Hey everyone,
First off: sorry. I pushed Survival live and a bunch of stuff is broken. If you've been hitting errors or features that just aren't working, you're not imagining it. We know.
The short version is that a lot of Survival's features are connected to systems that are mid-transition over to Kumos, and that's causing things to break in ways that are, frankly, annoying to deal with on your end and ours. We're actively bringing things back up right now.
I mean, would it really be Survival if nothing went wrong? (The answer is no. It would not.)
We're in this weird in-between place with two sites running at once, and it sucks. It's exactly as conflicting and frustrating as it sounds. There are going to be bugs. We're squashing them as fast as we can, and if we need to push dates back to make sure everything actually works, we will. I've posted elsewhere about how we need to do this transition, and now sooner than ever.
And for stuff like the Kissing Booth feature: the whole point is to get you as many hearts and goodies as possible. That's the goal, and we're going to make sure you get there.

But yeah, thank you guys for managing events (that could cause minor bugs on their own pre-Kumos) and lag all while mid-transition!
I'm not sure if there's a feedback thread somewhere for the kissing booth feature but I would love a confirmation pop-up on leaving a booth group! I just accidently left a group on mobile and it resets all your stats (which.. also might be abusable because of how users with the least amount of kisses are prioritized by the system??).
Additionally I'd love it if the button to randomly kiss a group member came before the member list and leave group buttons. It makes for less scrolling on mobile, but I can understand not wanting to move things around mid-event and throw people off.

I also access via mobile all the time. Everything is crunched together. Even the HAs'! I'll most likely be spending less time once the move happens. It's too frustrating

@Nebet @omg_carrie I'm also disappointed that I can't get to the forums on legacy. I spend a lot of time during any event in the "_____ the User Above You!" threads, and it looks like that won't be in the cards for me this year.
@Iza Yeah, I can already tell that I'll be participating less as well. I've kissed fewer than 10 times and I've gotten my targets from my friend feed and the billboards that pop up when I navigate to my personal post history, since I can't get into the Survival forums on legacy.
@Shinko @Bliss 100% I've also been dreading the day when I will no longer be allowed to use the legacy site, and (as I see gemajgall said earlier) I'm sure I'll be spending less time on Subeta when that happens. (I also find that Kumos is less friendly for mobile users, which is how I normally interact with the site.)

even just a hover over the grayed out text that says the timer would be nice. or if its grayed out you can hover over it and it will say this user isnt seeking your virus
Minor feedback for the biting aspect (not sure the best place to put it so if theres a feedback thread i missed let me know)
but it would be really nice if you didnt have to refresh the page between bites, like on the old system. now when you bite that post has a permanent message that says you bit them. so in order to bite again (for example if youre biting someone multiple times) you have to refresh. it also looks like after you bite someone the action is grayed out so you have to keep refreshing to see when you can bite again. in the past you could try and bite again and see your bite timer, now there seems like no way to check bite timer unless you try biting someone else (which if you are trying to help someone with a specific infection would just mess up not one but two people if you bite someone with the wrong virus)

Agreeing that Survival forums should be usable on both sites - this is probably my top problem with Kumos right now - I totally understand why we're moving, I get why things are the way they are, but as long as we're spread across both sites you HAVE to accommodate for that. I think this is a big reason why a lot of us dislike Kumos so much - when 90% of the site/event/etc runs on Legacy or both sites, but one part is Kumos-only, it's _really_ annoying to have to keep swapping back and forth. People are gonna stick with the version of the site that runs the smoothest and is most familiar. I understood it with Melody since that was a new version of the feature, but since this is just the forums I don't see why they need to be Kumos-only? considering that the forums are otherwise mirrored on both sites AFAIK.
(I agree with a lot of other comments re: Kumos but I won't repeat myself on this one... just commenting on the forum thing since it seems like an easy fix to me.)

