๐Ÿ›’ Old Shops: Finally Retiring

Starting today, every pre-2014 legacy shop is being emptied into its owner's vault, a few shops at a time. You don't have to do anything, and you don't have to be online for it.

Legacy shops were retired years ago โ€” you haven't been able to stock or manage one since. What we never got around to was actually taking the items back out. There are still 20,131,269 items sitting in 37,712 old shops belonging to 23,645 of you. Some of that has been in there for over a decade! This is a massive table in our database, just hanging around and taking up space without being useful, and I'd love to be able to finally retire it.

When your shop's turn comes up, you'll get an event telling you which shop it was and how many items moved. If you're not around, it'll be waiting for you whenever you next log in.

A few specifics:
  • Items land in your vault's unsorted section. If you already had some of an item, the amounts are added together.
  • Shops go oldest first. The whole run will take about a week.
  • The old shop itself stays in your list. It'll just be empty.

โ€ผ๏ธ Your shop's sP is staying where it is. If your legacy shop still has sP in it from sales, that money isn't part of this โ€” it stays in the shop till, untouched. I'm working out that side separately and I'll say more once I have. Nothing is being taken away from you.

If something looks wrong with your items after your shop is emptied, file a ticket and I'll dig into it.

@Keith Thank you so much for all of your hard work on this! I'm a newer user so I don't know so well as many others, but i sounds like it was definitely overdue so congrats! :)

Does this also affect CW shops? I don't have one of my own, but I've been attempting to search for items that I know exist but they weren't coming up so I just wanted to know if that was why. I know that it also might be because they just aren't available in the shops right now. I would usually search by artist to find the item(s) in that case (which was a feature I used all the time).

I hadn't been to the CW shops for a couple of days though and it looks like they've been revamped and the ability to search by artist was completely removed, much to my dismay. T^T Is there any chance that the ability to do that will ever be restored?

Alexa play Taps for the old shops! ๐ŸŽบ

No but in all seriousness - this is great, and a LONG time coming. <3

hooray for out with the old in with the new! hopefully @Keith you'll take a look at the system for managing items in categories in our shops soon, it could really do with being caught up to the ease/functionality of vault categorization.

I'm glad that you've been doing all of these things, from the comments it sounds like they were overdue.
Hey @Keith is there any chance that we could get an update on when the CSC rewards for quest completion are coming back?

Good, it's been over a decade at this point so clearing out old data makes sense. Especially if no one is going to be losing anything, just throwing the items somewhere else on their accounts.

I think at this point the "new" shops have been around longer than the "old" shops before the new system was created lol.

Amazing. I guess none of us knew, there still were old shops on Shop Search (it was such a hassle to clear them back then - I had to file a ton of tickets, respectively keep adding to one, because my items kept poofing) - so all those inactive account items are being taken out of circulation?

maybe soon the old plot shops can be moved to the Antique Shop
...as long as we get notice and ample time to use up our points first...

YES. I hate seeing my old shops in my drop down list! lol

I endeavor to be as productive as you've been lately.

Speaking of retiring shops...maybe soon the old plot shops can be moved to the Antique Shop? The earliest plot is from 2013--IMHO, it's long time for it to be in the Antique Shop.

How do we know how old our shops are?

and yes i have discovered i can use the highlighter mark html in news posts recently, why do you ask

in reality 90% of these shops are on inactive accounts that haven't logged in for years, but there are some active people with old shops still sitting around
