A thousand sorries, but I had to know what it would look like.
I think of Artax! My most absolute favorite movie The NeverEnding Story. The wolf Gmork frightened me, the Nothing was creepy, but the Swamp of Sadness with Artax still makes me sad to this very day. :(
Now that I have relived that traumatic time of my life, it's nice to see that this is referring to a Kelpie instead. :D

Wow, that's awesome, but darnit, you would make it a bhh item. sigh Now how am I supposed to get one for the wardrobe and one for Backahasten?
My first thought was Neverending Story.... but Artax was white.... maybe after the swamp of sadness got to him? Hmnnn.... or a kelpie.... either way, onto my wishlist it goes....
My immediate thought was Skyrim's Shadowmere as well. :p I remember wondering when/if Shadowmere would appear during the Dark Brotherhood questline and then going out to see her rising from the black pool. SO COOL
I know; first impulse is to get sad. But I'm fairly sure that it's ascending rather than sinking, and also fairly sure that it's a kelpie or an aughisky or something along those lines.
To the people who think this is a drowning horse, it’s actually a fae that takes on the form of a horse and tramples people and/or eat humans, depending on which culture’s mythology/take you read. Also commonly known as a water kelpie.
