Plagued by terrible nightmares--sometimes so vivid that he mistakes them for reality--since he was young Kennison became very withdrawn. As a child he kept to himself and went out of his way to socialize as little as possible with the other children. Little is known about where he was born or who his parents were, but it is likely they were not born in this country. He was found abandoned at a church late in the evening. Though he was believed to be about five years old, his mind seemed underdeveloped, and could only speak in an unintelligible 'baby' speak. He wore rags and a small bracelet around his arm that read 'Kennison'.

From the ages of five to fifteen he spent his life in a home for orphaned and troubled boys. He learned English remarkably fast, He did not cause any trouble for the most part, but he had a habit of running away at night, completely unprovoked. He would disappear some time after midnight and later that morning, as if out of thin air, be back in his bedroom. He claimed to have no idea as to where he had gone or what he had done during these times. Even when he shared a room he managed to escape, his roommate claimed that he hadn't even heard the boy get up.

There was one instance where he went missing for almost three days. He was found on a Saturday morning lying naked underneath a cluster of bushes outside of the foster home. Again, he claimed to have no memories of what had happened. There was nothing physically wrong with the boy but he was admitted to a hospital anyway for evaluation. Blood was found on him, but it was not his own. He had never been missing for so long before.

Currently he is sixteen years old and resides in a foster home with a couple in their late 30's who often take in older teens. He is very well behaved and gets good marks in school. So far the couple has not reported him missing, yet. Or at least they haven't noticed him gone, none of his previous foster homes could keep ever track of him after dark, like he could just slip away into the shadows. He is still experiencing night terrors but less often. When he does experience a nightmare it will shake his very soul and send him into a stupor for days, silent and unresponsive to human contact, angry. Because of his violent outbursts he attends therapy on a sometimes weekly basis, and his foster parents are worried he is depressed or that he has been repressing memories of his childhood. He often refuses to tell his therapist about the dreams, claiming he does not remember them. The dreams he does confess are disturbing. He dreams of a feline-like creature roaming the streets looking for prey. It's fur is black and he describes it as being roughly the size of a panther, but far more grotesque looking. Kennison spends countless hours sketching the creature and hoping that one day he can get a picture of it as if it really exists.

Kennison is a sophomore in high school, his favorite subjects are art and English. Despite his gloomy disposition he manages to have made a friend in his English period, a boy named Shouya. Kennison may have an morbid attachment to the other boy. Most of their free time is spent together but when questioned about their relationship he becomes extremely defensive.
