It was another sunny day in Peka Glade. The air was fresh and there was that ever-present relaxed, peaceful vibe. Many different species of animal lived in the Glade and all got along without much effort at all. The tribe of Jollin in the area were one of the more active species, forever frolicking around the Glade. Jacinta, a Glade Jollin, was happy frolicking with her Jollin friends but also liked lying and daydreaming in the shade of willow trees. Some think this is why her foliage had changed so much; it had taken on the appearance of her favourite thing in the Glade, the Weeping Willow trees. Changing appearance is not uncommon to those who inhabit the glade, they have living flora and fauna all them but no one has else has undergone a change quite as extreme as Jacintas.

It was under a weeping willow tree where Jacinta first heard the plight of a Jollin by the name of Isobelle. Isobelle was being kept captive by an eccentric couple. 'Being kept ... in a house?', Jacinta asked a little perplexed. 'That can't be right; it's against all the laws.' Despite her laid back nature, Jacinta was fiercely stubborn, loyal and very much believed in right and wrong. In Jacinta's mind, keeping a jollin locked up in a house was about as wrong as you could get. Jactina put the horrible thought of being kept hostage by humans out of her mind and went back to daydreaming.

A few days later the elders of the tribe decided if no one else was going to do anything about this poor Jollin then it was up to them. Over the next few weeks they planned and strategized while Jacinta lazed about in the sun. The day had finally come to start the rescue mission and they set off. Jacinta was left behind along with several of the younger members of the tribe, it was far too risky for everyone involved to have inexperienced jollin take part in the rescue. The rest of the tribe successfully freed the captive Isobelle and brought her back to Peka Glade where they invited her to join their tribe.

Despite being welcomed into the tribe, most of the Jollin were a little apprehensive about Isobelle for various reasons. Some worried that if the humans who had kept her as a pet came looking for her and found her, they might not look too favourably on the other Jollin of the Glade who had aided in her escape. Others worried they might capture them too, to be kept as a pet. Then there were others who just didn't understand Isobelle's glacier exterior, knowing little about the horrors of being kept hostage which had caused her colouring to change.

Jacinta had unique reactions from the rest of her tribe; she was always just a little bit different as her unique tail illustrated. Upon seeing Isobelle for the first time, Jacinta was mesmerised. Her bluish white exterior was unlike anything she had seen before and it had a calming effect on the already almost lethargic Jacinta.

At once Jacinta took Isobelle under her wing and showed her how things worked in Peka Glade. Jacinta's original feelings towards Isobelle paled in comparison after getting to know her, the two were instant friends. But something just wasn't quite right with Isobelle and Jacinta knew it. Isobelle still seemed upset at times and Jacinta didn't understand why. Finally, Isobelle told the tribe about her duck friend Leonard who remained at the house from where Isobelle was rescued. After some discussion with the tribe, Isobelle decided to go and rescue Leonard, but Jacinta couldn't let her go alone.

So off they set, back to the prison Isobelle had once called a "home" in an attempt to rescue Leonard!

Isobelle and Jacinta are always up for an adventure and went on one incredible one over Luminare 2010.
The following details their adventure!

● Week One

Jacinta was bounding towards Isobelle with a look that Isobelle knew all too well. It was the look Jacinta got whenever she had a particularly clever idea. Isobelle almost wanted to start backing away, but Jacinta reached her with a puff of exuberant breath.

'Izzy, Izzy, guess what?!' exclaimed Jacinta, upon reaching her best friend.
'Er, what, Jacinta?' asked Isobelle nervously.
Jacinta shook her head at Isobelle, ears going haywire. 'No, Izzy,' she said crossly. 'I want you to guess.'
Isobelle pretended to ponder. 'You finally stopped egging on Marlow to jump off that tall tree you two found?'
'No,' said Jacinta, 'Wrong! Oh gosh Izzy, I know you, you'll never guess. But you'll love it, I know you will. I signed us up to be Melody's Little Helpers!' Jacinta stared at Isobelle as though waiting for a reaction, although all she got in return was polite puzzlement.
'Come again?' said Isobelle.

