Secret Santa

Throughout the month of December, you can head over to the Secret Santa event, and be given a random parnter to send items to!

It lasts for a day, and you can join again the next day!

And, please remember, do not post what you received or sent in the Shoutbox. It's supposed to be a secret. ;)

I really want to know my secret santa....What did people send?

I found out if some won has to go to school or to work and you sent them loads of stuff and you dont get anything then they are maybe off line at work or at school.
elly: answering your question. I tend to like silly, amusing and odd items. Id always take interesting combos of items thoughtfully put together in a theme
(like balloons and cake for instance ) I don't think the SS is about trying to impress anyone. And sending UBs isn't possible for everyone. Expecting them is a sure recipe for a let down.
I think the thing is to have fun.. and try to make your gifts unique, fun and not worry if you are "spending enough"
Perhaps they're offline, Colubrifer. Or deciding what you send you back. Maybe you should have sent a more affordable item to see if your ss was responsive before sending an unbuyable?

I sent a UB and didn't get anything in return
B, I have fun sending and receiving items throughout the whole day no matter what they are ^^; Although my first ss was really kind, sent me an unbuyable as well as some more affordable items throughout our gift exchanging

Question:
of the following 2 choices would you rather:
A) receive ONE unbuyable/expenisve present from your SS
OR
B) receive 50 cheap/affordable/random presents from your SS?

Personally I think even 10 "affordable" random presents (for example a book and 2 or 3 minions and some food/clothing/battle items plus a wiz token) is more fun than receiving only one gift from a SS because they chose to send it all in one go....
Its fun but i keep sending, i have gotten anything from my SS. well atleast they are gettiing some good items in return

I usually give 4 or more at a time

I must say yesterdays SS was perfect. I sent an item I could track so to speak something not so commonly for sale and figured out who I was partnered with. teehee

nice. xD my person sent me ubs so i did the same in return
User not found:
Alkaline00 i defently agree with your 2nd to last mess
I must say yesterdays SS was perfect. I sent an item I could track so to speak something not so commonly for sale and figured out who I was partnered with. teehee I know I'm a stinker. I was happy to find I was partnered with a fairly new account that seemed to not have yet made many friends. I spent the day tracking down wishlist items for them. They in turn sent me thing that the were obviously earning from finishing quests. Values were no where near equivilent but I know I made someone happy.

I happened to know who was on the other side and the pairing was definitely not one where monitary values could be reciprocated. Truthfully I am glad it couldn't be for me ss is about trying to bring some joy to someone else. I hope between now and the end of the event those who who never seem happy about what isn't being sent, figure out the true meaning of the holiday season. Seeing the behaviour of others not understanding the joy of giving for the sake of giving is saddening.
Such a fun game

It doesnt matter what you get, as long as you get something in return you should be happy
Teehee, I do that too Kriswish =P I was shopping around for items to give to my ss and ended up buying two of most of the items ;D

i agree jenflower this isnt abount receveing its abount giving just because you send something expensive dosent mean youll get something expensive you guys are missing the point...
Jenflower, you make an excelent point. Its a good thought to keep in mind.

I have fun thinking of unusual and fun items to send and am happy with whatever I get back if anything. I do not want anyone to feel obligated to give me like items.

I cannot belive how many items there are. It's almost ooh thats cute, one for my SS one for me

