The Strangest of Allies...

Talsgar watched the young Dragarth quietly from his vantage point above the banks of the White River. A brilliant gold light appeared to be forming in front of her. The sphere of radiance was shifting, changing in front of his eyes as he observed her, and appeared to take the form of a golden orb of fire. Talsgar drew his longsword and called out Joor Zah Frul, the shout that would momentarily stun the young Dragarth and keep her grounded long enough for him to run down and, hopefully, capture her. As he drew closer to her he could see that she was offering up no resistance at all. In fact he was surprised to hear her speak to him in his own native tongue and not that of the dragons. "I am Kaira, a fire dragon of the Jerald Mountains. Why did you use your shout to paralyze me when I was of no threat to you?"

He walked up to her and introduced himself. "I am Talsgar, warrior of the Goldenmane clan and also Dragonborn. If you're not here to cause harm to the villagers then what brings you so far from home?" Kaira looked down at the warrior before her, tears welling up in her eyes, and said, "I know what Alduin and those like him have done. There are many of us who are not like them and only wish to live in peace among you. In fact, we would rather work against him with you than see our kind totally wiped out of existence. I was driven from my home in the mountains by soldiers seeking out others of Alduin's kin, which is the only reason I'm here now."

Talsgar considered what he had just been told and made the young Dragarth a proposal. "You could very well be an asset to us in the battle against Alduin and the others. It has been a long time since I've seen anyone so young practicing the art of harnessing the powers of the elements, least of all one of your kind." Kaira thought briefly on this and replied, "I would happily put what I know to good use to aid your cause, but you will have to travel far to defeat Alduin himself. Even then, you will have to travel to Skuldafn Temple and find your way to the portal that will then lead you on to Sovngarde. Only once you battle him again there will he truly be vanquished once and for all. However, the only way to reach the Temple is by air, and for that you will also need my help."

Talsgar sheathed his longsword and looked up at his new ally. He knew that he'd have some explaining to do to the Jarl of Whiterun, but he felt confident that he could win him over. He'd just have to keep Kaira safely away from Whiterun for the time being until he'd been able to discuss his plans with the Jarl. "Today marks the beginning of a new era, one where mankind and dragon will eventually live side by side in peace and harmony. Come, my young friend, I need to speak to the Jarl immediately, but I'll have to insist that you stay outside the village, not just for your own safety but also so that you won't scare the villagers!"