'You know, Melody! She gives out gifts in Luminaire. Everyone knows who Melody is. I thought you might like the idea of going out and giving gifts out, to celebrate the season and all. So I asked Melody if we could help her and give out some gifts and she said yes! What do you think?'
Isobelle's face, which had looked quite apprehensive at first ('Oh no, oh God she's probably asked some strange woman if we'll 'help' her and we'll have to clean a house or something, I don't even know how to clean houses') now broke into a smile. 'Oh, Jacinta, that sounds like a lot of fun! Aw, what a lovely idea.'
Jacinta snorted. 'All my ideas are lovely, you just don't appreciate them sometimes.'
Isobelle pretended not to hear this remark.

'So, when do we start?'

● Week Two

Jacinta nudged a small heap of red and white towards Isobelle with her nose. 'Here, put this on Izzy,' Jacinta chimed. After struggling to get her front paws into the arms, Isobelle turned and glared at Jacinta. Before she could get a word in to complain about this ridiculous outfit, Jacinta piped up, 'IZZY! You forgot the hat!' Isobelle knew once Jacinta had an idea in her head there really wasn't much point in trying to reason with her. Before she had finished putting the hat on, Jacinta wrapped a bit of tinsel around her ear. 'Very festive!' Jacinta said in delight, nodding.

'Is this really necessary?' asked Isobelle, warily eyeing the outfits that she and her best friend, Jacinta, were now dressed in.
‘Of course it's necessary!' replied Jacinta, her tone of voice implying that this was a question that should not even be asked, gosh Isobelle, the nerve. With a flourish, she looked back down at the list in front of them.
'Well,' she continued brightly, 'This is a list of our giftees! How about we split them in half? And you can gift one half and I'll gift the other?'
'W-wait!' interjected Isobelle, 'So ... but ... we're not doing this together?'
'Of course we're doing this together', replied Jacinta soothingly, 'But it'd just be quicker if we dropped off the gifts separately! You know, so they'll arrive on time. You don't want any gifts to be late do you?'
'O-of course not,' replied Isobelle, 'But-'
Jacinta wasn't listening. She tore the list clean in half and offered it to Isobelle. 'Here's your half, Izzy! I say a week and we'll get it all done. Then I'll meet you back at Marlow's place, OK? I'm going to use him to pull my sleigh!'

Jacinta ran off, full of excitement. She came to a sudden stop a few hundred metres up the path. I better make sure Izzy knows what to do, I don't want to leave her hanging, she thought, suddenly worried about her best friend. As she sat down she watched Isobelle stare at her half of the list. After about a minute, just as Jacinta was to head back to make sure she would be okay, she saw Isobelle jump up and start bounding away in the other direction.

Relieved, she too headed off. A quick stop at the Holiday Shop, she thought, for the stockings and some wrapping paper! Having stocked up, Jacinta sat in the middle of a giant pile of wrapping paper, bows and giant ribbons. I don't think Jollins are supposed to use cellotape, she giggled to herself, covered in torn bits of tape. After more hours than she'd care to admit, Jacinta had wrapped up all the empty stockings for her half of the list. PERFECT she thought, feeling very proud of herself. Now to start delivering them!

Have you received one yet?

● Week Three

Jacinta looked down at her list feeling awfully proud of herself having delivered a stocking to the last person on her list. Jacinta snuck up to the window and saw a confused Urian looking at the stocking he had pulled out of an emerald striped box. Jacinta chuckled to herself, They're all going to be SO confused when the presents turn up!

Urian

As Jacinta trotted off away from Urian's home she suddenly realised what was coming next. 'IT'S TIME TO SEE MARLOW AND IZZY AGAIN,' Jactina shrieked, waking a little Kitmonkey which was hanging from a tree above her. She sped off with an extra bounce in her step focused on making it to Marlow's neck of the woods in record time.

'Marlow! Marlow!' Jacinta exclaimed as soon as she saw an outline of a Jollin resembling Marlow climbing a tree a few hundred metres ahead. She could make out a long scarf flapping in the breeze and, as Isobelle would say, Marlow is the only Jollin around who would be daft enough to climb a tree ... except maybe for Jacinta. Sure enough, it was Marlow in the tree with little Chester looking on.

