Closure of The Balloon Hut
Sad news for balloon lovers everywhere: The Balloon Hut has closed down. Former shop owner Tiffanie has made a deal with game owners down at the Carnival that allows them to use some of her leftover stock as prizes.
There is no word yet on what will happen to the rest of the remaining balloon stock, but we can say that Bibi and Lilah seem eager to get their hands on it. Perhaps they'll be open for donations from charitable Subetans soon!

If most of the items from the shop aren't disappearing and you can still get them, then I'm not really sure what the point is of being that upset about the shop closing.
Seriously though, the second carnival game I played this morning (Also the second one I played since this announcement) I got a grey heart balloon. It's worth a few million (And had been on my wishlist forever. I was never going to spend a few million for a silly balloon for a silly achievement)
I think everything will work out just fine.
(Additionally, since the rarity of the balloons have been changed to Game Prize, Cinthia probably will still ask for them, just on the other side.)

So, I hope that any required balloons will be removed from Cinthia's quests, because she's asking for balloons quite often. :>
Thank staff posts... I was wondering about exactly what to do with the Balloon achievement which I was trying to get since I've been on site (more and more balloons keeps on being added to the required list before I can get the achievement...). If there's somehow a way to get to the ones that are hard to get I'm all for that.
That´s totally okay with me. Knowing you guys, I am sure you´ll find a nice surprise for what to do with the shop now! :-)

I read some of the comments below. It's so obvious some people are posting just to cause drama. What's even worse, is that there are people coming along and taking their bait. But to the topic at hand... I never really visited the shop before. My concern is all of the balloons in the user shops are gonna skyrocket in price. Goodbye balloon hut and hello inflation. Kind of appropriate, isn't it, given that the items are balloons.

I'm okay with this. The only thing that may even bug me is the still active link on the Veta map.

I restocked from it every day...but that was because veeerryyy few people did so it was easy money hahaha.

There was a balloon achievement? I never knew. Guess as long as the quests don't ask for balloons I guess it's OK.

I never really used or liked any of the balloons but it always feels weird for awhile when a shop is gone.. like with what happened to the Holiday Shop.

That's good, it just felt like one of those shops that was never really used. shrugs No sense me missing something I pretty much never used or saw it being talked about. I mean, even the music shop NPC got some attention during that Veta Lake concert (Peeka Boo? I missed that one, so I forget sheepish laugh )
And the less-popular shops like perhaps Atebus or Music Shop at least have a wider variety of items (minions, books, food, ect). Balloons was almost only, well, wearable balloons.

I'm all for closing shops that aren't used, and I'm glad that we'll still be able to get the balloons through the carnival, but some advanced warning would have been nice. Are there any other shops that are on the chopping block that we need to worry about?
I was wondering just the other day why it was not added to the new main shops page.. this answers it. Ah well so long balloon shop.. :C

Fine with me. It didn't really serve any purpose since most of the items weren't worth anything and sat there for ages with nobody buying them.
@LoftyBalloon - awww, I'm with you on the mean ol' anti-balloon comments! I would've liked a bit of advance notice so that I could frag most of my hoard of balloons, but instead there's going to be several thousand bubbles of air sitting in my gallery, clogging up the system for eternity, lol.

Seriously though... I'm... okay with this. I understand the reasoning behind closing the shop. I have the balloon achievement, and my balloon gallery is complete. Just wish I had bought more multiples, and I'm certainly not selling any of my duplicates now like I'd been considering! Some advanced notice would have been nice though, just so I could hoard even more of them ;)
But... why the anti-balloon and sarcastic comments? I understand being scared of them; it's a legitimate phobia. But no need to be mean to those of us who like the balloons or used the shop.

@Ferinsy I would be really, REALLY sad if Atebus shop goes down. I honestly love all the shops that are scattered about Subeta and have lesser expensive items up for grabs. I really hate spending 2-4K on junk from the main shops.

Not really bothered about this, since most of the balloons were really cheap - a really good point to what happened.

Wow glad that was one of the first shops I ever stocked from to have a collection in my hoard gallery from. Only missed out on a few, but glad I did it when I did.

You can always buy them from user shops, Inknote. :) Some balloons have like 300 in one user shop alone.
Grand, the shop closed (which is fine for me cus I never used it) but there's gunna be a drive for the items we CAN NO LONGER BUY. NEAT.

We did put some of the old retired items from the Balloon Hut in the carnival prize queue. :) I'll look into where some of those other balloons are from for the achievement and figure out ways to bring them back.

I just want to say THANK YOU!! Maybe the Recycle Beast will want all of those balloons leftover from vending in previous days. It seems you may be able to get those second year balloons from the game? That is great news. Will other balloons that are a part of the achievement go into the Carnival as well, the ones that have a "Special" Rarity?
The good thing about this is that now, you are more likely to get books from the Blue Sky vending machine, especially now that you don't have to worry about getting some 200 sP balloon instead of something else.
I don't care either way about the Balloon Hut closing, but what's going to happen to poor Tiffanie? Will she just disappear into Subetan Lore now, never to be seen again?

I have a whole section in my gallery dedicated to balloon things because seriously, I got so many from vending it was obnoxious. I honestly don't mind this change at all.

Not all the items from the Ballon achievement came from the Ballon Hut. Independence Day Balloons, Keiths 18th Birthday Demon Balloon, etc. You can still get the balloon hut items pretty cheap from shops or play the carnival games to get some of the more expensive ones. :)

Couldn't they have been moved to the Toy Box or Carnival Stand? Considering there's an achievement for balloon collecting.
Why do you need to be alerted, before a shop closes? What're you gonna do? Restock from it fast, before it closes? Go buy up all the cheap balloons, and sell them for a high profit? Seriously, people need to calm down.

When we close a shop, we don't just get rid of the items. We move them somewhere else, so you can still get them instead of just retiring them. If we were to completely get rid of a shop and just retire the items forever, yeah we'd give a heads up.
I can think of one user I imagine is heartbroken right now awww!

Usually when shops close, the prices of all items in them go way down because they make getting the items extremely easy from games or quests (like the Graveyard shop)

Well, for me it's a big deal because I don't use the shout box and this was entirely out of no where for me. I shouldn't have to use the shout box to get information. Letting people know ahead of time is just common courtesy.

I don't like the shop being closed since I restocked from it every day, but it's not a big deal either. It would've been nice if there had been a news post to announce that it would be closing shortly though.
Why is it a big deal that a shop closed? Honestly. You can still get the items that restocked in it, by playing a game, and the shop was full of nearly worthless items, save for one or two rares worth, at most, 600k.
(all the expensive balloons needed for the achievement were retired or didn't stock in the balloon hut in the first place)

The balloon collection achievement shouldn't be hard to get because we've put quite a few of those in the carnival prizes and the ones we didn't are serioulsy like 50sP in shops.
Still, if you're going to close a specific shop a little warning would be really nice. Instead of -closes shop and watches everyone freak out about it-.

As someone pointed out, it was a little silly to have an entire shop to just balloons. They make much more sense as games at the carnival, tbh. The minion market is safe!

i might be in the minority but i feel like this is a step in the direction. why did the site have an entire shop dedicated to balloons in the first place? the stock was a really shallow pool and they never struck me as in-demand items...
I'll just go ahead and take the balloons off of my wishlist. No point attempting the achievement.
