@Keith Late question, I know, but a question about the kemonomimi/gijinka - would things such as Harpies, Centaurs, Fairies, Angels etc, come under the not allowed? Particularly as things like Harpies can appear largely human depending on how modern the interpretation?

...I'd probably use this feature, given that it replaces the official art, but my issue is that the two pets I've actually got ideas for would pretty much be humans with tails/ears/horns...and that's the way I want them, so yeah.
Maybe someday, once I come up with an anthro or quad pet.

I love this feature! I can't wait to get started on an art project and set this into motion for myself. I recall this being suggested on the forums, and am both happy and surprised to see that it now actually exists. I can see why it would cost a bit, but it makes sense. If everyone changed all of their pets, Subeta pets wouldn't really have much of a defined shape any more.

Cool, but I prefer keeping the overlay on the profile. I also have to wonder how this is going to work with fan pets. Couldn't you run into copyright issues?

Hmm I looked at the rules for this and while I don't plan on using this feature at all but I see some people are asking what some things are so I'm going to try to explain a tiny bit of what I know.

What are Quads? Quads are short for Quadruped (An animal that has four feet, esp. an ungulate mammal.) But not all animals have 4 feet.. as someone pointed out, so it's just a general term for animals like man is a general term for humans... can't really use animal so much because it can also be use for anthros in a sense..

What are Anthros? In short... an anthro is an animal with some human characteristics.. The Hustler could be considered an anthro so can Rita (another one of subeta's NPCs)

What are kemonomimis/gijinkas? Well these are the opposite of Anthros (I believe). They are humans with animal characteristics.. I don't have much of a comparison here... but some people do pokemon gijinkas (which would be humans with pokemon characteristics).. trust me just look up gijinka on Deviantart and you will see what I mean.. same for kemonomimi xD

I will say this though... many of those rules are still a bit vague but then again I won't be using the service, personally I was to see more things to do on the site other than quest =/

I kinda knew that this was coming and it's a great idea for those who are willing to pay. However as I'm considering overlaying my pets in how it was done previously, I really don't want this to take over it as I don't really want to see my overlays completely all over the site. (which I heard is still allowed, yay!)
However, I do agree that the rules need to be clearer and the idea that it has to be a subeta pet equivalent (which I can understand) but what if someone wants their pet to be based on a real animal?
The price is a little expensive and I'd rather purchase another pet slot instead (which is another 1000 CSC but it's worth it)

Dear Subeta, More Information Please. You have fantastic artists and fun games and events, but you need to hire some copy writers who excel at explaining things in a way that makes perfect sense. In other words, you have to be able to 'sell' your new features, and so far, you have earned a D- marketing this new item, Subeta is a business after all. You haven't explained adequately 'where' these images will show up, you haven't explained 'how' this feature may benefit users, or 'how' the 1000CSC price is justifiable, and you haven't explained exactly 'what' is going to be allowed or not allowed in a fashion that leaves many of us wondering why this new feature is even the slightest bit relevant to us. So we are left to quibble. If I had any real complaint about Subeta, it would be the apparent attitude of the staff toward the users in an attempt to keep all Subetans feeling like mushrooms about how to do things. Can you show some examples? C'mon, sell this thing, I just might bite if the bait was tasty.

okay, I think I just found what 'quad' is supposed to be.. apparently it means 'quadruped' which in turn means four-legged. which is funny btw 'cause there are quite a few pets on this site that so not have four legs (at least 14, not counting the experiments)..
my point is that the word 'quad' is probably not the most comprehensible and suitable word to describe, basically pets without human characteristics.. it still sounds like a four wheeled vehicle without a roof to me..

I only really look at my pet's overlays when I'm viewing their profiles so this isn't appealing to me but I can see how it'd be neat for someone who is constantly looking at their pet buttons/battling/etc. Even if it seems pricey it's a neat idea and my guess is that those who really love it won't care about the price too much ahah.

It's an interesting feature, but badly priced. At a lower price, people would end up buying this for all of their pets. At this price point, you're likely to get a lot fewer takers, which seems counterproductive.

I'll consider this for one or two of my pets where site art is just too different from their character, but at the 1k price, I am NOT going to use it for all my pets. Some pets only have small changes, and 1k isn't worth it for them.

I'm not digging the price at all. Custom wearables at $50 is understandable but a pet overlay at $10. Just....I don't understand where the pricing comes from. It's a waste of money if we're still able to use the code. If we're not I guess I'm not working on my pet pages any time soon.

