Physical Description
As a high elf, Kain stands at six foot six inches tall, with ankle length dusty-blonde hair that is seemingly haphazardly cut and layered. Strong jade colored eyes are the only indication of what the High elf had been. Lean but not underweight, Kain has punished himself both physically and mentally for the death/disappearance of his wife and child. He is covered in scars and the most noticeable one is visible on the right side of his neck. When his casts his magic, the tattoos on his arm and neck dull to a pure midnight black. Kain's clothes generally tend to the more practical side of things rather than the highly detailed, show-off nature of most High Elves. A sturdy and heavy travel-cloak, with practical and loose fitting clothes with leather arm pieces to protect his arms. His boots are Knee high, with leather pieces similar to the arm sections attached over trousers tucked into his boots. His shirt is plain and unadorned and usually alittle stained with his fall from grace.
Personality
Fragmented and sometimes seeming to make no sense, Kain's sense of the world has been skewed somewhat with many years of heavy drinking. He is--underneath the bitter and cynical cover--caring and devoted but bitter resentment for the unexpected turn of people he trusted completely sullied his ability to trust anyone. He both welcomes and fears death. Before he dies, he wants revenge on the Valerothea Clan of high elves and its his only drive now in the sad half life he is living now.
Back Story
In a cruel and heart-rending challenge for power, Kain's family was slaughtered in the attack that was supposed to end his life as well. People he thought he could rely on turned against him. His wife, Ehlana and six year old daughter Mithril had been killed in front of him as he fought to defend them. He escaped barely; mostly because of his magical prowess over shadows. Kain wandered the world, dazed and confused for years before finding some sort of solace in the oblivion brought on by drinking himself into a stupor every night, to drown out the thoughts and memories that tear him apart on the inside. He still watches out for others with small gestures and passable little things that people often overlook. Kain is not willing to trust anyone but he is not above helping out someone in need.

Special Abilities
Discrete Casting (Ex) Observers must make a DC 20 Perception check to notice that Kain's shadow makes different gestures than he does when casting a mystery as an arcane spell.
Line of Shadow (Su) Once per day as a full-round action, Kain can cast a mystery to affect a target that he does not have line of sight or effect with. The target must still be within range of the mystery and must have been within line of sight and effect of Kain within a number of rounds equal to Kain's intelligence modifier. The target gains a bonus to any saving throw against the mystery, if any, equal to the number of rounds since Kain had the target in line of sight and effect.
Seer (Su) Kain is gifted with the Second Sight and can see auras, and occasionally prophetic images around people.
Shadow over Body (Ex) Kain has gained a +6 bonus to Perception and Stealth checks from the metashadow feats he has selected.
Shadowbond (Su) Whenever Kain has concealment due to darkness, shadows or low light, enemies suffer an additional 10% miss chance. Enemies who have concealment against Kain due to darkness, shadows or low light have their miss chance against Kain reduced by 10%.
Sustaining Shadow (Ex) Kain's bond with the plane of shadow allows him to mitigate biological necessities through its extraplanar energy. He does not need to eat or drink to maintain health.
