Gaius Octavian, or Tavi as he prefers to be called, is based on the character of the same name from Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series of novels. Tavi is small for his age, and feels very self-conscious about his skills. He's slowly learning that he can do more than he really thinks. As a Hydrus, he has a natural affinity for water, and loves to play in the surf near his home. His playful feline nature makes him almost as boisterous as an Ontra in the waves. However, when the time comes to protect his fellow pets or his person, he gets fierce, much fiercer than his small size would suggest. He has fallen in love with a pet who is very different from himself, and keeps Challa, his Sunsun minion as a reminder of his love.