Jacinta filled Marlow in on what Isobelle and herself were up to with their time as Melody's Little Helpers while they waited for Isobelle to arrive and in turn Marlow told Jacinta about his latest escapades trying to achieve the seemingly unattainable flight. (Jacinta was especially impressed with one attempt - Marlow had acquired a same catapault and had used that to propel himself into the air. It hadn't worked but thankfully with it being Autumn he had landed safely in an enormous pile of leaves. 'Are you sure you flapped your ears enough on the way down?' Jacinta had asked, trying to encourage him.) At that point Isobelle came around the corner and caught the eye of Jacinta.

'IZZY! OH IZZY, YOU'VE FINISHED TOO!? How was it, oh you just have to tell me everything!' Jacinta squealed delighted with the sight of her best friend. 'Oh I've missed you so much Izzy!'
'I've missed you too, Jacinta!' Isobelle replied a little flustered having been tackled to the ground by a slighly hysterical friend. Looking up at Marlow, Isobelle said, 'Have you filled him in on your plans, Jacinta?'

Looking a little sheepish, Jacinta got up and replied, 'I was just getting to that ... but first we have to get ready for next week, when all the real work begins!'

What have these Jollin got instore for the coming week?

● Week Four - Part 1

After hearing Isobelle's tone of voice, Jacinta was worried for a split second that having Marlow pull the sleigh she commandeered was a bad idea. Since when did Isobelle's voice of reason stop her? Never, Jacinta giggled to herself.

'Marlow, come with me for a second,' she said as she gave Isobelle a wink and that this is the best idea ever look that was far too familiar for Isobelle's liking. Both Jollins trotted off a little deeper into the woods until they reached a magnificent red, gold and white sleigh.
'Isn't it glorious,' Jacinta squealed. 'It's for Izzy and I to deliver the presents! I though you could pull us in it, what do you say, Marlow?!'
Marlow started to talk, a little hesitant at first, 'I... I THINK THAT'S A GREAT IDEA JACINTA. Hey, do you think I might be able to get it to fly!?'
Jacinta trotted around to the front of the sleigh, holding up the harness for Marlow to get into. 'That's what I thought! Just like the reindeer, your bound to take flight!'

Once Marlow was safety attached, Jacinta jumped in, grabbing the reigns and flapping them once to get Marlow to start moving. They headed back towards Isobelle before embarking on their journey to start delivering the presents.

They had travelled a long distance (well, Marlow said it was long, and he said if you had been pulling the sleigh, then it would've felt doubly long) when Marlow said he was tired. Jacinta looked just a little worried; how would they deliver all their gifts in time? But Isobelle had a solution.
'Look, you two, it'd be a lot easier without me on board! How about I just ... deliver the rest of the presents that I've got on my list ...'
'And then we'll come pick you up afterwards!' said Jacinta. 'Brilliant idea, Izzy. Let me see your list ...'
After discussing where Isobelle would be once she had finished delivering her last gift, heartfelt goodbyes were said and Isobelle trotted off.

Jacinta looked down at the list, once again halved in size but still feeling a little worried, 'Better put those goggles on, Marlow, we better see what this sleigh can do!'
Marlow picked up the pace, it was a bit easier without the weight of Isobelle and her half of the presents. He felt a bit nervous when he heard Jacinta cackling. He hoped she was just giddy with excitement about the sleigh and not some other surprise. She might have a whip hidden in there, he shuddered. Knowing Jacinta, anything could be possible.

Some Very Notable Gift Giving Adventures
ClementineKarenTrapezeRue

Clementine

'Whooooa,' Jacinta yelled to Marlow as she saw the House up ahead. 'Just wait here Marlow, I won't be a second,' Jacinta bellowed as she jumped out the sleigh with an Emerald Striped Giftbox. It had a Delicate Daisy Crown carefully packaged inside and was tied with a gold bow. This present was extra special, it was made from Isobelle's very own daisy chains.

