Made a blob pet with a sand dollar scientific name, now just to wait for Merena 8D I love this pet so much! <3
Sooo, now I need this. Made the blob. But cannot remember for anything when Merena appears. Is it once a month? at random?? Ugh. Why don't I know this??? :P
Wish I could edit comments here so I could add more - but I do mean to say, I love this, and it's my new favorite Hydrus pet. Hydrus pets are seldom ever cute, and I'm not a fan of most of them, but I am of this one. This poor blob, brainwashed to be a mindless, murderous minion of the evil sea witch - and yet he's just a sand dollar, so all he can do is just sit there and be cute with his hypnotized eyes. He almost looks kinda sad to me, like he wants to be snapped out of it. "HELP ME, I'M BEING CONTROLLED BY MERANA!" You just wanna save him. Aww.
I wondered how you could make a Hydrus blob, The first thing I thought of was a brown blob with the usual Hydrus fixings of spikes, angry blue eyes, fins, barnacles, seaweed, Hydrus markings, and bared teeth - even though Blobs don't have mouths! Making it a sand dollar makes perfect sense to fit the Blob theme of taking a new shape with each color, often resembling something related to the color (such as a red blood cell for Bloodred or a pile of rocks for Arid) - though that might just mean the Hydrus Blob is the least evil of all of Merana's minions. The swirl eyes are a clever idea. If you can't make it look angry, make it look hypnotized. Aren't Hyrdus pets all brainwashed, anyway?
HOW TO MAKE THIS PET:
First you need to make or morph a pet into a blob pet in BLOBLAND
Now you have a blob and you need to make it hydrus. You can do so by finishing one of MERANA'S QUESTS
She might not be home, you might have to check back later. She's pretty strict when it comes to getting her beauty sleep.

Technically living sand dollars are like black/purple and it’s their dried dead bodies that are this white/cream colour so you could argue that this blob is a zombie! (I’m not critiquing at all!! I just saw a living sand dollar a few years ago and it blew my mind, plus I love to share a bit of knowledge :) )
All this to say... I’m gonna need more blobs.

the blobs are all so cute, love how unique each of their designs are! they manage to balance details and still keep their tiny cute simple vibes, good job with them!
Also, I wouldn't say finding living sand dollars is rare. As a ✨child✨ I found an insane amount just like an inch or two below the sand right at the shore line. I brought them all home. Which was not a fun smell btw. And then we bleached them 🤷♀️ I loved them until they got lost in one of the moves. But it honestly blew my mind to find out they were living.
Cute usually isn't the word to describe a hydrus pet, but the Blob actually pulled it off!
Oh my heart. I love how someone asked “what would a sand dollar look like with this face 🥺?” and we get to enjoy the result of that.
I talked SO much smack on the Blob when we first voted and I have firmly eaten my own foot on that multiple times. bounces at the map hurry up you angry old bat I need to add to my Subetamon collection!
Oh my goshhh, it's a sand dollar, how adorable! I also love how it's face is just slightly peeking out on one side! A perfect addition to the already wonderful line up of Hydrus pets!
@pointycatears Yeah, a jelly would have been more "blobby" in my opinion too. I guess that was the too obvious choice.
Sand dollars aren't as hard as most people think though. We usually only see their hard endoskeletons on the beach. Seeing a live sand dollar, with velvety spines intact is pretty rare.

it is really cute and I like the colours ... but the spiral in the eyes reminds me of a really bad symbolism ( - which is also often used in Disney movies and characters -) so I´ll have to pass.
I was expecting it to be a jellyfish or something. How soft are sand dollars? I always assumed they were hard for some reason.

I don't know which is more adorable, the big blue eyes, or the fact that it looks so stunned and swirly eyed. XD
