Get Your Brew On: Design Your Own Microbrew
Alegarten is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate it than by running a user contest?
You will have until September 22nd to design your very own microbrew that will be sold at the brewery during Alegarten!
What does this contest involve exactly? You will be naming your drink, coming up with a fun description for it, designing a logo that can easily fit on a label, and deciding other fun factors such as making it a six pack or a single brewed drink. There are so many possibilities! You can incorporate NPCs from around the site into your design, such as having Lukien brew up something delicious. You could also design a drink around one of our species, like a brew strong enough to take down a mortiking! Again, the possibilities are endless. Note: Your drink should be a brewed drink such as an ale, beer, cider, lager, etc.
You do not have to draw the item; our artists will be making the official art. You can submit art for your logo or just a detailed description.
On September 22nd at 11:59pm, we will be closing submissions and opening up user voting. You will be able to vote for 5 of your favorite drink ideas. On September 28th at 11:59pm we will be closing down voting and the top 5 drinks will be created to be sold at the Brewery.
If you win, you’ll be getting a free copy of your delicious drink as well as your choice of an item from the cash shop (retired or current, though CSC cards and GAs do not count) and 15 forum shop points!
Please don’t try to create or consume any actual alcohol while participating in this contest.

@Hamda @SAKE It’s being sold in the brewery and is for Alegarten, so yeah it should be a brewed (that's why we used the word microbrew) drink like ale, beer, etc.

Does a ROOT beer count? Ginger Ale? Something fun and non-alcoholic? ( I know we don't actually drink on subeta haha) But I think it would be fun to have a root beer or ginger beer/ ale!

this might be a silly question, but does the cash shop prize also include items from CS bonus weekends (the special items you get when purchasing CSC)? i would think those wouldn't be included as they're not really "cash shop" items and are intended to be rewards for spending actual money on the site, but i just want to make absolutely certain.

I’ve had a programmer edit the information on the page to show that the “describe your brew here†is actually the item description section and the logo section should be for the other information like general feel for the bottle or like the page says “If you are just writing out what your logo entails, please be as detailed as possible. @Hamda I wouldn’t make that your main focus, but I don’t see why you can’t include a general bottle shape or something. If I were entering this, I would def include things about the bottle like “x glass color, x general shapeâ€.

Can we edit the description after we (hypothetically) win? I mean, for myself personally, I like a shorter item description (I have what I feel to be a good item description in my description box.) but if all that we're given to describe our brew is the description box, then I need to edit my stuff because I have more info I could put in instead.

@Squid @Nike Nope! When voting opens, all the ideas will be anonymous (as in the usernames won’t be shown). People should be voting for the brew they think sounds the best, looks the best, is the coolest, etc. I personally will be keeping in mind my pets when I go to vote because there is some great potential for TC items out of this!

I do see your point of view but still agree to disagree. I'm satisfied that it's not irl and I doubt that a theoretical 13-year-old who actively plays Subeta will be able to win such an in-depth onsite challenge.

This is all just my opinion though, and I do sympathize if this is unpleasant for you. I just think there's plenty of alcohol on Subeta already and the contest is a cool way to get users more involved, especially the less artistic or culinarily-inclined.

Totally see what you mean @kbbob ... it's just how all these weapons make people want to go out and fight and kill. Or is the fact this isn't your design a weapon idea really at root here ? Would you see someone arguing what I just said about weapons and not roll your eyes ?

@DeadGeisha Try to make it subeta related! Anything obviously based off something like a TV show faces the chance of having issues with copyright.

We have a few examples of not having like ale, beer, etc in the name for our Alegarten drinks, so that’s fine. :) Just try to make it very clear in the description what it is! (Example of one of our drinks: Mug of Helles with the description being ‘Order this pale lager during Alegarten, and you will get a hefty liter mug! But not to worry; while a liter might look intimidating to the uninitiated, this beer is so light and refreshing that you might find yourself downing it quickly and asking for more.’)

This is super fun - I had a spur of the moment idea and created my drink, but I do wonder how popularity will affect the actual voting. Will our usernames be hidden during the voting to discourage this? I'm simply curious.

The contest is not telling users to go concoct an actual alcoholic beverage. If you are of age and can drink, it just gives you a bit of an advantage for flavor profiles.

@SHIBITO I’ll edit the news post to include this but — It has to be an item like old minions, plushies, beanbags, etc. You could pick an old trunk like So Coy Heavy Chest. You could pick a specific animal out of the animal chance machine. CSC cards and GAs do not count.
@Bathory As long as it’s a beer, ale, cider, etc you can use any NPC/inspiration! It’s going to be sold in the Brewery but it doesn’t mean it needs to be fall themed. :)

It's a fairly easily obtained currency though, unlike referral points which are really hard to find people selling.
I do prefer this way over increasing rates, but people complain about the points because they don't prioritize items they really want, feeling like they need to buy one of everything asap and they don't often want to buy the points. You have said there are no plans to retire the forum shop items iirc.

@kbbob It's a currency people often want (because those items are rad) and it's better than increasing the odds they go out to where the points become super cheap :p
