Luminaire FAQ
Each day throughout the month, Melody will be giving out new treats. There are two achievements regarding Melody’s Cottage. If you visit every day through the 25th, you’ll receive an Essence of Melody, which is essential to making a nostalgic pet! If you make it every day of December, you’ll get the Melody Regular 2021 achievement. We haven’t added an item prize yet, but there will be one before the month finishes.
For those worried about old Melody items they still need, we will be re-releasing them sometime this holiday and not through the Free Shop. <3
How do you get ornaments? You can donate sP to Melody after visiting her cottage for the day and receive an Old Box of Ornaments. When you open the box, you’ll find a random selection of ornaments. If you are missing ornaments, please file a ticket.
Only want friends to leave your gifts under your tree or maybe no gifts at all? You can adjust your Luminaire gift settings here.
Just a reminder that trees "open" on December 25th! We will have a news post when you are able to receive your gifts. <3
Note: When the feature gets released, this section will be edited with the changes for quick reference for everyone!
You can release snow fairies from your inventory for the Free all the Fairies achievement. There is also an achievement, Fairy Collector for having one of each color snow fairy in your inventory.
Luminaire ends at 11:59 pm on December 31.
The Free Shop will not be happening during Luminaire.

@Galaxia we've had ZERO communication regarding Mysterious Melody since this original post. It was stated, "and there will be a news post explaining it when it reopens in a few days!"
I don't know what constitutes a few days to the staff members, but it's been almost 2 weeks and nothing. Is there a time frame that MM will actually become live? Is it going to be extended since we've missed out on 13 days so far?
I'm not trying to be rude, but this is an integral part of Luminaire that many of us enjoy and to have it closed down for almost 2 weeks is very disheartening. It probably wouldn't be so bad if we could actually get a little bit of an update as far as what's going on and when we can maybe expect to be able to participate in it. Not only that, but why couldn't we have used the old system until the new changes became implemented? Again, I'm not trying to be rude, but it's a bit frustrating when there has been silence regarding a major feature of Luminaire.

@Noelle Christmas is next week, I'm starting to think MM is not happening this year, which is a shame, that is the reason I come on

@Lighthouse I know, we are almost half way into the month and still no MM. I can't help but hope they'll extend MM as we've missed out on 11 days of it so far. They said, "there will be a news post explaining it when it reopens in a few days!" Well it's been MORE than a few days and still silence. We are almost at 2 weeks of nothing.

Well, it's been a week into Luminaire and still no Mysterious Melody. Honestly, that's the funnest part of Luminaire for me. I have to wonder how much longer before it's up and running? I really hope it's soon! Happy Lumi everyone! :)

Argh. Am going to have a naked tree this year. Have cleared my cache, even tried a different browser, used up all my 'free trees' in an attempt to be able to see my tree.... All to no avail, still cant see it so cant 'dress' it

Sucks that the site was broken all yesterday and I couldn't visit Melody :( I was looking forward to getting the achievement this year. Lost my almost 40-day streak at the bathhouse, too.

Ah, shoot, I missed the first couple days because I was moving. T-T No achievement for me.
Excited for Luminaire though! Can't wait to see what we get from Melody for the rest of the days though.
Side note, I think I recall a previous post saying we'd be getting morotside goodies from quests during Luminaire due to the huge lag fiasco? Fingers crossed we do!

What a lovely news post! I'm still taking holiday notes to compile my little holiday guides and I apologize for not getting the handful of things up on Ashlynn's page. I did write some things down, but I never got on the laptop to actually add them to her page. This post is very helpful for when I have the guide ready for next year!

@METROID? Dang, I had no idea I missed it. I thought I had been pretty active this past year. I remember it being advertised as "Coming soon" but then it never came. I suppose I took my break right when it happened, but I was so tired of waiting for the nebulous "Soon" I half-thought it was scrapped.

Is this website's "economy" so bad that The Free Shop will just like... never happen anymore? The website is 1s and 0s with a loyal fanbase that dwindles each year. But man, y'all are quick to give people who subscribe monthly a free item each month.

Will the trees be made more compatible with tablets? I’ve tried to move ornaments on my iPad, and it keeps opening the long press menu instead…

@Opossun I had that happen to me, but clearing cookies and cache fixed that
Now I'm having the issue where I can't see any trees on the forums or in profiles, but at least as of today I can see trees when I click the link to gift trees. Hopefully that's fixed before the empty tree stuffing happens in a few weeks cos it'll make things a bit harder if it's not.

Can we have some option to opt back into gift settings once you've selected the "no thanks?" I prefer not having to remember or rush to turn it off every year. People mean well but I really don't want anything under my tree.

@Malevolive Have you tried going into Wardrobe and making sure you are signed in to New Subeta? That's usually what the issue is if forums aren't loading.

And I wish we could organize the ornaments in our ornament inventory in some way. Took forever to locate all the of animal ones I wanted to use. Also hope we get some new ornaments in the boxes this year. :)

I have a few friends that I'm not sure are currently active, but I went ahead and put some things under their tree just in case. What happens if they don't look at their gifts this year? Will they roll over into next Lumi?

Should I have some hope that maybe we'll get something like the gift exchange back? I miss using it. Not many used it even though I tried get some interest for it going then some found a way to game it and it was permanently shut down. :(

Aww, I'm sad we'll miss out on a few more days of MM... I've looked forward to getting to toss presents back and forth with people all year. But, at least this gives me a few more days to stockpile.

@PiinkSparkles It’s generally winter, like around Christmas or New Years. This year we had it like a few months ago, though, so it’d be silly to have something that big again so soon. I’d also rather do it during a “dead” time instead of during a holiday!

@Unwritten I know there are currently two that are going to go out (very soon) through Melody's Cottage but at the moment there are no sets going out via the box! Sometimes those come in at the middle of the night and I get a nice surprise in the morning, so who knows.