Jacinta didn't bother going up to the front door, she knew where to find the owner of this present - around the back of the house playing outside. Jacinta peered over the fence and sure enough, she saw Clementine sat at a small table enjoying what Jacinta thought was a tea party. Jacinta climbed over the fence and was nearly bowled over by a young Devonti charging at a castle. Jacinta giggled and wanted to join in, it looked like such fun! She shook her head, No, gotta be quick so I can meet back up with Izzy!

'Clementine?' Jacinta mumbled asking a young Kora with a pretty pink bow in her curly blonde locks. Clementine looked up at her and a wide grin came across her face when she saw the gift hanging by the ribbon from Jacinta's mouth.
'Is that for me!' she shrieked, 'Oh please say that's for me and not for Oliver or Arthur!'
'It is; especially for you!' Jacinta said with glee, ecstatic with this response. 'Merry Luminaire!' she said as she turned and trotted off back towards the fence.

'Oh please sit and have tea with me,' Clementine asked. 'The boys are being mean again. They won't let me play,' she said with a huff.
Jacinta bit her tongue, turning her head back around to face Clementine, she wanted nothing more to play in this garden, between the castle and the tea party, she could be occupied for hours. She shook her head and yelled, 'Sorry, there's no stopping for Melody's Little Helpers!' She whipped her head back around and scaled the fence in one leap.

Karen

When Jacinta saw that Karen was next on her list she was delighted. 'You're going to love where we're going next Marlow!'

The two Jollin, along with the sleigh Marlow was pulling (he had made Jacinta get out and walk about half way there. Jollin are no Legeica, he had said, they weren't built for pulling anything let alone another Jollin and a sleigh all this way) arrived at Karen's.

'Oh Marlow, you just have to come in. If Karen's in, she might give us some pastries! She has the BEST pastries ever. They are so delicious and ...' Jacinta started remembering the Decadent Chocherawb Cupcake Karen had insisted she eat (not that she needed much persuading!) after dropping off the stocking. Pastry isn't a part of a Jollin's traditional diet but after taking a bite of the cupcake Jacinta was pleased to have made an exception. It was the smell of the pastries coming from Karen's that had lured Jacinta into knocking on the door that visit instead of just dropping the giftbox off and running like she was supposed to.
'Jacinta? JACINTA!' Marlow shouted right into her large ear snapping her back to reality. 'Come on then, let's see!'

The two Jollin weren't disappointed. Karen was home and she once again insisted they eat Chocolate Eclair and enjoy a hot cup of Snowflake Latte to warm themselves up before getting back outside to the frosty Luminaire air. Marlow was a little hesitant at first, surprising for someone who would willingly fling themselves off any tall object, but after watching Jacinta face dive into the eclair he followed suit.

Faces a mess with chocolate and cream everywhere (some even managed to find its way into Marlow's tail!), the two Jollin wished Karen a happy Luminaire and hoped they would have to stop by her house again one day soon.

Trapeze

Marlow brings the sleigh to a halt outside a large tree. Hanging from the tree was a wire with a small pole attached. An elderly Popoko, judging by the deep pigeon-grey fur mixed in with the dawn and her half hunched over stature, shuffled into sight from around the side of the tree. Marlow was mesmerised by the beautiful wings, I could use some of those, he thought to himself.

Jacinta jumped out of the sleigh onto the soft pillowy snow with a present in tow. She went over to Trapeze with her Luminaire gift. She dropped the gift at Trapeze's feet, 'Happy Luminaire,' she yelled, unsure of the elderly Popoko's hearing.
'I can hear you just fine, dear,' Trapeze replied starting to lean over to pick up the gift.
'I can get that,' Jacinta said a little sheepish, picking the giftbox back up by the ribbon. She lifted her head up, and in turn the giftbox, and waited for Trapeze to take it off her.

Trapeze opened her gift and smiled. 'Just like my childhood,' she said to herself. This sparked both Jacinta and Marlow's curiosity.
'Your ... childhood?' Marlow asked.
'Yes, dear,' Trapeze replied, 'I used to perform in a circus, in a Big Top just like this.'
'What was your act?' Jacinta inquired, sitting down in front of Trapeze. Marlow came and sat next to her.
'Trapeze. I used to fly through the air, twisting and turning and swinging. I was the best.'
Marlow's eared perked up, 'Fly ... through the air?!'

