What background? I thought he didn't drop anything worthwhile. I've given up on trying to figure it out.
Well, Subeta is a petsite, and they work to keep the site updated and with new features, such as games, battle challengers, plots, events, shops, items etc etc etc. So... that's why nobody should be upset about this.
It IS a different style of opponent, sure... And maybe it's not that impossible to beat (like ANY weapon, randomly... just a bunch of weapons that rotate and will take a lot of time to figure). But the whole staff shouldn't be foccused in new shops, even because Battle Admins don't have any connection with the new shops system.
And it's not because we have 502s, issues with new shops and other problems that the site should completely stop being updated (mainly bc it's no one's fault but the evolution of internet/coding, something nobody could guess 10 years ago AND bc it's not a thing to be handled by everyone in staff, only the coders, while the other staff members will keep updating the site for us to play)

I think it's understandable why people are upset? Sure its not the most important thing in the world, nothing on Subeta is, but its frustrating esp if you're a battler and you take it seriously when you get on here, and you find that an opponent is simply just random and it has nothing to do with actual skill or all the hard work and time you put into training and weapons. Not to mention if you want to beat him you either have to find the crazy random weapon that will get him, or you risk having a loss/forfeit or even never beating him when you've beaten the other opponents in the Coliseum. So yeah.. that's understandably upsetting on here. Its even frustrating to someone like me that doesn't necessarily get into battling and doesn't have a battle pet and actually has Tier 1 pets that you're supposed to be able to fight him with. And really all you want to do is get the pretty background because you love backgrounds Lol So now that I've written a novel, that's why its upsetting to some.
The Troll doesn't actually annoy me all that much. It's his apalling grammar that really gets me. ;D

They used the Hikei Grooming Brush or something like that, but it's not working because the weapon needed to defeat him change every hour or after a number of defeats.

@Styles thanks for your opinion. I also thought it my be a possibility that you need a special item in your inventory, but seems pointless now....however maybe it is truly just random I got no clue
What if it's not the weapon. What if you need to fight him with a pet that has a HIGH intelligence?
@badblacksheep I don't think it's worth it for anyone to put out a lot of SP until people can figure if there's more than just randomness to his madness. And the one winner had a simple shield apparently (who knows which one?) so I don't think that's worth 65million unless people are taking advantage of it.
Just wondering if it could be worth spending about 65 million Sp on a special weapon. Just to hope getting lucky. Honestly I am unsure. It's probably to much to ask if a staff member would be so nice to rule this out or in :D

yeah.. no, I'm out of this. The do nothing strategy hasn't done me any good after about 50 turns, so I just quit for now. Atacking obviously did nothing either.
I love the art though. Have you seen that HUGE nostril? Stick a magic wand in there, it's said to defeat trolls.

This is one very amused troll. My pet lasted about 25 turns until she lost all of her hp. And, I think others with much stronger pets have tried my theory?

I have an idea. The best way to fight an internet troll is to ignore them. Trolls feed off of your attention, so ignoring them makes them upset. Then, they leave out of boredom.
Maybe try not doing anything the whole battle? I'm going to try with my tier 3 pet, but I don't know if she has enough hp and defense to hold out the whole battle.

I'm just reminded of the story of the troll under the bridge and the sheep trying to get to the other side. They outwitted the troll by saying there was a bigger sheep coming behind them that he could eat.

Well, if you look in the Items Directory, there are no new items that would be drops, so even if this guy can be beaten, he may not be able to be beaten yet. That or the fifth drop items are old ones, which is possible.
I find this pretty funny nonetheless. Hm, maybe items that do only one sort of damage and nothing else? Gotta put my pet in the resort and wait an hour before I can try, though.

Oh I don't know.., I personally found it hilarious enough to fight him with a tier one pet just to lose, after I realized that none of my weapons, or potions or any of my usual tricks would work against him and forfeited with my battle pet. There might still be a trick to defeating him..., but I'm too amused to care. "Trolololo" :)

So, with no apparent way to quit a battle, Am I locked out of battling forever? I really don't feel like going thru 400-500 turns so the troll can whittle down my battle pet. I am NOT amused Subeta.

@kbbob - I didn't see the 50 icon weapon until about 50 turns in lol. and I only got the 25 icon weapon about 10 turns in. I feel like maybe I later I will regret not bringing my AU.

@tobiko - that's why I said within each category, but I guess that can get confused with the tabs.
@moonstarr - They are sorted into easy, medium, hard, very hard, extremely hard, and impossible, so they do get harder the further down the list you go, but you can tell the bridges between each gap when you get back to the beginning of the alphabet (see Willowisp - cursed irion, that's the jump between easy and medium, but I would consider Cursed Irion one of the hardest medium challengers, where willowisp is one of the easiest easy challengers)
And scrolls being disabled is not a glitch, it's just something some opponents do, this new troll guy being one of them.

Guess I always thought the list was ordered based roughly on difficulty, since the easier opponents are towards the beginning of the list, and the it seemed to get more difficult as you worked your way through the list. ... I never noticed the alphabetical thing before. Maybe I can take on some challengers I've never tried before, then. That would be cool. :)
Also as a side note, in the battle, it seems my scrolls were somehow disabled - did anyone else have that issue, or was it just a glitch on my computer?

Guys, just so ya know, the order of the challengers in each category is NOT based on their difficulty, it's alphabetical. He's paced after prodigy in the list because his name starts with a 'T' which comes after 'P' alphabetically.
Ok. I knew going in there had to be some kind of catch, being his ultra low stats, yet he's placed after the mage (the hardest hitting "normal" opponent). Even knowing this, I still fell for it. Now I'm stuck in a battle. At least I don't feel too bad since I apparently was not the only one. Time to forfeit. Darn, Julienne was drooling over the thought of more experience points.
And for the record, i really REALLY hope it's not something like only certain weapons will work against him, because then it's like the omen islands plot all over again where a completely untrained pet with the right weapons could take out the big bad impossible bosses. (Unless maybe that's the point :P Anyone tried to take on this guy with stats equal to his?)

Guess I'm a puzzle solver at heart. Thought maybe since he kept blocking all my weapons and we were told to outwit him I should just heal and he would steal that and somehow lose a few health points, but no go - :-) . Such a cute little Troll he is too. So funny!
