Warning: Themes of drowning
Ey, that water isn't hot, it's not even steaming!
Are you sure, bruder? It must have cooled very quick if that's ze case, I am sure I put hot water in there!
I'm not sure you did, einzeller.
Just lean in und check, if it's completely cold I'll do your clothes wash for a month!
Ha, you're on!
…*splash*
What are you doing pushing me?! Well, for one thing you're doing my washing for ze next four weeks. Pappnase. Ey…no what are you doing? Open ze hatch! Mein bruder! This isn't funny, don't let the water in, oh god, oh god Gunter I can't…..breathe….please………………
These hazy memories have been like a dream that Bubbles couldn't quite remember for he doesn't even know how long. How long has he been in the Underground? He knows that he likes the warm and dry earthy sub-terrestrial town, He doesn't like the water. He knows that, but not why. Except…he does know. He drowned. He was drowned. He was betrayed.

Bubbles' nightmare has manifested into corporeality and it threatens us all. The water swirls around us, we can't get enough air, our feet kick and push us only into more water. We will not go this way, we must beat this! Help Bubbles' face his nightmare now by picking up the Eerie Mash Tun from the Cash Shop and defeating the Drowning Betrayal!
Flickering Light Bulb will retire on March 1st.

@Life IMO you have a selective memory. There was biting, I know this because I was one of the very first with the hearts in the eyes zombie and folks were wondering what I was doing to them. It was humans vs zombies and while there was indeed the masks and shrunken heads and Dr. Lockhart there were users who ragequit when their HAs got messed up.
Users didn't all of a sudden become zombies, there were stages then, just as there are now. And once the biting happened, there was no question that the disease was causing zombiness. It is reasonable if you see someone in stage one who is still not yet a shambling hulk that they will indeed become one. If you didn't know how perternaturally strong your brother is yet but absolutely need to protect yourself and his family, yeah you'd joke around and do a trick rather than get bitten or infected in the scuffle yourself.

I really liked Gunter for some reason.... T-T
I wish I saw it sooner, after all the crime shows I watched..

I mean, that's just your headcanon. We just have half of the story here: Bubbles was murdered (drowned, no less) by his brother.
We still need Gunter's testimony.

So, which one of you is volunteering to stroll on up to that drunken, mountain-of-a-man and say:Everyone is condemning Gunther without hearing the whole story,. so they are the ones who are fabricating. What I have is not headcanon, what I have are reasonable doubts.
"A little birdie (or should I say fishy) just happened to tell me that you might have killed your own brother? What's that about?"
Maybe you'll end up 'helping' to clean out that mash tun next. ;)

From the Subetapedia entry for Gunter
"Tends to get very melancholy after drinking too much; feels guilty over what happened between him and his brother over the brewery"
That sounds like a business rivalry/jealousy thing more than a zombie thing. And during the original Pandemic, citizens didn't know what the virus was going to do, so it wasn't like there was a rash (zombie pun) of murders and the uninfected were slaughtering the sick. There were surgical masks and charms to ward off the virus, and Tits McGee telling everyone to stay home.
He drowned him in a fermenting tank while they were working and joking around :|

Oh my god yes thank you for finally letting us know how Bubbles was killed. I've wanted to know for so long.
I almost drowned in a river when I was a child. True fact.
I don't think Gunter had anything to do with it though. squints

so I guess Alegarten is cancelled? should someone maybe take custody of Oatmeal, Emma and Esther maybe? Or maybe this is like the Darkheart Phantom playing like he kidnaps Melody but really there's more to the story? fingers crossed
@Greg Bubbles is a zombie, so there's no headcanon there. And we know that the uneasy dead become ghosts, that's Jaxon, so there's no headcanon there.
Everyone is condemning Gunther without hearing the whole story,. so they are the ones who are fabricating. What I have is not headcanon, what I have are reasonable doubts.

