Some people on this website need to get over themselves.
Thank you to the staff who continue to work on this website.
You don't have to like every single thing they change or add--I certainly would never claim that I do-- but you DO need to be respectful.
Not everything is about you, fam.

I still think making revamped items transformable between the old and new versions is the best solution to this problem.

@Jasper
I'm aware that the word "revamp" has been misused in the past to mean completely replacing an item with an entirely different item. If I hadn't known that, I wouldn't have said I was grateful they hadn't done it again.
When it comes to wearables, drastic change and destruction are the same.
Let's say you took my favourite vintage blouse out of my closet because you thought it was out of date, burned it and stuck a shirt you thought was cute in there without asking me. Let's also say that your choice of shirt does not go with any of the outfits I usually wore that blouse in.
In the real world I would still have the option of selling your shirt choice on eBay and buying another blouse of the same brand, colour, style and size. If I couldn't find one I could still go to a seamstress to have one whipped up or sew it myself.
But on Subeta, neither of those options is available, because every single blouse of that style has been replaced with a line of code, and the original item no longer exists to be purchased from someone else. It's also against the rules to submit CWs that heavily reference official site items.
My argument isn't about majority vs minority. I don't care how many people on the site were using the items. I'm saying that as long as some people, regardless of their number, are using and enjoying an item, it should not be replaced with something someone else happens to want. That's not the only way for you to get what you want. You could go to the Fireside suggestions thread and ask for dragon costumes. You could draw or commission a CW. Neither of those actions would prevent other people from continuing to put small amounts of dragon scales on their avatars because they enjoy doing that.
My argument also isn't about telling you to shut up. You have the right to argue in favour of actions that others believe are wrong and unfair. And everyone who disagrees with you has the right to tell you they think you're wrong, and to "double down" if you keep repeating arguments they find unconvincing.
My question to you is, are you really arguing that precedent is sufficient reason for an authority to continue doing something after people affected by those actions were hurt by them, protested, and asked that it stop?

I appreciate that the scales kept very similar to the old ones in their form, I tend to use them a lot for semi inhuman HAs, or for mermen. I'm definitely also in favor of giving the elf ears multiple skin tones!

I didn't buy the mortiking bottoms because they always seemed too old and ugly for me. Nice Revamp.

@Valiska Do I really need to bring up the drastic changes brought to the Irion, Tigrean, Serpenth, Darkonite, Fester, Ruffie and many other pets? I already brought up items they already "destroyed"--your words, not mine--with their revamps so I'm not going to repeat that point. A point raised, by the way, to show you that revamped can mean completely remodeled. I don't know why you're doubling down on this so hard but could you please stop bending the truth and putting words into my mouth? I merely stated how I hoped the item was going to go because I don't see it's functionality in its current state. That's not a demand, it's a minor lament. I also don't want to "destroy" or take "anything away" by expecting more out of a revamp. Change doesn't equal either of those things or do you consider the item now ruined because they've added a few scales?
I'm also not liking the implication that, if I'm a part of a minority opinion, I should just shut up and keep it to myself which is a bit of a yikes™ because, not only can that derail into more serious topics/implications, but it's not a popularity contest. News comments are for adding your two cents to things the news bring (and let's not forget I didn't have a problem with the morticlaws despite them being so different from the original. I just want to be able to accessorize them properly sometime in the future. That's the only complaint I have.) Of course you can disagree with me, I don't care if you do but this level of condescending correction and immature exaggeration of my words is crossing a line and I am formally requesting that you stop referring to me/my sentences in such a way and stick to the facts.

Elven ears are a must on all my HAs, I've always loved the scales and I can 100% see myself actually using the claws now. This is so nice :')

These items are not my cup of tea, but they sure needed some love from the artists.
The revamp is so much better! especially for the scales and the claws and their image on the HA.
Thank you Subeta artist who re-drew these :)

I'll just chime in with a billionth request that the elf ear be made in the other skin tones!

I’m happy the scales didn’t turn into whole-body dragon skins, I love to use them as an accent, almost like jewels :3 I like having skin features that aren’t just 100% pre-designed skins, stuff I can layer up to create “custom” skins of sorts. Especially making custom zombies, which the red scales in particular are really good for c:

@Jasper: Revamp has never meant "destroy the original and make something completely different" in the English language.
If you want new items, ask for them. It's very presumptuous to demand that the artists go back to demolishing things people were using in order to make new things, when there is nothing stopping them from making new things without destroying anything.
How exactly does it inconvenience you to get new items if those items can be made without destroying things that other people like and use?
It doesn't matter whether you, personally, can see a use for any given item. You are not the entire userbase of this site. If you read through the comments, there are several other people posting here who have thanked the artists for improving these items without destroying them.
Why do you think your opinion is justification to take these items away from those people so you can have a dragon costume that could just as easily be released as a new and separate item?

