Yan, as his little sister Lanying calls him, was almost named Longwei, which means dragon greatness, but he chose Yan Ming instead. He named his Red Rreignling Longwei instead, believing it fits him better than it does himself. His younger sister Lan, as he calls her, adores him, but Yan is completely oblivious to it. Longwei and he are close. Yan Ming relates to him because they both look like Chinese dragons, although Yan is a bit more catlike. Yusheng and he are always at odds over which breed is more dragonlike, the Paralixes or the Mahars. Obviously, Yan Ming is on the side of the Paralixes and Yusheng is on that of the Mahars.