I would also like to know if the survival will be available on legacy. I find the forum design on kumos kind of confusing, especially having the booths together with the non-booth posts. Unless there is an indicator I'm not seeing?
Also on the kumos forum design, the yellow/blue paws near the usernames tend to catch my attention more than the title, making it annoying to read the titles. I think it was better having the poster info on the other side, like the legacy table format.

@Bliss I have no idea what’s even up with mine, and kumos is currently barely usable every page takes forever to load, if it does at all 🫠I really hope it’s extended because this is the first year I actually have time to play around and get as many strains as I can since I only have a handful.
My sympathies; upgrades-in-place are the hardest software development projects and I'm actually in the middle of being deer-in-the-headlights about a modernization project at work. :laugh:
I have to agree with the voices that are pointing out that Kumos is a buggy mess. I get that the site needs updating for numerous reasons, but as it currently exists Kumos feels like a downgrade, not an upgrade. It’s very slow, the navigation is cluttered, and half them time when trying to use it I hit an error that I can’t get by. I’m honestly dreading the final migration.
o.k., now I'm on Kumos, looking for the booths - the news page has no links nor does this entry?!????
The sideboard link for the forums is still broken and leads me to a page that claims I need to log in
I feel sorry for you guys because the code is not playing nice BUT I have to say, waking up in Europe to Survival starting followed by "oh no something went wrong" is kinda a well-loved tradition for me, it just feels like home xD <3 Thanks for your hard work!

I can't tell you how much this Kumos site annoys me, and I'm not alone. I'm not one of those “oh, how great you're doing, I'm thrilled” people. I'm annoyed by these constant apologies for this and that not working. We've known for years that the events don't work after launch, but now switching to a new site is annoying. Change is often difficult, I know, but then to ask if it wouldn't be Survival if there were no mistakes is, in my opinion, a joke that's totally off the mark. But anyway, thanks for the work you're doing, even if it doesn't work. Never mind. The hard core will always remain loyal to you.
Survival was the thing that attracted me to the site it the first place, but Kumos is just so slow and broken idk if I'm going to participate this year :'( I just didn't do anything for luminaire that moved over
You're right - it would not be Survival without the glitches. We understand. Thank you for the updates. BTW, the new survival merchandise is so cute.
I'm just happy to see that Survival is proceeding and moving over to Kumos with all the features we love and even some new ones! That's exciting! The kissing booth is cool; I'm having a lot of trouble loading pages right now but that will get ironed out. VIP worked fine for me and I can't wait to see the strain progressions. Thank you so much for all your hard work, Keith and Subeta team! <3
The kissing booths would be a lot easier to use if the sidebar notifications that say "kiss them back in the booth" linked to the booth. I don't know which booth the notifications come from because they don't say, and the Kumos forums are so laggy that it's a pain to navigate them to try to find the booths I've participated in.
I undressed my HA, saved it, but I'm wearing clothes again from a prior HA from Kumos. I did not select this HA. My wardrobe shows a naked avatar.

seconding Angelica, I would love a version of the survival forums on the legacy site so I can continue doing survival activities even when kumos breaks...

But if the whole plan is to eventually abandon this site and move to Kumos? ...PLEASE make it more navigate-able. Please include more links (like how this site has links in the top right corner), please make it more intuitive so we can find the things we do, please just...better UI all around. PLEASE.
Because if we're forced to Kumos as is...I don't think I could physically keep playing even if I wanted to. And I do want to.

I just wish the Survival forum would also appear on this version of the site :( I struggle greatly with navigating Kumos
Just wanted to show my support and appreciation!! Joined subeta as a kid and still here as a whole ass engineer 15 years later (only a dream at the time!). I know this kind of stuff isn't easy to deal with and people don't like change at all, so sending my good wishes for everything to go as smoothly as possible, and we'll support the site as we always did! <3 <3

Thanks for the update. Weren't kisses in the kissing booth automatic last year? I don't recall having to physically gives kisses in them last year.