I'm pretty sure the only time I would ever be able to see my pets with this custom overlay thing would be when I'm battling which doesn't seem worth it to me. It's a nice idea, kinda pricey however imo

Seriously, it should have been no more than 250 because of the mass number of pets people have. I have 20pets and over half of them I planned to use this feature for. Also, I think a lot of people aren't quite understanding what it does? $10 to replace the art for your pet sitewide for all users to see isn't really that steep considering what other things around here cost. I'm especially excited to see this on pets in the spotlight, considering the official art often isn't a good reflection of the actual pet and it's profile and story (actually it can be downright misleading in cases lol)

I won't be using this (I pick my pet colors because I like the art, I don't see a need to cover it up) but I agree that 1k CSC sounds perfectly fair to me.

I like the "change it as much as you want" part, but not being able to upload something that isn't a Subeta pet is kind of a bother, yeah..
Mhh. I'll consider it. CSC is way, way too inflated for me to even think about it at the moment..
I guess I'm a bit sour because this is a pet site, but a lot of the really cool pet-related things, like leashing and now this, cost CSC. :/

great idea, but i wish it was cheaper or there was some kind of bulk purchase discount available. :) i have 17 pet slots and counting - there's a lot of pets i'd love to overlay but all together that's nearly a month's groceries.

1k csc is a perfectly fair price, especially when one considers that coding simplicity or not you're still covering up official site art on site, and having the site display your own personal creation which they never had to do in the first place. That said, I'm perfectly happy with having whatever overlays for my pets on their pet page only, and will likely never use this.

I can't believe 1k csc is considered unreasonable? Seems fair to me. Compare to other things 1k csc gets you on the site - two costume trunks, one and a bit custom wearables, part of a boutique set, half a pet slot, a username change etc etc. For the privilege of seeing your pet everywhere on the site as you want them to be seen, and everyone seeing the same... I don't see the problem.

I'm sorry, but for the CSC people pay for wardrobe items, potions, etc, this is a GREAT price for getting to upload your OWN overlay throughout the site. Now that the idea has been explained well (Thank you Rah - consider putting your explanation as to what this feature entails on the purchase page), I think this is a great idea, at a very reasonable price.

Oh wait, just read the rules. No kemonomimi? So we can use anthros, but only if they're furry all over? Any particular reason for that other than to be overly limiting? I mean, if it has Kumos/Celinox/Telenine/whatever ears and tail, it's still identifiable as that pet, isn't it?

hmmm I think it is kinda fair, if it was a way too acessible it could mess the potion market a little among other things, but if the majority wants a price change it is better to win less than win nothing. Also, I believe it would work better if you bought um, image slots instead of uploading the picture. So if your design changed you could submit a new image in the same slot instead of deleting and buying another upload again.

Considering that they're allowing us to officially cover up their artwork- I think 1k is very fair. It /is/ expensive for a reason, because if it was cheaper, everyone could do it a lot easier, so this just makes it something you have to work for. Very cool idea, didn't think it would ever happen! But very nice they implemented it, thanks staff!

Oh, and I'm not speaking for staff, but I think if you make your pet a real life specie, it's okay as long as you don't hide the actual specie of the pet on the profile, since they already allow css overlays and all and a lot of people have real animals but keep the name of the specie on the page for official reference and not falsifying information.

I didn't see anything mentioned in the rules about whether or not you can change the species of your pet to a real life animal through the overlays, is something like this allowed?(Doing something like turning a Kanis into a rabbit or a ruffie into some breed of dog, etc.)

For those who aren't sure what this is - it's being able to upload your own custom image of your pet, and assign it to your pet. That image will then be seen all over the site in place of the official subeta pet art. So things like on your profile, on your pets' profile, in the sidebar widget, when you go to train your pet, when you battle your pet - it will all be your custom image that you see.

I, personally, liked the idea of uploading two versions of one pet. A static pose, and a 'battle' pose for when it comes around to battling! It's free to switch them around once you've uploaded both of them, that's just something I'm interested in doing for my own battle pet.

@Nataku -
1) It's 1k csc for -each image uploaded-, but once that image is in your bucket you can switch it between pets any number of times. This is to help people that regularly name change for IDs or such, or if they have multiple overlays uploaded and want to switch between them. You can only have the overlay on one pet at a time, though.
2) Yes, everywhere on site.
3) Every user who looks at your pet will see the image you have uploaded.

1. It means if you move that pet to a new ID or decide to use that overlay for another pet you can do so freely since you only have to pay to upload an image once. However, the 1k csc is for a single overlay (so if you wanted to upload 30 overlays, it would be $300 XD)

2. Everywhere the light touches and doesn't touch! Battling, training, it's profile, your pet page, your profile (if you have pets listed that way at least), the resort, job agency, spotlight wins, and everything else.

