Unless when the layer expires it removes an item - which I would assume it won't because your extra pets don't get removed when your GA expires - then it would be useful to someone like me, who tends to leave their HA the same for long periods of time. However, I can't see it being very efficient for people who change their HAs frequently, as many are apt to do. Since it expires, I think it would be more appropriate it if it were a MC item, especially since there's a max number of layers you can add. Then maybe have a permanent one be a more expensive CS item.

I would love something similar that is permanent. It can be more expensive. As it stands, I know I would never use it because I play infrequently enough that it wouldn't be worth it to me. But if there were a permanent version at some point, I would most likely buy enough to add 1-2 extra layers on face, head, and legs, maybe others.

I spend at least $25 in the cash shop every month, between what I buy for myself and for my daughter. This does not seem cost-efficient to me. If it were an increase of +1 to all layers for 31 days, I'd buy it. But to have it apply to one layer (face OR background OR other layer) only doesn't make any sense. As someone else pointed out, the GA medal gives essentially 24 Ooh La La layers PLUS 9 other perks, so a GA medal at $5 is a much better deal.
Not to mention you can't buy $1 worth of CSC. If you have to buy $5 worth anyway, you might as well go all the way and get a GA. CSC sell in $5 increments, furthermore. There really needs, at minimum, to be a way to purchase $1 worth of CSC to provide the buyer more versatility. It may not be the most comparable site (not a pet site), but it's an example of a site whose owner DID get rich and who eventually sold to corporate interests, yet the site still has a rabid following (even I still have a paid account there). The point is, you offer incentives to people to inspire them to commit to a year of paid time, and simply charging 12X the regular monthly price is just stupid. It's bad economics. Surely you're aware that buying in bulk is cheaper than buying many small packages -- of anything.

To those who don't have paypal I can see why they would say it's unfair, but I had to work during the Black Friday sale and thus missed out on good offers on things in my own store, let alone Subeta. For 1000 CSC, an expiration date of 31 days seems much too short, especially as it only adds one layer to one slot. It would be worth that much CSC if it had no expiration (or at least a longer expiration) or if it added layers to a few slots of one's choosing. As others have mentioned here, a 500 CSC adds a layer to all the slots for the same amount of time. I probably won't be interested unless changes similar to what I mentioned are made, or if the CSC value of it drops. I really like this idea but I think it's a bit oddly implemented, by the time you reach 5 addtional layers you're better off buying a GA. Maybe something more like 1k CSC for a three month expansion of all slots by 1? And more up to 3 if you want to be able to access 6 slots /w a GA active.

Mhm...after my GA expired I still had 3 items on my face layer until I did not change my HA. But now the third item is gone. And Im not really happy about this. I just want it back and not only for 31 days for 100 CS for one slot -.- Perfect!

1. Gold Accounts give you more than just extra layers. You also get the autopricer, extra pet slots, etc.
2. A layer gets added for <i>every</i> slot with GAs.

Well, first off I really appreciate the subeta team for listening to users and allowing this option. Things just keep getting better and better which is awesome. I personally love having this feature because layers = more HA experimentation. I don't know about anyone else, but having HAs is really exciting on subeta. *_*

Love, love, LOVE this option!!! It's a fab idea for anyone wanting to really spice up their HA... especially for the face area... so many fabulous items! Hmm, I'll admit that I was a bit iffy on the expiration at first, but after thinking it over I realize that this is a good move. After all, I doubt a lot of people want an extra slot for EVERY layer, so it's not like they'll have to shell out a ton of money every month; just enough to renew the slots they want. :3 This offers more customization to avatars. And even if people make really stupidly cluttered avatars using these, at least they're donating money to support the site. n_n (or buying from users who have donated money, whichever.) You can ignore the icky avatars. I bet there are a bunch of people who'll use the extra slots to put finishing touches on really amazing HAs, too!

What I was trying to get at is that Subeta seems more centralized on making money than it had been in the past (I'm saying this being here for a while, keep that in mind). In the past the cash shop items were something you could buy to do a great deal for your account (the weapons it sold etc had large benefits in them), now it seems like almost everything can be turned into a cash shop item (although not as much as a few months ago as I mentioned), and even cheaper items were for sale churning in and out. While this was a smart move business wise it felt like other parts were being neglected. While some might have been satisfied with this some non cashshop using members might have gotten bored. And some of this audience being people who don't appreciate that. But you make a point, I forgot about the ultimate game card.
I will tell you now that the lack of ads is one of the things that has kept me on this site. I have to praise you for that. And I'm glad that you say there won't be expiring items. But what I was trying to say is that it being cheaper or permanent and more expensive would be more of use to you (or even for more areas). If it was cheaper people would be more likely to buy it. I can see this being a successful item if it was priced or used differently. Whatever you do it's your choice.

