bump your band into victory!
- If you have no interest in this game, or battle of the bands itself - I'm not sure what to say. This is what Peka-Boo is all about! Just picking a band and getting involved with them could be really fun, if you tried. Otherwise, there's always dearest Oatmeal. Or our other site games!

Congrats to all the finalists! I have no idea who I'm going to support. One question though - is there a point cap to the game? Like when we submit scores for the regular games there's a max sp you can earn, so is there a max amount of points we can send our band?

Zero of these bands made me laugh, and the outfits just aren't holding the bad ideas together man. I am deeply disturbed by the lack of high class taste going on here. Since I don't like any of the bands so won't be playing the game, will there be anything else for the rest of us to do for the next 5 days? Seems like there hasn't been much so far once we've bought what we wanted, fed the goat & made wishes. Some other types of carnival games would be nice to pass the time.

And kudos to the Subeta team for coming up with the Battle of the Bands and all their hard work to bring it to us.
That said, a couple of comments. It was pointed out to me that none of the finalist bands has members wearing zombie coverups. That is disappointing to me in this environment . Of course to be fair, perhaps you didn't have many entries with members wearing zombie coverups. Second, I am very unhappy to see a game requiring coordination as the winner and prize award selection method. I understand that almost any method of user participation will displease someone however, and it is nice that you are letting all the users stay involved. Finally, I do applaud you for limiting the number of game entries per day and also for making the game play at a reasonable speed, thus at least ameliorating the need for coordination.
One last note - if I missing making direct congratulations to any finalists, it's because I took awhile making this comment, and was not intended as leaving you out.

@Rah Highscore cumulative? or per one game? or cumulative per band? In this case people will send scores for every band each to get prizes in case any of these bands wins