I'm ready for another day of gift-giving. ^ ^ I hope my new SS enjoys what I have to give.
I have to agree with Jenflower. It shouldn't matter what you give but as long as you give something back because it's a nice thing to do. I can't remember who said it, but someone earlier posted something like you shouldn't be so quick to decide that your ss is cheap and rude or greedy because you really don't know what's happening on the other side. My ss today has sent me a couple random game items and toys that are only worth about 1k but I'm still showering them with items and they send me something back every time so I believe they're having fun and perhaps just can't afford to send something super pricey back to me and also it's not about what you get, as along as you're having fun doing it ^^;
I dunno... I want to believe in the good in everyone. Perhaps your SS is a child starting out, maybe they are in a sad situation and a touch of empathy and kindness can go a long way for them. It's the spirit of believing you are showing you care..Maybe your SS is in that awful storm power outage and can't get online..maybe they are having the worst day of their lives. It doesn't matter the reason.. I want to believe that I am making someone smile. Regardless of what they do or dont do for me.
I'm sorry, missatralissa, but it really sounds like you don't get it. My daughter's friend has nothing - she barely gets a chance to play unless she is at a friend's house. She was excited about the idea that she could send a gift to someone she didn't even know. She sent two free items to her Secret Santa yesterday because that was all she really had. But today she actually took one of the very nice gifts she got from her SS yesterday and gave it away to her SS today because she read all these messages and doesn't want to make her new SS partner mad. She gave what she could the day before, but I can't believe that she should be sent the message that she did something "cheap and rude". This is so sad...really. I guess her way of "participating" isn't quite up to your standards, missatralissa...does that mean she should sit out for the rest of the event? Is that how you think it should work? I honestly do not understand that way of thinking.

this is fun. me and my unknown person have been blasting each other with presents xD
I enjoy being part of the Secret Santa here at subeta . I love helping people and make someones day a little brighter . I always give from the heart .

Thank you to my Secret Santa for making my day . Also thank you Keith for allowing us to be a part of Secret Santa . I'm having so much fun helping people and making someone happy .
i wasn't saying you have to be rich to do this, in fact i said the gifts don't have to be expensive or UB.

what i said was that giving someone a FREE item is cheap and rude.

i gave a 5 point wiz token and two or three items that were from 4k-15k, and all i got in return was an item from the random game.

i was under the impression that this was set up for everyone to participate, thus if you can't then why sign up? how is it fair to shower someone with gifts and then get nothing in return?
I have one point.

When you sign up at work or school to do a SS you get at least one gift back.

I don't care about what I have spent. I enjoy giving people presents. But even a tea bag or random dice would be fun, just something to know I haven't been forgotten.

SS IS reciprocal. Meaning, at least one present should be exchanged if you sign up. Even if it's small.

Oh well.

Don't get me wrong, I have NO problem with gift giving, I just prefer pounding my friend into oblivion with items. It's fun to get her annoyed at me.
some are im giving more then my ss has but i dont care about the gifts im just doing it to make someones day
User not found:
Admittedly I am somewhat stingy, but most of what I said was based on what I read. I saw that some people were... annoyed that they spent more on their SS than their SS spent on them, which is why I suggested the price range.
ewagon sorry to say this but that post sounded like your being stingy
User not found:
I think it would be nice if you could set a price range when entering the SS. They could use the same program that they use with the autopricer to get the value of a gift, then have an UB option. I think that would work better for the "complainers" lacking a better term and it would just be nice for those "stingy" people out there. my mind is blank right now But that's just my opinion. I'd rather give to someone I know though, as opposed to a stranger that I know NOTHING about. If I at least knew something about them, I'd like that better...
Goodness :/
I might have thought twice about signing up for the SS event if I had read some of the comments here first.

I just hope none of the ungreatful people who posted here are my Secret Santa partner.

Though I doubt they are, my partner is a lot of fun. We have 'themes' going right now xD
bmg
You rip open the giftbox to find ...

There's a lot more where these came from. What a grumblebunny you are! Just be happy someone is sending you anything at all. Merry Christmas...even if you are being a bit of a Grinch.
1 Point Wizard Token!
Back

Hah! I'm sorry for the double-post but no one else would say anything and I have to go. Thanks to whoever sent this (and there are a couple more). You're right. I am a "grumblebunny" and I apologize.

