History

Born into a life of privilege, Satheru's mother was one of the many concubines in the Pharaoh's harem. The litter was large and included herself, three brothers and one other sister. The Pharaoh was already aged when his new, young concubine was brought to him, and this litter was one of the last produced. When the new Queen took over the land there was a violent upheaval of the palace and many of the Pharaoh's harem girls were either cast out, killed, or fled for their lives. Fearing that another or royal blood may attempt to usurp her in the future the Queen called an order for all children in the harem to be executed.

It is assumed that with the large number of offspring that a few escaped with their mothers. Satheru's litter had been spirited out by a loyal handmaid of their mother, and were given out to varying adoptive families over the length of Khemet, their royal heritage kept secret from their new parents... all in an attempt to keep them safe. Some were raised with wealth, some with poverty... Satheru was adopted in by the High Priest of Heru (Horus) and given her name Satheru which means 'daughter of Horus' in Khemetic.
The life of a temple girl was the only life Satheru had ever known. She knew of her adoption while still a very young cub, but knew nothing of her parents. She assumed that they were perhaps some of the faithful worshipers of Horus in the local city or a nearby village. She liked to believe that they were a poor family unable to feed another mouth who instead gave her up to the temple. Satheru's life was dedicated to the god Horus, she spent days praying at the temple, cleaning the statues and objects for ritual, and; when old enough, training for battle. (Horus is a war god.) When she reached young adulthood she took her vows to the high priest to become a holy warrior, a paladin for Horus. A vessel to deliver the god's justice and righteous retribution in the mortal world.

Satheru founded a pack called 'Khemet Menfet' (Egypt's Soldiers), composed of mostly like minded kumos who wished to patrol the desert land and fight in just battles. Under Satheru's leadership they were a force of goodness in Khemet, aiding those who could not aid themselves, fighting the wicked, and especially purging the land from the cruel machinations of Set and his followers. The names of her pack were on the lips of the oppressed, hoping that they would be able to bring aid and just vengeance for those wronged.
Horus took notice of Satheru's vigilance and rewarded her with a new marking, a symbol of wings upon her back that she could will into a working pair of falcon wings.

Things changed when the wanderer from a distant land crossed paths with the daughter of Horus.

When the strange traveling wolf named Rom Baro first encountered Satheru she nearly swooned at his playful demeanor and charming words. Her initial fascination was broken when she realized that he was a thief and a rogue. By her own strong morals she couldn't tolerate this.. but found herself drawn to the mysterious stranger who professed his love for her time and time again.
Eventually she turned a blind eye to the behaviours that earlier she couldn't abide.. mostly due to the strength of her growing feelings.
Satheru's negligence to enforce the law upon her new infactuation started to have an effect on her holy abilities. Satheru had sworn vows to Horus that she would uphold the laws of Ma'at, and met out justice, but she had failed to do so with Rom, her love for him blinding her to his actions.

Horrified at her fall Satheru left Rom behind and made a pilgrmage to a temple of Horus to pray for forgiveness. It took a time of atonement for her lax vigilance, but she regained her status as a paladin.
For a long time afterwords Satheru tried to avoid Rom, tried not to fall to his wit and charms, but it was all in vain... for she loved the rascal. It was obvious that she needed him, her heart sickness when he was absent proved it. Since that moment the two of them have been inseparable.

Not willing to make the same mistake twice she spends her time being vigilant around the gypsy traveler, trying to thwart his petty theft and dishonesty at every opportunity. Satheru's constant vigilance is the only way that she can still be with Rom and not break her vows, for she has sworn to bring justice to the guilty, but her vows didn't include her not being able to love the thief himself. So Satheru does her best to keep him out of trouble and therefore keep her holy paladin abilities, and whenever she 'does' catch Rom with 'sticky paws' she does her best to met out justice on her own. After all, she is a paladin of a justice god, and her punishments are as legal as if he faced a town judge.
