Vending Limit

Starting Monday we will begin testing a vending limit. This limit will include all of the basic vending machines (including ocean depths).

This is a test, and we are going to start the limit very small. It\'s likely the limit will increase throughout the week as we watch the impact on the economy and on items flowing in and out of the system.

More information on the limit will be available on Monday!

I think this is a good idea. There are WAY too many items in the system and they're severely undervalued. Vending limits would probably really help with the economy.

me too!!! LOL
Well...considering it was said, it was in part to combat deflation, I think it could be good.. I have had items drop from 3-4 mil to 300-400k in just the last few months that have always been.. steady high sellers....ALSO this is a TESTING PHASE... how about people stop being rude? They cannot improve the site without implementing changes. Just because you don't like it.. I am not naming names. doesn't mean you get to be rude. At least they let us know.. and allow us to have input on it. Unlike oh.. other social networking sites I can name....
There might just be a flip side to all this, so I will just be patient and wait it out and see. Change is good and that is normally true. I do not vend heavily as I prefer to save my tokens for other things, including T.S. restocks.
I really haven't noticed an issue with the vending as it already is at all...
Not impressed with limits on how much you can vend now. Why is this site taking such a drastic turn for the worst? That's how a lot of us earn our profit and now that's even being controlled? No mere words can express...the ONLY vending machine that should be excluded from this is ocean depths. People have paid a lot of money to gain access to that machine. There's no point in even having access anymore if you can't even vend there unlimitedly. To a lot of us we even just vend for FUN. Now our fun is even being limited? This is just going from bad to worse...especially if a lot of us miss out on the mini vending machine due to vending limits now...I was looking forward to finally earning mine soon...
Well after the amount of items that the Subeta Team account bought from my shop this week due to massive price deflation caused by ridiculous amounts of vending, I kind of welcome this change. I'll have to wait and see how it works out to decide if I like it or not.

Riles - Us too :) Limiting a ton of items coming on the site daily benefits that.
I would rather subeta work properly for me
Not gonna like I'm kind of hesitant about this, but like everything else I'll go along with it till it becomes an issue.
Not really liking some of these revamps, especially with what's happened to some of the quests.. oh well. I only vend to get crystal fodder anyway usually haha. XD Let's see how this goes.
I felt a disturbance in Subeta... as though thousands of vending addicts cried out and were silenced.
Dear god. Why?
I for one think the economy has only gotten worse with all the changes to 'fix' it.
Back when quests were worth it and before vending machines were revamped. Prize Get used to be my go to and now it's pointless.
Which is why I was questing more so that I could save up to vend 1000 tokens at each place at once and maybe make SOME profit.
I just... no.
Looking forward to seeing how this impacts the economy. Right now there is no profit in vending. Hopefully this will help change that... and perhaps some new use for tokens will come along?
I usually hate these limits you've been throwing out there lately, but with such undervalued items all over the site, I think this is a great idea.
AHhh, maybe the items will have a little more value now. Since this new way of vending came out, items' values have gone down tremendously. I see alot of items down to 1sp or 10sp even. For the people complaining, do you realize that there are crazy amounts of items in user shops that are dirt cheap? That is mostly from the new way of vending. If this happens, it will make things go up in price and therefore, you get more money when someone buys them. Can't you at least be thankful that Subetateam is trying to help the economy here rather than just sit by and do nothing? If they do nothing, then more items will be lower than 100 sp. How will you make money then? Just take a chill pill and see how this works before you start bellyaching?
I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that this will make items worth more in user shops
Looks like I'm going for my 50k achievement BEFORE Monday! New goal!

Vending 5,000 items a day for little profit isn't fun.
But for some of us it is fun. We don't all de3fine fun the same way. U vend for new items. The profit (and I use that term loosely) is an added benefit. Saying it is even profit is actually misspeaking because I spend more on tokens than I earn back. But the point is, I don't care; I vend for new items.
I am pretty excited about the potential this change could hold. I actually make most of my sP through restocking, and it is extremely frustrating to rs rare items only to see them worth a pittance because so many have been vended. :/ I tried vending, myself, to see if I could earn some sP but everything was so worthless that I lost more money in token value than I made up in the items I vended. Pretty much the only reason for me to vend is for the highly rare/special items, so as long as the chances of getting those remain even with the number of times you can vend, I am happy.
Bye bye cheap HPCs sniff
i'm interested to see how this will work out, though i have to admit i have my reservations, mostly about how this is going to affect the price of wiz tokens. overall though, this is probably something that should have been put into place a long time ago. better late than never, though.
Would the limit be less than the amount of tokens that we earn in a day from the Wiz Quests? If so, I feel like that would defeat the purpose of giving us more WT per day in the first place. I vend a max of 400 times per day so as long as the limit isn't ridiculously low I don't think it would affect me much XD
I do, however, agree that the rarity caps should probably be raised at most of the machines. Some of this lowish rare to rare stuff is just crazy inflated, it's super frustrating.
Yea, I saw some of that previously, Keith, when I was doing vending for the special items during Fireside. I was happily surprised there, but I'm hoping that we'll see during the holidays more of the items showing up in the vending machines too. I kinda miss being able to vend for my shop and gallery as well.