In my defense, I bought items for my Secret Santa--of equal or greater value than the tokens--I just thought it might have been nice for them to have taken the time to shop as I did.
bmg
Point taken Momento--I guess I shouldn't complain. It's just that I really am trying to shop, even with that annoying 1 second screen coming over and over (no matter how long I wait before loading a new page) and I do Wizard Quests, too... I don't know. I guess I've had a bad day and I'm taking it out on my SS. Sorry, all. I'll go away now.
I guess the only thing I worry about with SS is that my person likes what I send them. I don't care what , if anything I get back. I think it would be great though to be able to find out when this is all said and done who we were partnered up with.
i just now sighned up cause ive been busy

o_O

...I'd be glad to get 10 point wiz tokens.
bmg
Okay, NOT to complain (and honestly, yesterday was fantastic--I could barely keep up though I had a blast trying), but today's Secret Santa has sent nothing but 10 Point Wizard Tokens...

I understand the difficulty of shopping for strangers, but at least TRY, right? Am I alone?
It really is embarrassing to read people complaining about not receiving a lot of gifts. I don't agree with missatralissa at all. No one should feel that they aren't rich enough to spread a little holiday cheer through the Secret Santa activity.
I signed up for a Secret Santa yesterday and gave some very nice gifts in the morning. Then, I was unexpectedly out for the entire day and when I returned late last night, I gave a few more. For all I know, that person could have been posting here during the day to complain that I had "disappeared" during the day and that I didn't give enough. That would be really sad. Luckily, I have enough sP to send really expensive gifts, but it's incredibly tacky to complain because the sP amounts of our exchanged gifts weren't equal. To me, the fun is in getting that surprise message that someone sent something to me. It's also fun to think that one of these "Secret Santa" days I might actually be helping out a poorer Subeta player.
I entered yesterday for the giving not the getting,I didn't know it was going to get so competitive.

I would rather have a list of poorer people to donate to or not be giving to the same person you were getting from. Whoever I got either had as much as I did or was digging into their gallery and I would feel badly if they were. Maybe there should be a limit to how many presents you can give or something.

I can't believe how many people are complaining about getting less than they recieve. We are completely missing the meaning of Christmas.
maybe this is just me, but if you can't afford to do this then why sign up? it seems very greedy to sign up only to get gifts!

don't get me wrong i love giving! i give random gifts to people i don't know all the time, and i NEVER expect anything in return! so trust me when i say i love to give stuff. but isn't this SS set up for BOTH parties to give?

and i'm not saying the things you give have to be UBs or really expensive items, but to give someone free items just seems lazy and rude. we can all get free items at any time on here, so why would you think that's a good SS gift?

personally i feel if you can't afford to do it then don't sign up... but that's just me. and please don't think i'm greedy, i just want this to be fair. and i know nothing in life is fair... and we should give not to receive... sigh so i'll stop now.
If you give your SS great stuff, and they send only Slots items, I would suggest then sending them a Dung Fruit.
User not found:
Or why dont you buy a Token for them.
foxi, why not send them something smaller but useful or well thought out like even maybe 3 or 4 items in a theme? something to show you appreciate it even if you cant afford to meet their gift on an SP level?
I feel bad...I don't have any really rare items, and yet, my SS sent me a big one. And I don't have anything that good in return...=/
User not found:
i gave like 5 items, yet nada...
a couple of people ive spoken to mentioned they didn't like the "selection of gifts" to send to the SS. They didn't realize it was reading what they had in their own inventory. I think that MIGHT be why many people got their gifts back. I'm thinking a number of folks who are new to this didn't make the connection between inventory and the gifts one can pick to send.
I don't really like the idea of sending a bunch of items and getting nothing back.

So I test the waters by sending an okay gift. If I get something back, I keep sending gifts. If not...I just don't bother. Depending on the item(s) they send back, that's the price range I try to match.
I have had the very best secret santa, and even if they didnt send all nice stuff i would still send the same nice items i have been sending. . all of you who are complaining stop and realize what the true spirit of giving is all about.

I knew this event was coming so i planned the past few months for it.
all of you who are just exploiting others you should be ashamed of yourselves. Merry Christmas everyone.
