It was dark. A woman slunk through the shadows, low to the ground, unseen. Her footsteps were light on the ground, and her tools could dismantle the most difficult of locks. Easily, she was the best thief the world had seen.

The bounty on her head was inordinate to match her skill. With each heist, it only grew, to the point where she set her eyes on it. She stole through the castle, hiding from prying eyes. The treasury was guarded by locks and defenses that boggled the mind, but she cut through them with a fury.

She started just after sunset. The clock had yet to strike midnight by the time she dodged the final guard, opened the final door. She stepped forwards into the dark room- but it was empty, its contents long since stowed elsewhere. The door shut behind her, and the mechanisms clicked back into place.

Turning on her heel, the woman hurried back to the door, feeling her way for the keyhole in the pitch black. Try as she might, the door wouldn't budge, and her voice couldn't pierce the thick stone. It was just smooth, smooth, smooth stone, unblemished by something as unsightly as a keyhole.