Presumably, the layers still remain if you don't remake your avatar after the expiration date, right? If that's the case, I don't see a huge problem as one can easily make the SP (or money) <i>on the side</i> by the expiration date, to buy the books again. It might be very mild commercialism, but Subeta makes up for it by having CS items (and on another note, SP), be easily attainable without having to buy them with real world money.

I feel like there are a lot of people criticizing this now (myself included), and forgetting that this is a really nice feature, which users have asked for. Although I really hope that the feature is tweaked (and I wouldn't be surprised if it was, I think Keith and the subeta staff do listen to us users a lot, unlike on some other sites), it is a great new feature for them to give us.
I also don't think that subeta is going anywhere near as commercial as other sites. Neopets and, to a greater extent, gaia are focusing so much more on items you have to buy with real money, and sometimes it feels like to have to pay to enjoy the best features of the site. PLUS, subeta doesn't have obnoxious ads all over the site, so they need money from the users to make up for that. Also, I will say that expiring items are <b>not</b> something that we're interested in pursing. We do not plan on adding clothing / etc that expires after x amount of days, and that includes minions, etc.

If you value what we're selling to you, you'll try to purchase it. Last year we started supporting the ultimate game card, which was a huge step forward for us.
We don't have ads on the site. Take a look at any major company website, including companies that are making <strong>billions</strong> (worldofwarcraft.com for example) and they have ads. We're at a huge disadvantage as far as money making goes, because I have <strong>morals</strong> and am not interested in becoming a millionaire when I'm 20.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with the final paragraph. We don't expect anyone to have a credit card (or paypal) and don't expect anyone to spend money in the cash shop. If you value what we're selling to you, you'll try to purchase it. Last year we started supporting the ultimate game card, which was a huge step forward for us.
We don't have ads on the site. Take a look at any major company website, including companies that are making <strong>billions</strong> (worldofwarcraft.com for example) and they have ads. We're at a huge disadvantage as far as money making goes, because I have <strong>morals</strong> and am not interested in becoming a millionaire when I'm 20.

Eh. This kind of disappointments me. The site is becoming way too commercial, and these expiring items are really pushing the limit. Yes, putting the GA into consideration this is cheaper, more ideal for avid HA makers and like the GA it expires. But if you really look into it for this you get 1 extra layer, not to mention on only one <strong>area</strong> for a dollar, for a month. A 1 month gold account adds a layer to <strong>all of the areas</strong> for 5 dollars (that's the equivalent of 24$ worth of ooh la layers), and has 9 extra features. So 1 feature for a dollar each, or 10 for 5. Getting what I'm saying at how this is a bit unreasonable? Don't get me wrong I understand that this site is a business. But it doesn't seem like this is going to be a big hit at the way it's going now. Either lowering the price, making it available for all layers, or making it permanent would have made this more successful in my mind. It might attract a few hardcore HA lovers for a while but the masses aren't going to buy into this.

We-ell; I'm sure the HA fanatics won't find the expiration date vexing at all. On the whole I'd say they'd be much more glad for the fact that there's a way permitting them to use more layers even <i>with</i> the perceived drawback. I think it's a great idea~!

Seriously, its a buck. If it were any cheaper, we'd see so much clutter it would be ridiculous. This is genius. I'd think it is more for people who have that one layering combination that they couldn't achieve before rather than for people who want to pile on as many layers as possible.

I'd buy this if it wasn't for the fact that you only get to pick one layer. If this affected ALL layers I'd buy it, it would be like a GA but only with the layers part, and I think the 100 csc price would be fair because then people who buy a GA to only use the layers will have something they can use without having to pay for the other benefits of a GA that they never use.

Meh I actually think it being temp is more apt but applying to just one layer, if one was to really want to have it be meaningful it would require purchasing 3-5 so I would just opt for the GA which increases one slot in ALL areas plus gives other benefits as well. I'm glad it expires. That means it'll pretty much only be for the people that care enough to have that many extra slots. The last thing we need is everyone running around with 6 slots for each layer. Say no to over cluttered avatars!~

The only thing that kills this for me is that I have to pick a single layer. For 100 CSC I would have loved to see an extra layer for all categories. Maybe consider a 25 CSC item that gives a single extra layer to just one category?

And just as another (more coherrent) note: I totally understand the expiration date. I change my HA enough I guess that sometimes I'll need that extra layer, and sometimes I won't. So I know that personally I'll get my moneys worth for the month. It's a choice, I guess.

Sometimes I really want just ONE more item on my HA, so this is a great addition. It's understandable to have an expiration date. Perhaps at the end of the 31 days, a reminder could be sent out in an event saying 'would you like to renew ___ amount of slots?' so users don't forget <img src="http://images.subeta.net/smilies/6398_emoticon_raspberry.gif" border="0" />

As for the expiration date, one of these items costs 100CSC which is essentially $1. The pack of gum that you're going to buy with that $1 (or the cheeseburger for $5) lasts 30 minutes (vs 31 days).
Just like GA benefits, we feel like this is something that should be renewed.