3. Everyone will see it everywhere. On your profile, on the pet page, if they're creeping in your battle stats page (if you go creep on mine now you should see Christophe isn't a hydrus telly anymore, for example!), and on the news if it wins the spotlight c:

Is that 1k CSC and that works for ALL my pets? Or is that 1k CSC for just ONE pet? I don't understand the 'infinite number of times' bit and what precisely that's referring to. Or does that mean I could put the same overlay onto all of my pets at the same time, even though it would be the same overlay?

2) Is this custom image used EVERYWHERE on site? Including training/battling/my pets page/the headshot if I've got a pet leashed to me in the forums/ etc. Or does this only count certain places?

3) Does this mean every user who looks at my pet sees this image or only me?

This rule has just been removed from the page! We're listening and while we had initial reservations about someone opening up a shop and selling pets that we may consider having in the future, we think that creativity is way more important.

Actually really shocked to see this already implemented. I think I'll consider doing this when I get a pet done. Probably the last move for a 'spotlight ready' pet for me. It would be a slow process, but that's the only real way I can justify paying 10$ per overlay. D8

As long as I can still use my overlays I'll be fine. I don't think I want everyone to see my overlays anyways xD that and some of my pets don't have any, and 10$ per pet is a tad to much, if everyone had one pet that would be different, if one were to buy 10 overlays for their 10 pets (just assuming they only have a GA with extra pets) that's a whipping 100$ (the more pets the more money) that can be spent on other things like GA's/Cashshop/Custom wears which some people wouldn't do and yes I know we have the option to buy that feature or not just putting my thoughts into it. Overall I guess those who really want to show their overlays to the whole subeta world have a great opportunity now ^_^

Lovely idea, but 1k is a bit too much for me. Especially for just one pet, when I feel many of the people interested in this feature have at least ten pets.

I can see how some may like this idea, but I doubt I'll use this feature. A lot of people are complaining about the 1000 CSC.. but that doesn't seem too high to me. People spend 1k to get an extra wardrobe save slot, and what is it.. 1500-2000 CSC for a name change. Price seems about right to me since you'll be forever changing your pets' graphics site-wide.

I have 24 pets and I've already spent 20-60 PER slot if it didn't come from a loyalty box. Really need to fix site issues before you release more things that require me to dish out more cash.

I like this idea a lot! It would be super useful for my pet Sweetiekins since the Kumos hasn't come out in the Sweetheart color yet. Sadly I don't have CSC right now, or an overlay for that matter, so I think I'll wait it out and see if they're released next pandemic x)

I don't leash my pets so personally I'd rather use the code for free. ^_^; It's a nice option to have, but I agree that 1k CSC is expensive.

... also yes can we get some confirmation for the whole.. subeta species equivalence x:? I understand no kumos that look like a lupe, but yeah so can you have an overlay that looks like a pig, or a hyena, or a lobster?

This is something I was thinking of using later on, and I adore the idea of it !
Good on for anyone that does use this, but screw that price tag. I am perfectly happy with simple overlays on the pet profiles.
Thankfully only one of my pets (as of now) would fit the bill, and I don't think it would even be allowed.

it could potentially be a good feature, but on the voting poll for the gold members, and on facebook, ummm I saw no one vote for 10 bucks for the option. thats just....steep. I mean its a buck to have a image of your pet under your name in the forums...I get the whole coding thing is difficult and such...and its "forever" but...ya....no...but happy using it to the people who do!

If this was 250 I'd probably use it, 500 would be iffy, but IMO 1k is WAY to much for a feature that I probably could basically code into my browser (or I think using the custom layout feature?) for free, if I wanted to - granted the browser would change all default species/color of that into the overlay on the site, but still.

While this seems like a nice feature, 1,000 csc seems to much for me to spend :3. Sorry! Hopefully we'll still be able to use pet overlays on their profiles without having to have this feature.

I also think this is a very fair pricetag for it, enough to make it feel special (and actually still see some official subeta pets around the site -laugh-) but not enough to make it uninterested. Right on pay day, too, not sure if good timing or bad timing |D..

When it says "subeta species equivalent" does this mean that an overlay of a pig for example would not be accepted? Sounds like a cool feature but I don't know if I'll use it yet :)

There is no way I would pay that much for having the custom image of my pet everywhere... for 2.5$ maybe, but not for 10$!
Sorry, but the little money I give to the site will go to a better use. Good idea tough!