Jacinta jumped to her feet, 'Marlow wants to fly. Gosh he has tried just about everything but with no luck so far! Maybe you could teach Marlow how you did it. Oh Marlow, wouldn't that be great!'
'Oh could you?' Marlow asked.

'I'm sorry, dear, it's the wings that allowed me to do it ...' Trapeze replied, the sincerity apparent in her voice.
Both Jollins dropped there heads, 'It was worth a shot,' Jacinta said to Marlow, trying to cheer him up a bit.
'I hope I haven't discouraged you too much,' Trapeze said. 'Don't give up Marlow, do keep trying; stranger things have happened.'

Rue

Marlow and Jacinta had been wandering the forest for about an hour trying to find the recipient of the next gift. Well, Jacinta was wandering, Marlow was trudging along lugging the sleigh wondering why he agreed to pull this thing. It had much more appeal when he thought he might be able to fly it, but after delivering gifts to most of Jacinta's half of the list he hadn't lifted the thing an inch off the ground. ... Except when he hit that tree branch while he was pulling Jacinta at full speed. Jacinta was thankfully hanging on to the front of the sleigh otherwise she would have flown out (and Marlow would be a bit jealous of that!).

Marlow was ready to give up (and had told Jacinta numerous times) but Jacinta insisted they'd find the giftee soon. She also gave him that why are you even asking me this look.
'This Jollin must be the worst Jollin to play hide and seek with,' Jacinta remarked. Just then, Marlow spotted what he thought was a lain.
'Jacinta, look!' It was far too big to be a lain though, and the two of them crept closer to get a better look.
'I think ... it's a Jollin ...?' Marlow whispered to Jacinta.
'Wait ... I think that's Rue!' Jacinta whispered in reply.

'Let's not scare her,' Jacinta said so instead she placed the present on the ground and signaled to Marlow to pick some fruit from the trees and bushes nearby. They both surrounded the giftbox with fruit (and Jacinta quickly slipped a bit inside so the little gift wouldn't go hungry, although she was sure Rue would sniff out the pile of of fruit in no time) and hurried to hide behind the bushiest shrub they could find.

In no time at all Rue had found the gift thanks to the fruit. She looked at the name tag attached to the gift. It says my name, she thought. She looked around the trying to see who had left this for her but saw nothing out of the ordinary. She ripped open the gift, and found a little Pyllar nibbling away at an apple. She chuckled and started eating an apple of her own.

Marlow and Jacinta grinned at each other, there job here was done.

'One more on my list, Marlow! We're nearly done, and with time to spare! We're going to pass Izzy on the way,' Jacinta said to Marlow. 'Do you think we should pick her up, she can help us deliver this last one? The two Jollin had been on the road for nearly a week and both were missing Isobelle.
'Good idea, Jacinta! Why don't you jump back in the sleigh, I'm having a bit of a sugar rush from all that fruit! Let's go get Izz, and in time for Luminaire!'

● Week Four - Part 2

Marlow was full of beans or full of something. Jacinta didn't know what had gotten into him but he was pulling that sleigh, with her in it, like nobody's business. She was over the moon (and Marlow wished they really were!). Perhaps it was because the end was in sight and Jacinta might finally allow him to take that harness off the sleigh once and for all!

They skidded around a corner and found Isobelle sat up ahead. They hoped she hadn't been waiting too long. Jacinta resisted the urge to jump out and run on foot to meet her.

The Jollin set out on a journey to the home of the last person on Jacinta's list. Isobelle and Jacinta ran on foot along side of Marlow while he pulled an empty (bar one remaining present) sleigh.

Isobelle & Jacinta's Last Gift Giving Adventure
Razai

Razai
'Gosh Jacinta, needed my help to finish, huh?!' Isobelle teased. 'Just couldn't quite do it all by yourself?' Jacinta started to put up a fight but before she could Marlow and Isobelle looked at each other and started laughing. Just at that moment two small Snowbunnies hopped past and all three realised they had made it to Razai's home.

