(Late) Friendly Thursday Challenger
Mathis doesn't fight out of anger. He's more the kind of guy to break up a fight. The only thing likely to get him to lash out is being confronted with the one thing he spends his life trying to avoid. If you can find out what that is and unlock Mathis as a challenger, be gentle! He doesn't mean to hurt you. But he WILL hurt you.

Everyone should be aware that it DOES take MULTIPLE tries. I wasn't counting mine, but it definitely took quite a few. For many people, 10 seems to be the right amount.

Finally. Used my newest/weakest pet fighting Pock, Saper and Riscors with a Sir Skittleton attached and lost about 10 times.

I finally got him to show up after losing to Prodigy about 10 times. I was about to give up, but I'm glad I kept going.
I'm having some trouble, anyone got tips for me? It's just not seeming to trigger for whatever reason--

@Jai Remember to check your challengers, you may have gotten the event without noticing.
I've done everything and I'm ready to pull my hair out. I've changed my pet's minion several times. I've battled with no weapons. I've friended and done all of that stuff to no avail. What am I missing?
@PrincessJudith I'm using my lowest battle set, but deselecting the weapons once in battle. No joy yet on the challenger front though!
Can someone tell me how to battle without weapons. I removed all my weapons and now I cannot battle

-It has something to do with LOSING a battle.
-It has nothing to do with the wardrobe/wearables/HA

@Ziorac Well, several previous commenters (@Laurey) have mentioned that Mathis is dating Victoria, whom if I'm correct is a pilot in Ziara. Problem is... I have no idea how to find her @jKat (psst, a little tip here?) :sweat_smile:

according to @Wesker she hinted it wasn't wardrobe related.

So not to look like an idiot but how do these work? I accidentally unlocked Esmerelda recently and I have a suspicion for Mathis but not sure what all things/actions count. Like I see people talking about active pets, wearing items, doing things and coming back. Is it specifically actions or DOING things or can it be as simple as having an item in your inventory?
You guys are the worst, how come you haven't shared the sweet details yet??

There is one other thing that you need when you lose and it has to deal with what would make Mathis mad. It's sort of the opposite of the things he likes.

Everyone: You might want to wander over read the last couple of pages of Battle Chat. There are a couple of hints there. I still haven't figured it out though, but am pretty sure it has to do with battling.
I tried a pen, pail of water, zombie cat, fire extinguisher, a bomb, a sword and the cronus blade but nothing! I got work early and stopping for tonight.

Rolled my hipottu pet over some store - and the library shelves all over subeta and sadly they didn't stand a chance. I need a proof or a source of these fake news because stating something like this is irresponsible and someone might get hurt. At least my hipottu is not amused. Who hired this man? Was laboratory testing performed in order to support these claims ? If so, on how many hipottus? Did any animal get hurt in the process?

Wow, this is difficult. I never was good at riddles. Hopefully this doesn't require a person to have a pet hipottu or something.
and of course, I'm dealing with a mild headache that can go into a migraine... not helping to try to find challenger :S

Yeah if you don't have good weapons -- and good scrolls! -- you fight several tiers below your pet's tier. ^.^;;

I don't know why but I thought Mathis would avoid writing/pens at all cost. I wonder if we can play him at Rock Paper Scissors. xD
Has anyone tried bringing a Forj to him? I somehow doubt that, though. It's gotta be something doable for everyone, and I doubt staff would want to base it on a decently rare-ish item that would require to be traded around.
Has anyone tried giving the "dead" minions to their own pets and either visiting Mathis in his shop, or his pet? Or perhaps naming the minions with dead related names?

I tried adding Captain Cuddles as my pet's friend and going to the pets profiles and to his shop, didn't work
Its pet month, he has an Archan and gives and Archan-themed prize, wiki says "He has a soft spot for cats"

Must have something to do with woodcraft. The news description goes on about Mathis' very nicely made shelves. Maybe he hates broken or badly made furniture?

ugh I love mathis. Unfortunately I didn't get to unlock him out of sheer luck this month :P We'll have to think harder!
I thought maybe something to remind him of his past with the SAI, since a lot of these challengers have been unlocked based on some traumatic experience.
