Oh, hello and welcome to my little space here on Subeta. Please be careful where you step, I've got quite a few toys laying around and I wouldn't want you to break any! My name is Wahya (pronounced 'why-yah') which means "wolf" in Cherokee. I often get asked if I'm part wolf or coyote because of my "wild" colors and markings. Let me assure you the only thing wolf about me is my name. My pet human says I'm half Siberian husky and half rough collie or a "Balto Lassie" if you will. My scientific name is "canis familiaris derpus". I'm a pro when it comes to "derping" (which just means "being a happy, goofy dawg" according to my human)! I have two different colored eyes but there's nothing wrong with my blue eye, I can see just fine! Actually did you know there's a legend that says dogs with two different color eyes can see both heaven (blue) and earth (brown)? I think that's pretty cool. I'm magical! I was rescued and adopted into my family when I was just a puppy. I wasn't much bigger than my smallest brother Foxy when I first joined the pack. Foxy, along with Cricket and Nemo, raised me. They're all smaller dogs but they'll always be my "little big brothers"! I'm a lot bigger now but I'm still just an overgrown lapdog at heart. Seriously. I still love to sit on my people's lap...my butt usually ends up hanging off the edge and I look pretty awkward but that won't stop me from trying.

My favorite thing in the world, other than just being with my pack (and SNOW!), is to go hiking! I'm a excellent long distance hiker and have traveled thousands of miles with my person. Last summer I helped them complete 30 miles in a single day, a new record! We did split that one up, my person did the full 30 but "switched" dogs throughout the day so no one did too much at once. I covered the most distance though! My family is very fortunate to live so close to an amazing trail that spans over 7 miles from start to finish. There are lots of hills to climb, scents to explore, a beautiful lake to visit and always plenty of wild animals around. Those darn squirrels!! Sitting up there flicking your tail at me.... Just you wait, one of these days I'm gonna catch you!! The only thing I don't like when we hike is when we encounter untrained loose dogs that run up and invade my personal space. I have anxiety issues about strange dogs getting up close and personal with me (I've been nearly attacked before)! There is a "leash law" on the trails we hike but soo many humans don't follow the rules which has led to some uncomfortable and borderline dangerous situations. Please be respectful, humans! You know us dogs can enjoy a hike just fine on a leash...plus the squirrels are safer that way too, haha. That aside, being out in nature with my person is the best thing in the world! In fact I think I might go take a hike right now. Woof!
