Raideo's Kingdom

I saw him disappear into her bedroom again; no one else ever noticed, but I always did. Then again, no one ever noticed me anyway. I slammed my book shut with a slight slap; I doubt I could ever seriously make a loud noise. Picking up the few worn paperback books I had with me, I peered out the door of my library again. Yes, her mahogany door was closed once more. Everyone else was out and I assumed that she thought I was as well or.. that I wouldn't tell anyone a word. I don't think I ever crossed her mind while she was with him. I mean I don't really care for her- it's not like I like her- my love is Monroe. However, she is my friend and I do worry for her. The stress of him constantly leaving her must be incredibly painful. I've only watched her become nearly wasted out of her pain a few hundred times... The only thing that infuriated me was the fact that it was his fault and he didn't even know. He was blissfully unaware of the fact that she was so painfully attached to a man who was constantly leaving and one who didn't need as much attention. Such a strong man who was unintentionally uncaring in his actions even though he meant to be the most loving. He was unaware of his misdeed and her need. She was just a young soul who still needed so much careful attention to blossom, yet she was with this older and shifty companion. I sighed and retreated back into my library; my home; my cave; my life. My eyes touched every visible inch of books that was in my view and I quivered at its expanse. I smiled faintly and walked to the maroon leather chair. It was worn in some places but also wide and extremely comfortable. I dropped into Su Beta form and curled up, leaving my bushy tail hanging over the side of the arm of the chair. Placing my paws carefully onto the slightly yellow crispy pages, I drifted into the fantasy of the story that the book held. I slipped into my own fantastic adventure, in fact, I slipped right into the pages.

I was no longer in my Su Beta form, the Jollin, instead I was back in my human form and I held a sword in my right hand. It and my eyes glistened in the pale sunlight, both alight with ferocity and smug power. This was my land, the land of tales and dreams. I ruled over it in many forms for, I was a shapeshifter. No one in my family knew, but not only shift, I could paint the future and manipulate it just as well. Secretly I was just as powerful as him but I was hidden and out of sight. I couldn't be touched and no one would want to touch me anyway. I flexed the tan arm at my side and grinned. Hmm.. Today I would visit Leigh, she's one of my best friends though we've never met other than in dream. And I don't think she knows I'm real but no matter, she was definitely pleasant to listen and talk to. Mostly listen. She was the only one in the dream world that knew that I was actually quite reserved. This was because here I am able to recreate myself as someone bold and gallant.

I glanced down at the sword I had as my blonde medium length hair fringes fell into my eyes. I think I would ask Leigh for a trim, just… for fun. Flipping my head slightly to move the hair out of my face, I continued down the cobblestone road that led into town. I took in the familiar town and the unfamiliar faces, they changed every night as other creatures in the world dreamt different dreams. However, Leigh, she was always in the same rustic house on the same road, Fire St. We haven't yet found out why every night she ends up in the same place in my town though. I created this town with my powers as a haven for dreamers and a haven for myself to play god over. Though, it was more or less for entertainment as I played the invisible government hand and played very little in the nightly lives of the dreamers.

I lightly tapped onto the faded wooden door and waited.

There it was, the tap I've been waiting for. I haven't heard the familiar rappity-rap-rap in a week, he hasn't visited me for ages it seemed. It's crazy, but I love this man from my dreams, I'm not even sure if I believe he's real but he's absolutely the most perfect thing in the entire universe! My heartbeat quickened as I walked towards the door, and I opened it to a him in a new form. Tan and blonde today I see; he's a shapeshifter and usually shows up in many different guises, whatever he felt like that night. No one else knows him as I do, there are only a few regulars to Tend, the town I lived in, in my dreams but I'm the only one who he really knows. I haven't told Raideo about them, but I tell them about him. We're not even sure why he's so morphic or able to slip into this town so easily by choice, seeing as we don't have a choice. Nonetheless, I jumped at him and embraced him. "Raideo!" I exclaimed with a broad grin which was returned with a gleaming handsome one. I felt his arms around me and then he patted the short jet black hair on my head affectionately. I know he doesn't feel for me the way I feel for him, but.. I just can't help it.