@Valiska Revamp also means to revise and it's only through those years of user complaints (of which, I am aware,) that the artists restricted themselves to what the items were previously though it's not every time. Take the recent Kanis Slippers revamp: they completely changed the item and the wearable so it's not out of bounds to expect a radical change to an item when it's revamped. Don't forget about the avian boots, (owl, harpy, raven) where they were completely redesigned (for the worse, imo.)
Also, understand, my complaint comes from the lack of use these scales have. Who's going to need so few scales on their avatar? If it was more encompassing, I'd find more use for it personally and technically, they did add more scales to it so what's a few more?

Man I was just thinking about how badly those morticlaws needed a revamp. Much better anatomy all around there, excellent job!
@Siellby @Brioche
There isn't a "claw" inside the dragon scale; it's a trick of the shading caused by the contour of the ridge running down the middle of the scale. The scale isn't smooth, but has a slight bend in the middle, kind of like the shaft in a feather.
You can see it more clearly in the old version that Jasper posted, because the shading is less complex and it's clearly defined by lineart, whereas the new one uses shading alone to imply the shape/texture.

I -THINK- you need to actually hide the HA legs in order for these to work. As in using the new wardrobe limb/body part removal feature.

ooooh these are lovely! I'm so glad the blood on the elf ear was kept, I always thought that was great.

Also I do wish the lines on the inside of the elven ear weren't black. It looks unnatural that way. But I like it anyway. And I'm glad the earring wasn't removed.

Wait...*squints*
I didn't notice this until someone else mentioned it, but WHY do the scales have claws in them if they're scales? Or is that how scales are supposed to look? Can't say I've ever seen one close up.

I just tried to use the Morticlaw with a colored, non-white background, and part of the spaces in between the claws are white, not transparent? This needs to be fixed in order for the item to be useable with non-white backgrounds.

I love how the red and green dragon scales have a bit of translucency. You can visually see the nail bed within the nail. Bravo! So realistic!

@ohwellheythere65 Sadly, the elf ear only comes in the one color as far as I know. It would be cool if they would make it transformable into different skin tones, like the art prints.

Ohhh, these are really lovely revamps! I'm very happy to see that the general feel of the originals have carried over into these revamps, but with very nice art updates. I used to use that elf ear a lot but haven't recently just because of the awkward black line it had; now that the line is gone, I'm going to have to make some new elfy HAs! :D
My thanks to the artist/s <3

@Jasper -
"Revamp" does not mean "completely change the nature of a thing."
Revamps are supposed to be updates to make the art look better.
Whenever "revamp time" has been used as an excuse to completely remove an item from the site and replace it with something that is totally different, the people who were actively using that item have been furious, because the thing they liked is gone, and the new thing doesn't do what the old thing did.
You hate "dragon acne". I get it. I'm not a huge fan myself. But someone out there is, and that someone is really, really grateful that they can still wear the new version the way they were wearing the old version.
It sounds like you should be requesting a new item set. That way you could have the dragon costumes you want, and the people who like to decorate their avatars with dragon scales don't lose the ability to do that.
There has been so much wank and anger because items have been "revamped" into something completely different. I for one am grateful that this is not happening again.

Also, this is gonna show my age like crazy, but I can't hear "What time is it?" without thinking of that one chant from Teen Girl Squad.
"What time is it? It's Valentimes!
What time is it? It's Valentimes!
What we gonna get? Several boys!
How we gonna get 'em? Uhh...umm..."

Yessssss! I've been hoping and waiting for these to get revamped for some time now, had the Kirin Scales in my vault just waiting to be put in Sakua's TC. That plus the shiny Green Dragon scale means his treasure hoard looks that much prettier *_* Nice job!

Those thick mortiking tails give me hope for whenever the dragon tail items finally get revamped~ ♥️

For the sake of item name consistency, shouldn't the Morticlaw also be renamed to Common Morticlaw?
I really like the elf ear and morticlaw revamps. The kirin scale is okay. But I guess I just don't understand the dragon scales. What are they suppose be? Like sequins on a dress? Rhinestones? Decorations? I always kinda pictured them as leftover bits from a weredragon type transformation.

So these aren't so bad. I'm going to miss the overly huge feet of the original mortiking claws but the anatomy is certainly better. Now if only they had tops to go with it... As for the dragon scales: I'm not exactly sold on these. Out of all the items, I was hoping they'd be properly revamped, giving us an actual scaly outline or be an entire, body encompassing item. But no, we're stuck with the dragon acne, unfortunately.
