HISTORY:

15 year-old Sarah Williams spent most of her days reading fantasy novels and plays. One day, while reading the lines to Labyrinth, she realizes that she always forgets one line: "You have no power over me." While rehearsing her lines, it begins to rain ans Sarah must make it home in time to babysit her baby brother, Toby.

Sarah decides to put Toby to bed a couple of hours after her parents leave. When she returns to her room, she realizes that her favorite teddy bear, Lancelot, is missing. Sarah becomes furious at Toby for "stealing" her bear. She takes LAncelot away from Toby and he begins to cry...comforting him is no use. Sarah becomes more aggravated with Toby and says:

"I wish the goblins would come and take you away right now."

Before she knows it, Toby is taken by the goblins and Jareth, the Goblin King from Labyrinth is standing at her window. Jareth wants Sarah to forget about Toby and to accept gifts that he offers to her. "Go and play with your toys and your costumes," he told her. Sarah refuses to leave Toby and decides that she must take him away from Jareth. The Goblin King becomes angry and takes Sarah to his Labyrinth. She must get to his castle in the center of the Labyrinth, beyond the Goblin City, to rescue Toby before he is turned into a goblin.

THE JOURNEY:

Sarah's journey through the Labyrinth was very confusing. She faced elements such as...

~ Having to walk through walls to make a turn
~ the Bog of Eternal Stench
~ Poisoned fruit that erases your memory and gives you strange dreams
~ "junk ladies"
~ Strange, talking creatures

Because of the poisoned peach that she ate (see above), Sarah was trapped in the illusion of dancing happily with Jareth until she finally realizes that she must rescue Toby before her time is up.

In the Labyrinth, Sarah made many new friends; -Hoggle-, -Ludo-, Sir. Didymus, and Ambrosius. She successfully defeated Jareth and rescued Toby with their help. Today, they are still very close to her heart.