ALSO since it hasn't come up yet, we're working out what this means for those special items that vend, and how we can make them pop up a little more frequently depending on the limit ;)
I personally am extremely interested in how this plays out. I have noticed that my overall shop profits have dropped dramatically from where they were a couple of years ago - I used to make 10mil+ a day from vending and autopricing my shop, now I'm lucky if I make 3. I was curious as to what was causing this, if it was really deflation of all of the items flooding into the economy or if the economy is just slower in general now like it is on some other petsites. However, during the New Year event when everyone and their dog was questing, I was vending and stocking my shop every day and making maybe 6-7mil a day, and that was with autopricing twice, which I don't normally do. So I have to think that during an event when almost everyone on the site is buying stuff from user shops and I'm STILL not making what I used to during a normal day, it probably has something to do with the fact that all of those thousands of items are worth almost nothing now.
To continue what I was saying earlier...this is going to make it harder to do some quests. Less items in circulation means higher prices on those items means they're less affordable for quests. This means it becomes harder to make a profit on quests and thus harder to earn those achievements.

And limiting the number of times people can do each quest daily again makes getting achievements harder. I loathe them already as is and they are my greatest cause of disdain for this site.
Doesn't affect me since I don't vend, it's always been a waste of tokens for me. But I can see how some people would get upset if they vend a lot.
This could be really good. Lately I don't vend much anyhow, because of all the items I end up with from questing. One thing that might be really nice is if rarity caps were raised (just a little bit anyhow) in conjunction with the limited vends. Either way, interested to see how this goes and thanks for the heads up!

Where do you think GAs come from? XD
The stork.

(I stubbornly save up the sp for them so I forgot they were there, hurr)
Sigh...

I guess as long as it decreases all the errors then it's all good.

@gemajgall Yup, and I've posted that we're moving away from achievements like that. We're deciding what to do with the user shop achievements now (likely moving them to vaults) but you won't see us adding anymore tiers to the vending achievements anytime soon. It's possible we'll number crunch them to match the new limits, but I'm unsure.
@Keith: Thanks for the response, for the record I actually like how the quests have changed. I'll take a chill pill and see how this goes.
oh lord this is going to cause a shitstorm
especially since it fucks with a lot of peoples main source of income (not mine-- that's quests)
and speaking of i do not want to decrease the cost of my wizard tokens nope nope nope
Man, that's going to be something I'm not going to look forward too, especially now with how the Vending Machines are now (which I love being able to see what I vend without having to then come back to the page afterwards like the old times). I'm just wondering how many MORE things will get limited eventually here.

Lol of course not, it's going to be in the CASH SHOP.
Where do you think GAs come from? XD
The irony here is so thick. Subeta has all of these (ridiculous) achievements. Like vending 50,000 times--so people who don't usually vend have to vend to get those. And then there's doing quests, like the wizard quest, 2500 times. So this is making it harder to do things the site wants you to do.

I'm sure it's to combat inflation or too many of certain items in circulation. But this is going to be killing a huge way to spend tokens--thus decreasing the value of tokens over all. I doubt this is going to benefit the economy overall. Plus people do work hard for an Omen Island map--it is sad to limit one of the perks of that.

I could go on...but it's midnight. So again. Boo.
I think this could be a good thing. If it helps the economy, cool. If it doesn't, no great harm done, scrap it and try again.
Long as it's not extremely small I can handle it. I usually hoard tokens for a week then vend them on the weekend or when I feel up to it so I hope it's not going to ruin that for me.
Keith STAFF
Bailey - The goal is to make the site enjoyable in general :). Vending 5,000 items a day for little profit isn't fun. Vending 250 items a day and getting the same general amount of profit (which if we lower the number of daily possible quests + increase sP prizes) is entirely possible.

As I've mentioned in the user shop system, the site is straining under the sheer amount of items that come into the system daily. We're going to be watching the value of wizard tokens, and will introduce features as needed to keep the prices of them stable.
The amount you can spend should be correlated directly to the number you can earn from Wiz quests in a day, otherwise tokens will become worthless.

I sincerely hope you are also thinking about ways users can "earn" an increase above and beyond the limit. Perhaps more for GA holders?
Lol of course not, it's going to be in the CASH SHOP.
Should be interesting to see what happens here.
Probably would have been a better idea to give us a concrete number now instead of letting us speculate all weekend and get worked up. But either way, we knew it was coming, and here it is. Thanks for the announcement!
Yam
although this will put a cap on a lot of people's way of making a profit, i think this'll make some items worth more, and there won't be as many items worth 10 sp anymore, like some balloons that you can vend at blue sky.
I sincerely hope you are also thinking about ways users can "earn" an increase above and beyond the limit. Perhaps more for GA holders?
Oh good, make sure you keep making the fun stuff harder to enjoy.
ohohoho, sounds like i'll have to vend lots to, er, help y'all research! -excuses to vend-
I'm really not sure how I feel about this. I can see how it would positively impact the economy and likely lower the costs of Wizard Tokens... But I love my mindless vending. Its actually one of my favorite aspects of the site and how I make most of my SP.