What...no... Gunter...why?!
But I love Gunter though. I hope Solsticesprite's theory is correct. We need to hear Gunter's side of this. No judgment yet, only sadness and concern. Please don't let this screw up Alegarten. ._.
(Seriously though, I approve of the dark storytelling, just wish it concerned NPCs I cared less about lol)

I'm not joking @Wolfmyth. We know what causes zombieness, it's a bite, or in the original Pandemic, it's in the air.
Gunter saw that his brother was Infected, and to save his family from being eaten, did some self=defense. There was no cure for zombieness the first year, we had no idea that there would be one.

wait people didnt get this from the subetapedia articles? omg ive assumed it was murder for so long. so eerie and dark. i love this side of subeta. x:

I'M GOING TO DELETE ALL THE BEERS I BOUGHT FROM HIM AND ALSO MYSELF I FEEL HORRIBLE MOTHERTRUCKER DUDE

It's entirely possible that Gunter murdered his brother in a fit of jealousy. Perhaps Bubbles was better than his brother in some way or maybe he was the favorite. Whatever the reason, envy festered in Gunter's heart as he watched his brother get all the attention. Gunter wanted nothing more than get what Bubbles had by any means necessary. The hatred and envy gradually grew until one day, he acted on his jealously. It was so easy pass it off as a tragic accident. Gunter had committed the perfect crime and possibly got everything his brother had.
Though the question remains is whether or not Gunter regrets his act of jealousy…

honestly I was pretty ok until I noticed the reflection on the surface of the wave

@Squidward
And his ex wife left him for another man... How could Wes know his 'friend' would screw him in more ways than one ?

Loving the darker lore. I mean, a place with nightmare pets can't be all sunshine and roses.

...dang, it was RIGHT THERE in Gunter's subetapedia entry the whole time. I mean it was so vague there was no way to know it was friggun m u r d e r but

Oh goddamit that reward drop. Y'all teasing me and my weak battle pets, I need that for my Kylo pet's TC. Squints. I'm on to you and your sadism. (Teasing but really, cool drops!)

Dude drown and you call him Bubbles.
Brutal, subeta. ;P
So, does the name that an Unliving takes/has have to do with how they die?
Or, maybe only (relatively) newly dead do that? And, then they take a 'real' name after having been dead for so long and are comfortable with being Unliving? (I think that there was something about us/the-player-character being a newly-dead and the other guys picking up on that during the Ecks VS Skitters plot...)
eh. Things to think about, I guess.

None of you youngsters remember, there wasn't a cure for zombieness for the first year of the Great Pandemic. We didn't know if ANYONE would live.
Gunter did what he had to do not only to survive, but to save Bubbles' family
As for Bubbles's name, I always supposed that there was a suppurating wound on his back that only the locals knew about.

Please tell me this has eaten away at Gunter for years and years and that's the reason he drinks?
Also please let me tell Anne. I'll even help her drag Gunter's body away. Come on, no jury would convict her. Just look at that hat

@jmarie453 yup, it can be beaten by T8, I struggled once with my T10 because I was unlucky and got frozen 5 times in a row, but it seems to be a chance of freezing weapon. Be sure to defend (I used Shinwas shard) because its weapons hurt a lot lol
@Zai
You rock! Seems suitable for tier 8-ish or is there a weird gimmick that makes it a 'rough wave to ride'? lol

i still can't believe i thought maybe it was an accidental drowning (since the brewery is so close to the lake) smdh gunter i trusted you

well, wow. does that mean Gunter has to go into hiding now, or what? y'know, now that we all know what he did. to his own brother.
i hope we get to hear his side of the story! the plot thickens

SolsticespriteI remember the biting well, someone with a different virus from mine bit me when I was in the third stage of the one I wanted and switched my hearts to footrash. I don't have a selective memory, I was only talking about one small piece of that event along with the Subetapedia entry. It's all good either way, filling in the pieces and comparing notes is part of the fun :)