'Who is that?' a moody low pitched voice asked, getting louder as he approached the three Jollin.
'We- we're here to deliver a little gift for Luminaire,' Jacinta said suddenly a little frightened of what they had walked into. 'I- I'm Jacinta and this is Isobelle and Marlow,' she continued, signaling towards her friends.

The word 'gift' seemed to soften Razai's reaction to these visitors. 'You were the ones that brought me the Stocking?' he asked.'Yeah,' the trio piped up.
'Well, come on over here then,' Razai replied asking them to come closer.

The Jollin exchanged soulful looks and headed towards Razai with trepidation. What they found was a terrying demon - a large paralix - who, despite them carrying a gift for him, really didn't seem to what them there at all. As the trio got closer, they started to feel a little confused. Surrounding Razai, this moody demon, were butterflies, birds, bunnies and the two small Snowbunnies they had passed earlier.

Jacinta went right up to Razai (and noticed once there that Isobelle and Marlow had stopped 5 metres back!) and dropped the gift at his paws. 'I hope you like it!'

Dustbunny!

Razai not eating Jacinta seemed to put Isobelle and Marlow at ease. The two of them came closer and started playing with the animals hanging around Razai (if the bunnies, birds, squirrels and butterflies could follow Razai around he couldn't be that big of a risk to their health, surely).
'What are you anyway?' Jacinta asked. She never really thought anything through before blurting it out; if it was on her mind, it came out of her mouth.

'My father was a powerful demon. I got my looks from him.'
'How do you explain the bunnies?' Jacinta asked, once again confused.
Laughing, like it was a question he was often asked (if only he had a lot of visitors to ask him), Razai said, 'My mother was a fairy, the powers I have come from her.'
Jacinta sensed this was one of those moments where laughter wasn't the best response. Or perhaps it was Isobelle's paw poking into her side stopping her (Isobelle was well practised at saving Jacinta from herself).

While Marlow and Jacinta were playing with Razai's following, Isobelle went up to him to ask him a few questions about his 'powers'.
'How ... does your fairy powers work, Razai?' she asked.
'The usual,' he responded. 'Fairy dust.'
'And it can do almost anything? Like make ... objects fly?'
'Yeah, I suppose it can,' he responded.

Too engrossed playing, Marlow and Jacinta didn't see Razai go over to the sleigh with Isobelle. After a couple of minutes Isobelle called out to Marlow and Jacinta that it was time to go home.
'Do you think you could pull us in the sleigh for a bit, Marlow?' Isobelle asked, trying to hide the smile on her face.
'Sure Izz, but only for a bit. Even without the extra weight of the presents, you two are still heavy!' he said teasing.
The Jollin said goodbye to Razai and wished him a Merry Luminaire. Razai and Isobelle winked at each other, excited at what was to come next.

Ending their journey the way they started, all three Jollin together, Jacinta shouted directions to Marlow. 'GO MARLOW! EAST! MUSH! ...'
Marlow took off running and after a few metres his legs seemed to be moving faster than possible. He gasped as all his paws left the ground at the same time.
'MARLOW ... ARE YOU ... ? YOU'RE DOING IT. YOU'RE FLYING.' Jacinta yelled amazed. The next thing they knew the sleigh was hovering about a metre off the ground. Before they knew it Marlow, and the sleigh he was pulling, was climbing higher into the sky. Isobelle looked over the side of the sleigh and waved thank you to Razai. She could barely believe he had done this for them.

If anyone actually believed they saw this majestic sleigh flying through the air, they would not believe it was a Jollin pulling a sleigh with two other Jollin inside. Likewise, the trio could barely believe it themselves. Marlow, feeling exceptionally pleased with himself, couldn't believe he had finally sorted this flying business out. Neither could Jacinta, even though she had always thought he would do it one day.

Isobelle decided it was best not to spoil this Luminaire miracle. She decided against telling Marlow and Jacinta about Razai's fairy dust and instead let them believe in the magic of Luminaire.