"Leigh, how are you today sweetheart?" I purred at her.

"Brilliant! Fierce! Feisty!" I replied excitedly. "Come 'ere Raidy, I ought to tell you about my day," I said and stood by the cushioned couch in the living room. I watched him gracefully move his body, placing the sword carefully on the table near the door, fashioned just for his sword, and then pad over to me. He hardly ever made any bit of sound when he moved, it was so fascinating. He then decided to lounge on the couch, one leg hanging off the edge and another propped up. He glanced at me with his brilliant cobalt eyes and beckoned for me. I immediately jumped onto him as he hugged me in his arms. "You wouldn't believe what mum said to me today, that I have to marry Prince Telenine," I began, "He's not attractive in the slightest," I growled.

"Oh Leigh, what if it's the best for a princess like you?" I murmured back to her then chuckled at her reaction. She didn't want to hear it. She hated being a princess because everyone always thought she was stuck up and not to mention the mass amount of responsibilities placed on her shoulders. So I only teased but inside I felt slightly guilty.

"Who cares! I don't want to marry yet, I can't possibly imagine giving my kingdom to some, some, some idiot manly man!"

"Leigh, come on, just say no then?" I replied in a calming tone. "Take the initiative, don't let them take your life, your kingdom away from you."

"I guess, I never really thought about it like that, I suppose…"

I picked her up in my arms and slid off the couch, I held her in that newly married couple fashion. I inclined my neck slightly to kiss her forehead and kicked the door open slightly to the dusky evening. Leigh's time here in my utopia would end soon after I put her to bed, but until then I would make her time as stress free as I could. Somehow, I would think of some way, some sort of solution to her prince marrying issue. What I loved most about my dream land is that it allows anyone to look like what they want to, I pondered on this fact as I looked down at Leigh, I'd put her down and she was now walking by my side and under my arm. Normally, she showed me once, she had long black hair and amber eyes but here my powers allowed her a shorter style of hair and grey eyes. She was a princess yes but also, her heritage was werewolf. Some people in her family had the recessive gene and some didn't, and as it happened she was one of the ones who didn't. But, she still had the amber eye trait. Today we tramped around the town, passing a few people, I swear I've seen before and I became even more sure as they waved at me. I mean, I know that most people who come to visit my utopia learn who I am by the night, but…

He looked suspicious of my fellow regulars, I think he might have finally noticed that they returned as well. None of us knew why we continued to return, but we think it has something to do with him. Maybe both of us need to teach and learn from each other? Maybe they're here for my healing? I wonder if I'm his princess, the princess of his utopia. I randomly leaned over and clung to him, wrapping my arms around him in a tight hug. Our promenade came to a close as we returned to the front of my house again, we found ourselves at the front door, both staring and silent.

I opened the door to her room and it opened to a massive bed; a beautiful brown with a canopy atop and hanging nets surrounding it. Only the best for the sweet Leigh of course. I picked her up again, opened the nets and placed her upon the cushions, she was already half asleep and fading from my dream world. Meaning she would soon wake into her real world. It was a question whether she actually existed in my real world as well, seeing as my dreams theoretically could pass through time. Alas it was time to end my fantasy adventure. I swooped lower to kiss her forehead once more, letting my blonde fringe brush against her face as her grey eyes closed for the final time. She faded from my world soon after, I mourned it briefly then let go of the utopian world.

I appeared, back in my Jollin form, upon my favorite maroon chair. I picked up my book gingerly in my mouth and set it carefully into a hidden drawer type of compartment. I padded to the door again and glanced out then continued my silent four-legged walk to the front of her door. I nosed it open and found her alone again. He'd left even though he'd promised he wouldn't. I let a tear drop as I saw her curled up in a ball with red eyes. I hopped up on the bed next to her, if only she would let his tramping not affect her. But I know she couldn't help it though, she was deathly in love with him but it poisoned her. I glared at the wall as I snuggled into her arms. Who was there to comfort her when she needed it? Not him. Oh sure it had started that way, don't get me wrong, but it faded. She had been scared to make it final because she'd always seen things fall part so easily.
